When you consider the weight of one of Skyrim's dragons, they would need an immense wingspan to get airborne. Their bodies have a sharper shape kept in mind. Their chests convex.
As to wing span this is because Dragons use aedric powers to fly. That is why it takes a shout to force one to the ground and experience 'Mortality'

They don't use "Aedric powers" to fly. Magic is what "grants them the abilities to speak and fly despite their lack of lips or aerodynamic frame." The Thu'um also is not "aedric powers," it is a form of magic. Magic comes from Aetherius, not the Aedra. (Tho, both the Daedra and the Aedra have used magic)

Here's the thing though, when we talk "realism" the realism you are looking for only really applies to us on Earth, yes many of the creatures of Nirn are similar, if not identical biologically to the creatures on Earth, but you need to keep in mind, this is a different planet in a different universe we are talking about. Biology can act differently there, hell, the laws of physics can be entirely different.

Just because Nirn and Earth share similar things, doesn't mean that the same rules apply, an herbivore on Nirn can have pointed-teeth and a digestive system that would seem to not be possible on Earth because it its not Earth.

Again, different planet, different universe; there are similarities, there are differences; the realism/biology/laws of physics of Earth only apply to Earth, Nirn has its own set of rules, its own biology, etc.

Even though this was once earth, it was so long ago that things are not like they used to be. Heck, even humans have been replaced by other races, so don't expect dinosaurs to make a come back.

Or daedroths as well. Daedroths are cool.

I would like a daedroth mount, riding on its back while it walks on 2 legs looking very scary to my enemies.
SWTOR sort of did this with Rancor mounts but they had seats on their heads because of their hunchback spine instead of the standing grip points a daedroth would require.

This would be so cool to have a daedroth mount.
