I ventured over to Bethesda Forum page, (I think its where all Moderators actually get their info) Turns Every game Bethesda has released on Steam is not working. Bethesda has their Own Server System, which by The way is in BETA mode currently.
Do these things all point to The Trouble? Probably not, But I learn a lot about what The Company's close friends and workers talk about. Definitely more Adult then Steam forums. So BETHESDA/ZeniMax send information to ESO through Company computers, an UPDATE there could be passed on To Steam, or is that not feasible? Steam isn't The BETA SERVER IN DeFUNCT MODE.

I wonder if Zenimax knows HOW bad this is? It happens almost every week. This can't be good to their bottom line.

I don’t see how it affects their bottom line. For a returning player like me it affects my willingness to resub my eso+, but how many people are in that situation? Relatively speaking probably not that many compared to 1) the amount of people who already bought the game and will not be getting thag money back, 2) the amount of people who will keep playing when they are allowed to without login issues and who will keep resubbing + because they have invested so much time into the game, or 3) their best scenario where people buy the game again to get a key that actually lets them play the game.

So I don’t see how this is hurting them in any negligible way. If it did then they would so something about it.

Have anyone heard of ZOS before? They are doing an awesome job at handling a massive amount of users.

Why wouldn’t they just let us log in normally since this is a recurring problem that they have not are are not willing to fix? Do they just want us to buy the game twice to be able to have the luxury of using eso64.exe to start the game? People who bought it on steam long enough ago were given that capability so why was it taken away, and why not offer that as a solution to those of us who are having this issue?

It's the similar eason why they can't just migrate am account to or from consoles, the specific account was created using a 3rd party that is tied to the account. In this case, allegedly getting a new PC key will work to transfer from the 3rd party.

Would they have the capability of switching keys for steam users? I could see how issuing keys might be an issue since some might give or sell those keys to others but it seems like the most straightforward fix for this problem, unless they just want us to get frustrated enough to pay them for their problems by buying a second key (which is a bit tin foil hatty and I’m not willing to believe it was orchestrated like that).

What about all the stuff that people have on their first account? Will that stuff transfer over, or will they have to start from scratch? I sure as hell have no intention of doing the latter.

That would all transfer, and easily. People who buy a second key just have to log in and all of their stuff is exactly as it was before - your username is what ties that to your account.

That's an entire problem on it's own. Valve is not hosting separate servers for us They are all ZOS "mega-servers" Steam launcher only does a hand over. People have already traced the connection so this has nothing to do with steam.

Seems like it has everything to do with Steam since people with steam linked accounts cant log in.

I have had Steam for 11 years. I have 67 games on steam including six other MMOS. I have NEVER had a problem with any steam games but this one. So the problem is NOT steam, it is ESO. Are they bad at coding? Are non steam user given priority? Do they just not want to spend the money to replace/ upgrade an outdated login server? Who knows. All i know is the problem is DEFINITIVELY not with steam.

What? Bethesda didn't outsource anything. Zenimax Studios (the owner of Bethesda Studios and the publishing arm) started a separate studio, Zenimax Online Studios, to make the game. Quit s posting and get a life.

Coin store purchases and subscription accounts. Pretty sure they make a good amount from both (especially on a day like the 4th of July), and both require constant up-time.

Yes, Most people understand that is not a Steam issue. Though, there are a few nay sayers such as:

that put one with two together in such an elegant way that makes you feel hopeful about humanity

I've owned the game for 3 week and this has happened twice. I just subscribed to ESO+ last night and now cannot connect.
Since its happening to only Steam users, is it possible to opt into a new key? I would be happy to switch if it would limit the downtime I experience. I'm just afraid to invest anymore (Summerset) while being linked to a biweekly issue on Steam.

I've been part of the system since closed beta. I have linked my bethesda/eso account to steam, and have been affected by this issue. Off and on, I am unable to use the steam launcher, and while using the EXE directly seems to work most of the time, it doesn't work ALL of the time. So it is NOT just Steam as it DOES affect users who are NOT using the Steam launcher. It's just those that are able to not use the steam launcher (those that purchased before One Tamriel) seem to have a better chance to log in.

If you played the game longer than two hours which after 3 weeks you most likely did Steam won't refund your money.
you can pay ZOS directly for a new key and pay for eso plus again, they would love you to do so.

There's a way if you already had it linked you have to rebuy the game on the ESO website and add the cd key to your account and then you can use the regular launcher to play, oh but if you had a steam sub do not do this because it will cancel it I heard

You're not seeming to be comprehending this. If I hadn't linked my account to Steam, I would STILL be having this issue (as many others have pointed out). Therefore it is NOT a Steam issue (at least not directly).

Is it still possible to unlink the steam version from your account? I originally played on the non-steam client, then when i purchased the game on steam it linked and I'd like to unlink if possible. Already sent an email to support to see if it's possible, but would like to know anyone else's experience with it.
