anyone else feel like we got screwed with the servers being down for almost 24 hours during the "early access"? even more so if your like me and had to wait 5+ hours on day one to get your code. you add that to the server down time ever couple hours and the random boots form the server as unknown errors and its like a day and a half wasted time we didn't get that we paid for.
I understand that you paid for the game and that early access is a bonus but its the reason we buy it before launch so don't try to push that one to me. I feel the least they could do is push launch back 1 day like other companies do to give us what we paid for or give us something in game to make up for it. I just feel like we were ripped off a bit.

'Tis why I came here to say. Early Access? 5 days, more like 3 days with servers being down on prime gaming time. Not a very good way to start the game, bad will in my book.

So, you have two choice there:
    • People will complain Zenimax do nothing about inventory bug, XP issue in RvR, do not address issues related to quest you can't achieve? So they keep the server open but don't care about issues and don't try to solve them?
    • People will complain because Zenimax took servers down during early access to adress issue because they weren't able to play for about 24 hours during this period...

Finally, I think whatever the choice they made, it was the wrong one.

Stop whinning each time they do something. Almost all quest are playable, they solved inventory issues, the servers were stable, really stable, almost no lag, stable client ! In a early access ??!!!!

I never had such an experience over a launch period in any MMORPG yet.

So no, I don't feel "screwed".

    No. It is early access.
  • Msgreenleaf
Yeah, having not known that early access = last beta I feel a bit ripped off. But lesson learned, don't buy a game until goes on sale. And all this well that's just the way it is, stop bitching, are terrible answers to people that clearly have legitimate concerns.

No, I don't. Save for first day, I have NOT been playing 24/7, and made a conscious choice not to. I had the ability to log in and play at *ANY* time, but felt that I would be burning through the game much too quickly if I did such.

Am I annoyed that I can't get into the game? No. There have been other MMO's that I've stuck with that have had much worse access problems than actual downtimes. Try having the entire communication system of a game failing to work properly due to a nearby Amazon Server Cluster going down. Try having the ability to leave your starting zone fail because of such an error that isn't even *RELATED* to the game owners.

Complaining about a lack of early access, or needing to be "Refunded" is completely pathetic. There are other things in life that can be done in the mean time instead of raging or complaining about a lack of game access.

You have got what you paid for. The game. Early access is just a bonus. Get over it or read the Terms of use, section 6.

Screwed? No. Unnecessarily frustrated? Sure, at times. They could have scheduled maintenance times before EA ever even started. That way we all would have known when not to try and play.

The issue is NOT that they took the servers down IT IS that they took them down during prime play hours. If they had done it at say 3 AM Europe time then no issue as it is that WAS NOT what they did. SO stop saying its all good because it makes you look foolish for saying anything. I paid for the early access I expect to have it during the prime hours.

Now i know new games have some glitches but if you ask me what i got for my extra 20.00 the best would have been the 5 day pre game play which was not even that. It was more like 2.5 days. The server problems, Glitch fixes and Like Right now ITS DOWN AGAIN !!!!. NOT with the extra $ 20.00 who cares about a pet.. who cares about imperial race we want full 5 days Pre access and we get not even close????
I think these paying people on here deserve something for the 2.5 days missing!!! if you agree Post !

No, i don't. I've played lots of MMOs to know that these things happen. I wanted to play? Of course!!! But fortunately i'm a grown man that can have enough patience, aside from having other regular daily tasks that distract me as well.

Well it is the reason my fiancé and I bought the game early. I don't get why people allow companies to do this and make excuses for them. If you fail to pay they will shut you down, but if they fail to produced what they said they would, their customers (some) will give you excuses for them. This is what they love.

Not good for business or word of mouth. Many of my fiancé's work buddies were going to buy and play, now with the reported down time and the lies about early access (bonus or not)...they have decided not to and just play their other MMOs. This is just one case.

Their actions do matter and so does what they print/type on any advertisement. Defend them if you will, they are hoping you will. But don't be surprised if they keep up with shady dealings and end up F2P.

Now after saying that, I could really care a less. WoW is coming out with a new expansion, and I always have Tera where I do pay a sub if I play it. I do love ESO, but I won't deal with another shady company like EA. So it is up to them.

Strike one for them as far as I am concerned (and I am a heavy Cash Shop spender). It's not about how many days I got to play, but what they advertised and not receiving what they advertised.

It's all about there pitch (word) and how they stuck to it. Yes, I love ESO. It is one of the most beautiful games I ever owned. The freedom to do what I want. So this isn't knocking the game.

I'm sorry you guys have had such a tough time getting to play for the past few days, I'm kinda feeling the withdrawal symptoms as well.

Though I hope you guys understand that taking a server down is not something that is done lightly nor is it something the tech team over at Zenimax likes to do.
When there is a small issue to be fixed and they know where to find it, it's possible to clear it up by just adding in a few hotfixes while the server is running.

Now, for big problems like the login issue and bank issue from yesterday. These are problems that have to do with a very integral part of their systems which means that there's no feasible way to fix it while it is being used heavily.

I like to compare it to fixing a machine in a big factory. When there's a mechanical failure, you shut the machine down in order to do repairs, you can't do the repairs while it's running because you'll either damage the machine further or you just can't get to the part you need because it's spinning/twisting when the machine is on.

I hope you guys understand and have a great time when the servers get back on.

    Greetings,
    Beucko

i have deff seen worse probs at a games launch look at FFXIV they had players locked out of early access the entire time it was up but they at least tryed to make up for their probs by adding extra time and stuff.

A lot of people purchased the game early as a result of the indicated 5 or 3 day early access "bait" aka what we say we'll offer you so that you'll go ahead and buy our product. This was one of the selling points for pre-purchase. How many people would have pre-purchased the game if they had been told that there would be some major downtime (something like 20+hours now)? I think I would have waited had I known. I understand there have been unanticipated problems... but the planned maintenance in the middle of the day, for 3-4 hours the day before "official" launch... probably not the best idea (imho). I would have done the scheduled maintenance at maybe 1 AM EST? I'm just saying..

I actually didn't know about any downtime because I have a full time job and activity so I only play for an hour on the weeknights. I've played every night so far this week with no issues. So no, I don't feel "screwed" out of early access. I love love love love love ESO so far. Perfect game for people with lives.
