Game has become too flashy!

The mounts that explode when you summon them are over the top but the armor options are fantastic in my opinion. Before outfitting, the dozens and dozens of motifs in the game were a complete waste. Now, I love the options available.

But please, PLEASE, by The Eight, give me an option to hide all pets. When I can't even click on a chest or merchant because every dress-wearing, stick-carrying sorc has a pet flapping around, it's time to hide them all.

Non-combat pets are the biggest waste of pixels on me. I'm not sure how many FPS they cost me (I'm typically at 70-100 anyway) but I'm sure they are a drain on lower end PCs.

That all said, cosmetics, mounts, and non-combat pets are the WIN for ZoS. They can add as much as they want, charge what they want, and no one can complain about P2W. It's really nice, balanced system.

The same goes basically as well for the warden bear - that is why I unsummon these minions when I enter town - there is no reason why those would have to flap around and bother others. I am anyway careful with having them out, because they tend to aggro any random trap and I have to bail them out again then - I use them if I really have to, but not if I can handle the situation as well without them.

I enjoy the outfit variation for the most part. I force myself to look past the occasional fat Orc wearing nothing but a Nord bath towel dyed bright pink and bright lipstick.

I do agree about the mounts though. All the various atranoch mounts are way over the top for me. I understand that they exist because people are willing to pay big bucks for flashy (LOOK AT ME) mounts, doesn't mean I have to like them.

I like my pets and my Bear and wolf mounts. During RP I don't use or wear anything "Flashy"

If I'm running around farming *shrug* I might ride a flaming Sencha .. why not its amusing..

I don't like the flying pets that can get in my way in a dungeon or questing and I personally would not use them, if I had any , in a delve, dungeon etc. where they would interfere with some else 's play.

I don't own any of these pets, and don't plan to buy one.

This is probably the only reason I tried really hard to get a Frostbane gorse/bear mount. It has spectacular detail, but it's not some flashy gooey thing that I summon out of my butt. It really looks like something my Nord would ride beside his burly husband.

As for others, well, living in NYC, you appreciate that everyone is their own individual. ¯\_(o_o)_/¯

What is wrong with looking good? In my opinion, as long as the costumes are okay with the universe and lore (and they are right now), they're fine. Yes, there were horses, but guars and all others are also cool in-game mounts that do exist in the lore. ZOS doesn't make cartoony shiny stuff, but all that looks quite fine.

Not sure how mounts made from melted cheese fit in lore

I'm assuming you're referring to the flame atronach mounts. How are they not lore friendly? Flame atronachs are canon, and ESO expanded on them in a reasonable way.

    The title says it all.

Raid groups look like a gathering of parade mascots, every player has a personal Tinkerbell pet buzzing around their head and mounts look trial bosses.

I haven't played the game since launch, but back then the game looked so much more beautiful (if you look at the videos). People used undyed breton armour and rode brown or white horses!

I get that people want to look "special" but Zos catering to these demands has turned TESO into "lord of the rings meets Avatar". A guy using pink Dro-M'Athra armour astride a red glowing ghost horse, looks like a vision from a skooma induced nightmare! Idk it has gone too far.

I know this will probably never happen, but if ZOS could just tone it down a bit, or better yet, add a toggle to display everyone in vanilla armour and with normal mounts that would be awesome. Might also help performance. ;)

LOL, a guy who says he
has not played the game since launch has a complaint about the cosmetics?

Certainly not the person Zos should be listening to since the complaint he puts forth is not even the reason he stopped playing the game YEARS ago.

And what a petty complaint it is.

If they looked like fire atronachs perhaps... But they are melted cheese mounts. Perhaps in Shivering isles you could see them, but...

wow from the title i thought this thread was for joke, but you were serious...

maybe it's because my precedent MMO was guild wars 2 that now has become fashion wars 2, but i think ESO is one of the most moderated mmo around when it comes for cosmetic items. it really is balanced to me, compared to other games that also rely heavily on the shop for cosmetics and personalization.

also i would use options that can help with this if you have problems, disable bloom perhaps, or disable character lighting and disable additional ally effects.

Seems like a simple inability to accept that different people exists. Yeah, there are a few people with whose fashion and cosmetic choices I wouldn't approve in the game, but whatever, they can do what they like and I can do what I like.

What are you proposing here? uniformity and conformism? Alright, except then I would instead argue for only the fashion choices I like to exist: more flashy, more extravagant, more complexity. Cause if someone's gonna try to impose their own fashion standards on people, then its a free for all for anyone else to try impose their own I isn't it?

I don't buy cosmetics, but I'm glad some people do so the game stays financed.

I've been running the flame cat that came with the Summerset pre-order because I find its gait to be smooth and comfortable. For outfits, I typically run a costume I've picked up, or if I bother taking the time to build an outfit, it's usually DC-themed in color and motif. Except for my female Redguard, who looks seriously fine in full Mazzatun.....

I do like Xivkyn polymorphs for beast races with tails.

I enjoy the variety. Some outfits and mounts are not to my taste, but like the real world, I don't expect or want everyone to look like me.

I imagine I would be bothered if people started turning up in Sailor Moon costumes though.

Funny enough, when the game launched there were complaints about how there weren't enough differences between mounts and armor designs etc. "Everyone looks the same", "how can I look unique" were things I recall hearing. We all knew it would take a while before real diversity in characters took hold and now that it's here it's funny to hear complaints about it.

And the posts made here will still have the function of representing the opinions of at least some segments of the playerbase to ZoS. I would like more variety to be available whether through new outfit or crown store items, and posts like these present an opportunity to let that be known.

The explosion bothers you, yet you take no issue with the pocket horse that you whistle into existence that also dissipates the moment you encounter a large mud puddle?

And none of these things prevent you with interacting with anything, for better than three years now.

If you can't locate the hitbox without some help, it sounds like more of a personal issue.

I have to admit that there are times I wish I could just "see" the character, rather than some silly skin, head-to-toe armor, ugly monster helmet, and so on.

The worst offender, IMO, is that new "rotting zombie" skin. Characters look HORRID wearing that.
