With a 5/5/2/2 setup with two staves I can either run a Willpower staff or an ability altering one. Seems like a fair trade-off.

How is that a fair trade-off??? You can buy a willpower staff from a guild store for a miniscule amount of gold, while an ability altering one takes time, effort and skill to get.

I do not care in the slightest about how difficult it is to obtain something when it comes to balance. If these weapons were only used in PvE you could argue that point with other PvEers of whom I hear many actually enjoy having to farm for long periods of time in order to be competitive with other players. But many are used in PvP, some even exclusively, and I have no interest in seeing them become BiS for nearly every build out there.

I have no interest seeing abilities or gear that can only be unlocked through PvP be BiS in PvE but we still have them (caltrops, vigor, warhorn, etc.). Frankly, everyone that plays PvE competitively doesn't mind doing PvP on all their characters just to get these since they are some of the best skills and are irreplaceable. So, you pvpers can spend some time farming PvE content to get the best weapons, and right now many of them are lackluster and deserve a buff.
I don't like having to farm for my character to be competitive
these weapons should be either not useful at all in PvP or on the same level of as many other competitive setups as possible.
You brought in the fact that these weapons are relatively difficult to obtain, compared to most alternatives. I simply don't care about that.

Why are you playing an MMORPG then?these weapons should be either not useful at all in PvP or on the same level of as many other competitive setups as possible.
Why not? PvErs NEED to get skills from PvP in order to be competitive. You brought in the fact that these weapons are relatively difficult to obtain, compared to most alternatives. I simply don't care about that.
If you don't care about that then why do you care about playing competitively?
I find it funny people who say vMA and other ability altering weapons don't need a buff or need a nerf are mostly people who don't have them, do not want to put effort to farm them, and wants easily available good set.
I just want to remind them that this is an MMORPG. If you want to not put in effort and PvP on equal ground, play MOBA or hero shooter or FPS. I also PvP in this game but I don't whine that I need to farm stuff to PvP well. I suck it up and farm them.
I understand that this game is relatively casual. But if the Devs don't give a good reason for players to do vMA, the game loses one of its most unique dungeon. After all, if I'm a new player and I can just use other equips, why would I even go and farm vMA by putting in so much effort ?

The vMA shield and board has it´s usage in PvP (not common but definitely usable). The vMA dual-wield are bugged as far as I know (unless they fixed them). That leaves the vMA 2hander and ice-staff, which I can agree are kinda underwhelming.

- Because it's fun. MMO and RPG. Two things I enjoy.
- Why not what? Why shouldn't they overshadow other setups? If that's what you asked, because build diversity is good. That doesn't have anything to do whatsoever with the need to farm gear for anyone.
- Are you serious? You think a competitive mindset somehow collides with a wish for balance and build diversity?

Two reasons to farm vMA (or 3 if you PvP):
#1 = vMA bow: Must have for a stamina DD if you want to be competitive in PvE. No other set/weapon in the game will give you such a DPS boost as the vMA bow. Master bow isn´t far behind when it comes to single target DPS. In my opinion the vMA bow needs a nerf. Will still be BiS for stambuilds next patch.
#2 = vMA destruction staff (lightning and inferno): A must have for magDD´s in PvE. Will still be BiS as backbar set next patch.
#3 = vMA restostaff: As a healer in PvP the staff is kinda nice to be honest.

- So it will be fun for you to grind and farm.
- There will always be a setup that beats other builds for the same purpose, but it doesn't necessarily mean it will beat it by a lot. You always need to farm the gear one way or another, though the game should reward you for harder to get gear.
- I don't see how giving the buff to ability altering weapons would hurt build diversity. In fact it will help it since people will actually use them more often in their builds.
Btw, you can play on PTS and there you go, everyone will have the best weapons and gear for free without any effort. Yay instant gratification.
RPG doesn't mean require grind. It usually entails progression. Pretty big difference.
It would hurt build diversity if it overshadows other options. Literally the definition of OP.
vMA weapons aren’t BiS in PvP. Asylum ones and vDSA master weapons are a different story. So yeah, vMA weapons could use a buff.
