No they will not do that. I have tried to communicate with Steam and ESO but they will not comment.

That's an entire problem on it's own. Valve is not hosting separate servers for us They are all ZOS "mega-servers" Steam launcher only does a hand over. People have already traced the connection so this has nothing to do with steam.

Seems like it has everything to do with Steam since people with steam linked accounts cant log in.

I have had Steam for 11 years. I have 67 games on steam including six other MMOS. I have NEVER had a problem with any steam games but this one. So the problem is NOT steam, it is ESO. Are they bad at coding? Are non steam user given priority? Do they just not want to spend the money to replace/ upgrade an outdated login server? Who knows. All i know is the problem is DEFINITIVELY not with steam.

So all of these people that can't login to the PC NA server using Steam aren't having a problem with their Steam connected accounts?

I've been part of the system since closed beta. I have linked my bethesda/eso account to steam, and have been affected by this issue. Off and on, I am unable to use the steam launcher, and while using the EXE directly seems to work most of the time, it doesn't work ALL of the time. So it is NOT just Steam as it DOES affect users who are NOT using the Steam launcher. It's just those that are able to not use the steam launcher (those that purchased before One Tamriel) seem to have a better chance to log in.

So what you're saying is, people that bought the game through Steam are having problems and people that linked their accounts with Steam are having issues, yeah sounds like an issue with Steam.

You're not seeming to be comprehending this. If I hadn't linked my account to Steam, I would STILL be having this issue (as many others have pointed out). Therefore it is NOT a Steam issue (at least not directly).

So you're saying that regular PC accounts are having login issues? Cuz it seems like the issue only with steam and steam related accounts.

Godsdamnit. I hate Steam. I've got utterly no use for it aside from being forced to use it to play *this* game. Why won't ZOS/Bethesda let me just fix my existing account to get rid of the Steam part of it? GRAAAHHH!!

I personally would like to see a real technical explanation of this issue posted when it is resolved (which I'm sure they wil do at some point) but I guess for tonight I'm done. Unless I feel like fiddling on pts which does work. If it's a steam problem I would happily just unlink even it it meant re-buy and resubscribe if I knew for a fact that I could keep my characters progression.

Is it still possible to unlink the steam version from your account? I originally played on the non-steam client, then when i purchased the game on steam it linked and I'd like to unlink if possible. Already sent an email to support to see if it's possible, but would like to know anyone else's experience with it.

I commented on this before someone found out if you already have your account on steam before and linked to ESO you can buy an extra copy off the ES store and add it onto your account so that you can play through the ESO launcher instead, but for warning I heard if you had a sub on steam still running it will cancel it if you do this

Yes, I know of a few people personally who have never linked their accounts to steam, who have been having issues logging in at the same time as all the other 'steam won't let us log in' issues. It's just that the vast majority of players HAVE linked their steam account and/or bought it through steam. ESO userbase has grown significantly since it was able to be bought through Steam.

I would suggest that we can't tell who is causing the problem. To me, this seems like some sort of confirmation going on between the Steam player account and the ESO player account to make sure you can play the game. Fault could lie on either side, and honestly, my guess is that it is a Valve problem.

No offense to your sensibilities in this matter. JHowever, after recent weeks of this issue cropping up and the last time lasting multiple days I would suggest two things.

One, Give these guys/gals some idea of what is going on if it is on your end or just straight up tell them Steam is trying to figure it out if that is the case.

Second, I am sure you agree that everyone here deserves to be able to play the game. It seems we are getting to the point of Zos considering renegotiating that agreement with Steam to let these players release their game from Steam.

With Steam is becoming a this much of a hindrance for a significant part of your player base they become a liability. I have a couple people in TS with me that are in that group frustrated that on their day off they cannot play the game and recall going about 3 days last time this happened earlier this month.

Edit: and please do not get me wrong. We appreciate everything you guys do to communicate with us.

I can confirm that accounts created through Steam, AFTER the One Tamriel update, will allow you to login using the EXE.

My grandma started playing ESO on the June 11th, 2018. Her copy of ESO was purchased that same day.

I was able to get her logged in by doing the following:

    Browse to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client
Your install path may be different. You can easily find it by right clicking the game in Steam, clicking properties, choosing the 'Local Files' tab in the popup, and clicking "browse local files", then finding the correct sub-folder.

Open "eso64.exe". Type in your username, then your password. You will probably have to check the email associated with your ESO account (may or may not be the same as your steam email address, hers wasn't), and input the security code.

Thats it. She was able to login and play just fine, and I am 100% sure that her copy was purchased on the 11th, as I bought it for her. She didn't have an existing account prior to this.

Thanks all, we’re working on the Steam login issue.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Please consider giving all Steam PC players the ability to use the regular PC launcher/ESO64.exe.

This has gotten far out of hand and would go a long way to mitigating losses in the future when this problem rears its head again. Because it will.

You know for another game I played, when occurrences like this happened, they compensated players for time not being able to log in. Usually it was in-game rewards but it was something. Considering many are subscribers to ESO this fact, that they don't, fumes me. Like they don't give a sh't that our money is being wasted, while they every few days seem to plan some sort of disconnect. Yes I say 'plan' because this happens wayyy too often. This should've been fixed after the first or second time. Utterly ridiculous!

It would be ok with me if this happened once a couple months, but almost every week!? And especially on holidays and weekends? Really?

I could understand if this was a small company, but this is Bethesda. What do you do with all that money you get from ESO+ subscriptions and the crown store? Is it so hard to finally hire professionals who can fix log in and other issues?
