Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Anyone else feel like we got screwed?

  • thegamekittenub17_ESO
I didn't post about leveling. My post is about a company not holding their end of the bargain. But if you do not pay once there is no excuse you are shut down. This is more about the company than the actual game. I do not have any character over level 15. So it isn't a race to cap level, it is once more about the company and their word.

    Hey folks,

We want you to know that everyone who was part of Early Access will be granted an extended grace period until Sunday at 8AM EDT/12PM GMT before being required to transition your account to live. This will cover those who purchased ESO from an online retailer and won't be getting your box shipped in time and also gives anyone who purchased digitally more Early Access time.

I don't feel screwed at all. The game has worked better than I hoped it would so that's a huge plus. Having servers go down is just something you're going to have to deal with. Is this your first MMO? Be thankful that the launch thus far has been as painless as it has. Also as I scrolled down I noticed someone saying they took the servers down in "Prime time"? Seriously, it's the middle of the day, some people work. The servers will be back & you'll all be back in game for many hundreds of hours to come. Stop acting like whiney first worlders with no real hardship in your life. Cheers -MisterToe

    No..
I got the big packed for the extra stuff, not for the 5 days headstart.
And I'd do it even if no 5 days headstart.

Sorry, I'm with the OP on this one. Took a whole day to download the game in the first place (didn't realise it was 22gig), then got on for the first time last night, only to be kicked off half an hour later. Then try to get on again tonight, and no access again until tomorrow it would seem. So last 3 days I've managed half an hour play time.

I am sure it will be great once I get going though....roll on tomorrow.

You were given 5 or 3 day early access, not 120 or 72 hours of playtime... there is a difference. Ppl just need to relax and reread the Terms they accepted http://www.zenimax.com/legal_terms_us

    No, not at all.
    VR14 Templar, VR14 DK, VR8 DK, VR7 NB, VR1 Sorcerer;
    All 3 Alliances;
2 Pre-order Imperial Accounts, yes that means 16 characters on NA alone

OH thank god, i was worried ZOS was gonna make the players take it as a loss of time. Thank You, that makes up for it. (not being sarcastic, this really makes it all better)

and some people work during evening prime time and late at night but having the server come down at 3:00pm est when kids get out of school and alot of people get out of work is not wise.

They had other options tho like not taking the game down at prime time NA

No they hadn't... Why ? Because it was like a dupe bug and needed to be addressed immediatly... happened on other game.

If they left the server open, they had to make a rollback, which is far worse than to get the server down !

And they only took back one of the two servers because the issue appeared on only one of the two... Which make me think about a security issue discovered overseas and not in Europe... and some jocks tried to exploit it.

I am really sure they do exactly what many other developpers failed to do... react quickly.

Not at all. I was able to play every single day of early access. Is the game perfect and glitch free? Of course not but its certainly not the disaster some are making it out to be. This is actually one of the smoothest MMO launches I have been a part of.

Yeah, having not known that early access = last beta I feel a bit ripped off. But lesson learned, don't buy a game until goes on sale. And all this well that's just the way it is, stop bitching, are terrible answers to people that clearly have legitimate concerns.

Yes, not to mention I got nearly daily emails from Zenimax saying "be sure to get your 5 days of early access" so you can play ESO before everyone else! They just failed to mention that it was actually only 48 hours of early access and most of the server up time was scheduled for when I would be in bed sleeping...

Can all the White Knights leave the room for a moment? Thanks.

I've been around the block a time or two with MMO releases since UO. I love this game and want it to succeed. But over a day's worth of maintenance with little to no warning, no compensation, and less than the 5 day's early access? This is not inspiring.

Check out my few previous posts. I've got no bones to pick when I'm unhappy about something or feel like we (the players, not just me) are getting a raw deal, and I'm happy to speak my mind.

With that out of the way, people have got to get a life and stop acting like spoiled kids. We're all adults (I assume so since most of the complaints are from people taking time off work), so start acting like it.

I'd rather see the servers come down to fix things and patch exploits than leave things as they are. We should all have that in agreement. I get pissed at the level of hassle as much as anyone, but I'd be a damned sight more pissed if they didn't act at all. Sure whoever is in charge of communication needs a kick up the ass, but I think they've got the message by now.

Now we've got a couple more hours to wait, maybe longer if it doesn't go smoothly - I won't get on tonight but hey tomorrow's another day, I'm not going to die from anxiety over a bleeding game and neither should you. Take a shower, watch some telly, play with the cat, do whatever it is you do with life when you're not pulling your hair out over a game.

The best things in life make you sweaty.

The thing is ESO was in Dev for like 7+ years and they could not come up with server technology that allows them to roll out new patches, and new content without server downtime? ArenaNet /Guild Wars 2 has this technology, Eve Online also has it, some other MMO's have it as well so what happened to the sever dev team for ESO?

She just mean, as I understand it: your account 30 free days of game time will start on the 8th and not on the 4th, so you get 4 more free days, like if you were able to play to the early access ;)

Is this like on a separate server? If so, what happens to guilds when we transition?

Thank you someone that gets it. Ive seen alot of releases such as WoW Rift DDO FFXI FFXIV FFXIVARR LoTRO SWTOR and more and yes they have probs and this was a smooth launch for the most part but losing 1/2 the promised play time with no compensation and no warning isnt okay. hell i bought my copy at 6am eastern when 1hr before it was suposed to start and didnt get my code to start playing till 9pm est that night i waited all day on day 1 and didnt get to play till late that night.

NA servers were down for all of Tuesday night, as well as Wednesday morning/afternoon.
    They're now down AGAIN.

Lesson learned though, don't waste your money on pre-orders.

It means an extended grace period for online/retail early access people to put their official game code into their account before their game becomes unplayable.
