And there it is.. the ZOS employee comes in, tells us were naughty while no actual information is passed along. I really don't think you guys understand the frustration of outage after outage after outage since Summerset. Instead you throw up a banner, call it a day.. and sometime tomorrow it will be back up again with absolutely no information. Wash, rinse, repeat. Sadly my ESO+ was just subbed a couple of weeks otherwise I probably would have quit by now.

The green post is a forum mod, their job is be on the forums and make sure everything is in accordance with the rules. They have nothing to do with the Dev team. They have nothing to do with login servers, bug reports, patch notes, or anything like that.

That's wrong because I have seen plenty of "green posters" say The devs this, the devs that, we are doing this, we are doing that.

Yes, green posts are Dev accounts Community Manager accounts, and Forum Moderator accounts. They copy paste previous statements from Dev and CM accounts and enforce forum rules. That ONE specific one is from a Forum Moderator.

I understand that, and hopefully others do too and wont take their frustration out on them.

Having said that though, there is a severe lack of communication between the players and the dev team, and I think it is totally reasonable to voice frustration about it. Either the Devs need to get on here themselves and address the community, or they go through the middle-man and tell the forum mods what to say on their behalf.

A petition also doesn’t tell them anything they don’t know in this situation. They know we are pissed and we are seeing how they choose to respond to that.

I'm aware of how corporations work; it just shocked me and shows the extent to which Zenimax really doesn't concern itself with its subscriber base.

I agree with the lack of communication from the CMs and Dev team. It's almost always late and usually minimal. Theybe been called out before on it and promise to improve but rarely do. They keep mods out of initial announcements just to keep continuity on who is supposed to be a representative of the company/game itself and the forum. BUt yeah, Gina, Jess, Rich, someone needs to get on here and say something, even though what they will most likely say will not be liked.

Ok, I just cancelled by ESO plus sub effective 7/13/2018. For me, ESO server NA was unavailable via steam one day during the memorial day weekend and today 4 July. Twice is on purpose.

ESO is a great game, an useless to me if it's unavailable. If you really want to keep me as a paying customer, I request that you do one of these things:

    1) Let me get the hell away from steam in order to play ESO. If this means $ to get away from Steam, that's fine with me. Availability is far more important to me. This is the most desirable option to me.
    2) Assure me in no uncertain terms with $ penalties to you that you and Steam have worked out your differences and this sort of nonsense has ended forever. Steam killing my access to ESO is insanely absurd and I will no longer tolerate this nonsense.Work it out, guys.

There are other games out there, people, I am not trapped into putting up with whatever nonsense you and Steam wish to dole out.

Is it still possible to unlink the steam version from your account? I originally played on the non-steam client, then when i purchased the game on steam it linked and I'd like to unlink if possible. Already sent an email to support to see if it's possible, but would like to know anyone else's experience with it.

If you started without Steam and then added a Steam key, you are able to use the standalone ZOS launcher - just like me. You don't have to unlink anything.

I agree with all of that. Instead of playing tonight I am researching what mmo has the criteria I want in an online game rather than playing. Not expected but I don’t expect any of what you said to happen. Which is sad because it would probably not be hard to let us just log in with eso64.exe, and being that we know of a perfectly good solution that we are not getting (unless we pay them for it) is insulting.

I restarted from scratch a few weeks ago because of this with a fresh account from ZOS(I had just got back into the game after a year anyway). I politely arm twisted both ZOS & Steam and ZOS got Steam to refund my year old copy of the game.

Took me about a week of back and forth with both companies but we got it sorted out......I refuse to be held hostage by whatever the heck is the problem between these two companies.

Once upon a time, I uninstalled the original and then installed the Steam version. My eso64.exe is in the Steam folders.

I wonder if you had to have an ESO account login that predated the Steam move? I had to look up my old info.

So, that was only seven hours of downtime this time instead of twelve. Congratulations on the improvement.

I would like to know what the problem was, if it was the same problem as last time, and if the fix is permanent or if we should expect further issues.

    Thanks.

The problem was a US holiday and ZOS inability to handle that much traffic. Steam users are treated as 2nd class citizens because ZOS didn't make as much a profit on us as those who bought directly from them, plain and simple.

lol. Obviously incorrect. Zos does not stop anyone from discussion things in a constructive manner. Petitions are not exactly constructive. They are more of a demand, which is not permitted for obvious reasons as stated.

If you buy a ZOS version on the ESO site using the same account it'll let you log in without using Steam, only costs $10.

What do the ToS say about downtime? I couldn't read that novel it was too much legalese.

FWIW I agree. Its frustrating to have a paid service be unavailable with no information.

Ugh - no eyeroll emoji? Anyway, from a quick scan of https://zenimax.com/legal_terms_us:

"ZeniMax does not guarantee that any Services will be available at all times, in all countries and/or all geographic locations, at any given time, or that ZeniMax will continue to offer any particular Services for any particular length of time."

"Except as prohibited by applicable law and subject to the Statutory Obligations (as defined in Section 1), You agree that ZeniMax will not be liable for any interruption of the Services, delay or failure to perform, any loss of Content (including, but not limited to, UGC, Game Mods and Downloadable Content), and/or Account data (including, but not limited to, Character data) resulting from any causes whatsoever."

In non-"legalese," the game isn't guaranteed to be up 24/7, and you can't sue ZOS or otherwise expect reimbursement if it goes down for any reason for any length of time.

BTW, the "Statutory Obligations" thing refers to laws specific to the EEA, Russia, Switzerland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Also BTW, the two clauses above are bog standard for just about any online service.

Is that your opinion or a general player consensus, and has ZOS confirmed it? I’d really like to know the answer to my original question as I consider my future as a subscriber and as a player.

I have an ESO account predating the Steam version, and that's why I can still use the standalone launcher. My current installed ESO is also the one from Steam, but it's working fine without Valve's client.

Amen to this! I canceled my ESO Plus and do not intend to purchase things with real money until this is fixed. Please let me get away from Steam. I filed a ticket to complain about the login issue and was told that if I wanted to get away from Steam I could buy ANOTHER copy and that would let me use the ESO launcher. ZOS, this is not an acceptable solution. I suggest you give all Steam users a free copy so we can do this instead of trying to grab more money from us.

Most of us have other games and have reached the pain point where ESO is not worth it anymore.

So what's the RFO ZOS? What is being done to combat these outages every 7 to 10 days for hours at a time? Why can't we get a straight answer from you?
