Lets all be honest, besides this issue there are a lot of things that could be changed about the game to make the game more MMO-like.
Look at some of the DLC quest lines for example. It wouldn't hurt for there to be an instance that required you to get a buddy every few quests like a two man or three man+.

You are forgetting that there are *always* going to be people who do not want to spend their limited game time grinding, and will buy things that other people spent hours gathering. It's a fair trade, their gold for someone else's time doing something that they consider incredibly boring. Some of us are stubborn and will spend hours grinding not to sell but just for the mats we will use ourselves, because we refuse to give our money to someone who may be the reason that we are having trouble finding mats in the first place. And some of us think that being stubborn is a huge waste of time and gets in the way of getting to what we really want to be doing, which is not grinding for mats. It would balance out.
