Wish they could fix how often the servers go down, especially with Steam players. Is it on Steam or ZOS's end?
  • Kittybitty
This always seem to happen on a weekend or a holiday. Think its server traffic related?

The steam login issue has been fixed twice in the past month. Maybe third time's a charm.

Not sure this has to do with Steam because I can login to EU server with no issue. Please fix this ZoS.

Same. Login issues, EU. Was able to get around it by using the eso64.exe, but yeah... Steam divorce when, Zenimax?

Is there a trick to this? When I try that it tells me that I have to login through Steam. Also, I asked this on another thread before seeing this bigger one but are these problems considered “normal” and/or expected nowadays? I played for quite a while but stopped playing a little before wardens were released. I came back a few days ago, subbed up to ESO+ and have had issues that make it hard to play like interior walls, ceilings and floors disappearing making it impossible to navigate and keeping me from doing some quests but of course not being able to log in is worse. If just like to know since I was having fun doing all of the things I missed while I was gone but if these problems are common then I’d save myself the frustration and play some other online game.

In terms of actual uptime, ESO is well above 99%. An outage on a major US holiday is just more frustrating.

But of the 3 years I've played, it's never been buggier or have worse performance.

An option to de-link from Steam would be grand, ZOS. Don't care if I have to pay for it either, just make it happen.

Thanks all, we’re working on the Steam login issue.

this wasn't exclusively a steam launcher downtime, as a non steam user I couldn't log in for a bit (but I can now)

I tried this out of curiosity (I’m a steam user) and it won’t connect me to the EU servers either.

It has nothing to do with Steam. It's all in Zenimax Online, as of matter of fact I wish Valve would take over and fire all the people that can't fix a longer than a year recurring problem.

Yet again, this is around the 6th or 7th time this year. How's the investigation going you bunch of Sherlock's? They repeat the same message every time yet have never once said what the problem is. Seems unsolvable and takes around 12 hours on average before people can play again. Disgusting.

Servers might as well go down on PS4. Play 10 minutes freeze. Log back on play 5 minutes freeze. Give up and come back later for freeze during loading screen logging back on.

My guess is that "mega servers" cannot handle so many people playing at the same time and give priority to those who do not connect thru Steam Launcher. Zenomax Online response will always be: "We are aware that some Steam players are having issues logging into the North American and European PC/Mac megaservers. We are actively investigating and will let you know when we have an update. Thank you!" They keep posting the same excuse since last year. They never have a fruitful investigation and end this recurring problem. They don't have the balls to tell us that their "mega servers" are crappy and the issue has nothing to do with Steam.

Is this how long it usually takes to fix? If they were to announce “sorry everyone, you aren’t playing on your day off” it would be better than sitting around waiting to see if this will be resolved any time tonight.

    Same. Again.

Still waiting to hear about how Steam users can catch up with the rewards from last month on the days they couldn't log in. Also still waiting to hear about how Steam users can catch up with the Crown Crate event that we missed when we couldn't log in.

Mind you, I am still waiting to hear how I can actually use the 5k Crown Fang Lair motif that I bought and still doesn't work.

I say "Steam users". I mean, of course, paying customers.

    1. Zenimax Online already got your money.
    2. Why would they upgrade their servers if they can bore people to death with constant disconnections and inability to log-in
    3. Steam launcher in other games (mmporpg's) work just fine. But you never see them saying"this has nothing to do with Steam" They want people to think that to shift the blame.

Neither have I. And from reading up on it it seems like they say they fix it but probably just work to resolve issues for non steam users since this seems to be an ongoing issue. Are there not enough steam users for them to care enough about a long term fix or would whatever the problem is be too expensive for them to fix?
