Yup, my main problem with ye olden MMOs (at least the ones I played at the time) is that everyone looks the same. Same armor, same colors, there might be difference between armor classes but that's it. That is the one single biggest detriment to immersion for me.

We see how differently people express themselves on planet Earth, I don't think societies in these MMO universes would be much different. Within one culture there could easily be a lot of people who dress differently than the traditional, common, and mundane. Some might not even identify with the culture they originate from and decide to adopt the trappings of another culture. People generally don't wear uniforms unless they have to. Especially considering we are relatively wealthy adventurers who can easily afford all these customized non standard armors.

As for lore breaking, ZoS has a license (of some kind) to develop the Elder Scrolls Intellectual Property. They work with Bethesda to make sure everything fits together. What they release, therefore, cannot be lore breaking because it is by definition canon. Simply how IP laws work.

We can argue about the effectiveness of your communication skills all day long but I find it odd you are attempting to defend a statement that you have not played since launch as one meant to convey that you just returned to the game after being away for 4 years.

If that is so important you to then lets rock this discussion.

NVM, this is just sad. If you want that to mean you just return to the game then fine. We can view it as something you intended us to understand it was an intended meaning.

What I meant to convey was neither of those two options. I have not played since launch means, in my book at least, that I have not played for the entire 4 years that the game was available, but started playing later on.

Think about it. If I were to say "I have not been here since the beginning", would you think I was here at the beginning and then left or that I came here after the beginning. For me it's obviously the latter and for most other's on the forums as well. But I do see how you could have interpreted it differently, and I'm fine with that.

Anyway, hope this clears things up. No offense to you mate but some times it's good to approach the discussion with an open mind

yeah but what you consider hideous is not the authority on the subject. Thankfully thats not for any of us to decide. And customization, while being a big money maker for a game, is also a HUGE selling point to players to even PLAY a game. Toning down customization would only hurt the game.

and besides, it hurts no one. Damages nothing. Takes away from nothing. This just sounds like a case of "Well, I don't like it, so it should change for my enjoyment" and thankfully that is not how life or video games work.

So go forth everyone and make any armor, outfit, costumes you like. And if people don't like it, then they don't need to look in your direction. =p

And about having an open mind. Wanting things the way you want them, which is what you're asking for here, let's be honest. Is not having an open mind. Having an open mind would be you accepting that people have different opinions on "what looks good" and what is "immersive" and that they can all coexist. But that's not what you're putting out there so *shrugs*

I'm assuming you're referring to the flame atronach mounts. How are they not lore friendly? Flame atronachs are canon, and ESO expanded on them in a reasonable way.

If they looked like fire atronachs perhaps... But they are melted cheese mounts. Perhaps in Shivering isles you could see them, but...

Unfortunately not, I have upgraded from a GTX 670 to a GTX 1070 Ti Advanced STRIX but my monitor is still 1080 HD...sorry..also my i5 cpu is about 6 years old now so would struggle at 4K lol.

Maybe when I build my new PC end of year/next year..plan on going 4-8k..maybe..

Screens were taking with Sweet FX and Hook 64 which just changes the colors and removes the silly ZOS distance fog they put in every single part of the game with the same grey fog and color ting....

Does not even give me the option of 4k, I could use Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) but never really looked into 4k as an option as I knew my hardware/cpu would not hack it well.

I call this guy PUGPLAR, he is literally the Tank, the Healer and the Damage Dealer all in one, he will drag any newbie pug group that dies 100 times and even with them all on the floor will still drag them all to completion with hard mode!!!1!

What do you guys think of a toggle option that disables flashy things - aka replace all special mounts with horses, make pets disappear and maybe even the floating balls of certain sets. The more customizable the options, the better.

What caught my attention the most in this threat is that you say you have not played since launch.
Why do you even care if people want flashy mounts?
You can only use the 10k gold brown horse if you want to, but let people enjoy their shiny mounts.

Variety is the spice of fake video game life. It would be dull if everyone looked the same. Drab sameness might make sense if this were elder peasants online, but most players are playing as legendary heroes so of course they're flashy.

I would like less glowing monster mounts, this means I am not open minded?

How is wanting the option to toggle off eye sores (in my opinion) any different from wanting more such mounts in the game? My proposed change hurts nobody, except those who would impose their "look" on others. And quite frankly I see no reason why I should be subjected to hordes of neon coloured peacocks strutting around in my game. If you enjoy those costumes and mounts, you can still enjoy them. If you don't, you are no longer forced to put up with them.

Also I didn't say I was an authority on aesthetics. I merely stated that I found some more recent additions to the outfit system immersion or lore breaking, which is a valid point. You are welcome to agree or disagree with me on this.

You can't just claim the moral high ground like that. Telling me I can't accept different opinions and that I want everyone to obey my every wish is not very constructive. It is a very aggressive approach to debating an issue and I don't think anyone appreciates that, you wouldn't either.

I don't mind people's appearance. I'm bugged that the game itself uses too many flashing animations. I'm sure on PC it's fine because if you've got a high end computer, it can deal with it. But my poor PS pro sometimes has enough of it and the framerate drops a lot. Plus it sometimes gives me a headache.
I wish there was an option to limit someone else's animations...
