How can they possibly charge $130-$150 for a house

N0TPLAYER2

The new house - Princely Dawnlight Palace - costs 17,500 crowns to buy furnished.

Who can justify such a large price? I don’t see how the seller OR the buyer can reasonably defend these prices.

What planet are they on? And who is buying these homes?

If you’ve spent anywhere near this price on a house please explain the justification you made to do so. I just DONT get it. Even as a guild house, the game devs really shouldn’t be asking more than $15-$30 tops for these. They’re selling houses at 7x-8x the value of the base game plus dlc. It’s mind boggling to me.

Consumer, usually with disposable income. The perfect target. Also called "whale".
    What planet are they on?
A business will always sell to a market they think will accept the price.

The only way to reduce the price is to not buy the product.
And who is buying these homes?
    See above

My limit for a digital good is $50. Anything above this is an automatic no sale.

So the whales out there will ensure the price of this home will never come down.

Just curious: is this house available for in game gold? If so, what's the price.

Last time I looked the home wasn't available for sale.

A picture painting of Picasso recently sold for 115 million dollars. Obviously that is also a form of investment ...

It's all relative. I'm not paying those prices though. Out of principle and the wrath of my better half. :D

Because in the majority of the world digitally created items are worth nothing to them since it's just a click of a button you can't bring Picasso back from the dead to create another master piece. I also believe the majority of the value of those paintings by famous artists not resides in what they drew but who they were imo.

Because people with more money than sense buy these things. No way I'm paying that much for something in a game when the same amount of money can buy me 2 AAA brand new games. ZOS is ridiculous but the people who buy it are even more so, so ZOS is capitalizing on people who can't control impulses.

Oh absolutely - and I appreciate art, but if you think what 115m would mean to a lot of people on this planet ... really peanuts talking about a digital house. My perspective right now, that's all.

At the end of the day: it's no one else's business.

Buy it if you want, don't if you don't.

At the end of the day people are gonna pay so ZOS is gonna sell.

It's good for the game as a whole, and frankly if you can't afford/don't want to spend out on some pixels, then don't.

The business of saying it's just a bunch of pixels whilst simultaneously being salty about the price of a bunch of pixels isn't logical.

Either you want it or not, then you can buy it or not.

Don't assign zero value to it whilst complaining that it's too expensive because you want it, even though as also pointed out, it is essentially useless.

It's a luxury (as so many have pointed out) so you can afford luxuries or you can't/won't.

    That's the end of it.

I will be buying (unfurnished). I have ESO+ and so get my crowns from that, and don't buy mounts, pets or costumes. So it is better to spend it on something I like (houses) than have tens of thousands of crowns I would never otherwise use sat building up.

Way to generalize people. Good job.

Many people 'with money' don't have money because they make impulse decisions, but rather because of smart decisions. Impulse decisions? That's a good way to be 'without money'.

Sure, some people who buy these items probably shouldn't if they were managing their finances right, but that doesn't mean everyone who buys this house or others at this price point are this way. For some people, this game is just a moderately priced hobby when buying these things that they get enjoyment out of. (I have other hobbies that cost me much, much more.)

Full disclosure: I have not purchased this house, but I may.

I admit I was a bit judgmental on someone that literally spent 30k on SC but I don't mean to be judgemental about those that spend more sane amounts of real $ on online games but rather than finding an average ground for everyone not just the ones well off in the real world.
