is there any way to exchange a steam version for the "official" version, cuz this sucks

nothing to do with steam, their servers give priority to non steam users
Why is that exactly? We are paying the same kind of money as non steam users - I have read this multiple times while searching about this issue so why is it that steam users are second class citizens to them?

There is zero evidence that login are prioritized, this person is just pulling info out their rear end.

From what I’ve read many people were able to get in if they simply buy a key from Zeni directly (buying the game a second time). Wouldn’t that indicate that they are prioritizing support for non steam users if those on Steam are constantly not able to log in during peak playing times and you can justness pay them again for a non steam key to get in and play?

No, it would simply indicate that there is an issue with loggin into ESO via steam. Because if prioritization was the case, every evening in the EU and NA Steam logins would start failing. That's not the case. So why would prioritization even be a thought?

I got a steam card for $20.00 I wonder if I can buy a Zenimax key with it hah. That was sarcasm btw since I know I cant

    Ok, so what gives?

I was playing this morning just fine 10-12am est. When I came back at 6pm est, Steam users are not able to log in.

    WHY!!!!?????

There is no indication there were any patches or updates or even hotfixes. So what the heck happened during those six hours?

I get that issues happen after an update or patch (I don't condone) as making sure everything works for the Steam launcher is beyond last priority. But what on Earth happened today?????

    WHY!!!??????

if there was a way to unlink your steam account @ https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/ then you could use the stand alone launcher. but at the moment there is not. You can unlink your twitch account though :p
We steam users paid a reduced price or even if we paid regular price valve took their 30-40% commission therefore
we are treated this way by ZOS.
There are issues that last longer than a year for a specific group. that's not discrimination at all.

I've noticed Steam has been a bit wonky the last couple of days. Maybe it's due to the summer sale ending soon, and things are getting overloaded?

We seem to often get login issues on public holidays and event weekends, is this because their servers get overwhelmed or something?

I definitely doubt it's helping things any, but this is just like several outages we (i.e., Steam logins) had last month, so I don't think they're explicitly related.

That's an entire problem on it's own. Valve is not hosting separate servers for us They are all ZOS "mega-servers" Steam launcher only does a hand over. People have already traced the connection so this has nothing to do with steam.

Seems like it has everything to do with Steam since people with steam linked accounts cant log in.

4th time in 3 weeks I can't get on because of server time out issues.

Steam user here. Sort this out ZOS, the amount of money you take off us. Any other industry or business you would be sacked for gross incompetence. You cannot keep providing a faulty service to paying customers.

Logged in to EU, created a character and started to play, can't login NA (steam user here), so seems like a NA server problem.

Out of curiosity, what does Zenimax mean by MEGA?

Like when someone says they have superpowers ...

They are powers, I do not know what makes them super.

It's a term used to make you feel confident that they can handle a Massive Multiplayer Online game, but has nothing to do with reality.

it means that its the whole NA not east and west or an deviation from being a whole server for a geographical location. it doesnt mean anything towards how powerful or capable the actual hyardware is for the server.

Why wouldn’t they just let us log in normally since this is a recurring problem that they have not are are not willing to fix? Do they just want us to buy the game twice to be able to have the luxury of using eso64.exe to start the game? People who bought it on steam long enough ago were given that capability so why was it taken away, and why not offer that as a solution to those of us who are having this issue?

Edit: also I tried logging into EU as well and it is working, which it didn’t earlier, so it does look like a NA thing.

And me too. Unfortunately, I purchased everything through Steam instead of elsewhere so I can't run the exe directly (and my account is newer than 2016). ZOS please give us a way to move our Steam games to non-Steam environment and fix these login errors. It's not Steam's issue since they hand off to you.

They really should add a clear warning on their store page that makes it clear that the Steam copies of ESO are not fully supported currently. It'd at least be honest of them. But I guess that might be asking too much.

NA mostly US players on a holiday. Server can't handle it. ZOS priority are those who paid directly to them for the game. isn't it obvious?

It's the similar eason why they can't just migrate am account to or from consoles, the specific account was created using a 3rd party that is tied to the account. In this case, allegedly getting a new PC key will work to transfer from the 3rd party.

Don't worry guys in a few hours the censorship police (Mods) will remove your replies so the problem goes away, until it happens again, so it will be a brand new issue. and they will investigate as a brand new case. repeat.

Would they have the capability of switching keys for steam users? I could see how issuing keys might be an issue since some might give or sell those keys to others but it seems like the most straightforward fix for this problem, unless they just want us to get frustrated enough to pay them for their problems by buying a second key (which is a bit tin foil hatty and I’m not willing to believe it was orchestrated like that).

That migration of users has a cost that ZOS is not willing to take. Plus it would not solve their inability to handle the amount of users. They will give you a crate tho, so you better be happy.

If Steam logins were down for like a week straight, they might do that. Or if Steam stopped allowing the logins altogether. It would take something MAJOR for them to issue new to like that.
