    I went through the tutorial!

I thought it was really beautiful. I had no trouble navigating through it. The direction were clear up until the end it got a little glitchy. I went to fight the boss and the next thing I know I’ve been transported. I’m not sure what triggered it. Meaning I am not sure if I defeated the monster or if I was standing in the right place at the right time. Other than that it looks great. I didn’t spend much time navigating through it looking for treasure but the instructions were spot on!

I have not taken a look at much yet, but I do want to leave my biggest piece of feedback so far: The Ceporah Tower looks TINY from the outside. It looks like my character can occupy one of its spires in volume by himself. I'm not sure if this is fixable this late into development but it looks pretty bad and breaks immersion. Really doesn't fit with how well-done the rest of the Summerset landscape is

It's all about depth perception. They tried to make it appear taller without actually being taller by making the top smaller. It's the same trick Disney did for Cinerella's Castle in The Magic Kingdom in Florida.
It doesn't work that great if it isn't done perfectly and perspective has to be correct.

Edit: The above only applies if it is actually made that way. I didn't really look at the top in my testing. You have to also understand that your own "field of view" setting and actual physical eyes and depth perception need to be correctly perceiving the game world and structure to accurately assess the size of a farther away structure.

Tutorial - it was short but introduced you to the psijics. There was armor and lockpicks to be found during the tutorial to get a new character going. No place where sneak or lockpicking was used bu likely only new players to ESO would not already be familiar with those aspects.

Getting to Summerset - the new tutorial places you here. Existing characters can start the quest in the normal way through the crown store. That leads you to the boat for Summerset. Easy enough.

Abyssal Geyser - definitely a bit tougher than the normal dolmen. Very nice.

General Feedback - I haven't been in all the new delves, but I like that some of them have outdoor area. Not everything is a dark cave. Ebon Stadmont was very interesting, if a bit mind bending. Psijic portal for jewelry. I am glad they glow from a distance. Keeping my eyes open. Overall Summerset is very pretty. I find the new lore we are introduced to very interesting. And generally, the beta is far more polished than previous betas. I have yet to find any missing voiceovers.

    Hello all.
Things I've noticed in my first session:
1, Options for character build need to be highlighted in a clearer manner, ie, top left options.
2, When creating a High Elf Mage, no 'novice gear' showing, just in his pants.
3, A scar situated vertically through his left eye, (faint dark line) was showing in all options of face and head design. Couldn't remove it.
4, Level 2 rewards need giving at time when Oriandra has finished speaking and has moved to the cliff top.
5, I'm getting camera 'bounce', two up/down movements every, (I'm not certain) 30-40 seconds or so. I was thinking it was me but didn't touch the mouse or keyboard and it still happened.

First I created a new low-level character, and skipped the tutorial as I was unaware it would be different from the default (as the Vestige in Coldharbour). Spawned in Summerset with what in hindsight appears to be the tutorial quest reward box, giving my Sorceror a Greatsword and some pants and a few other items. The quest marker for the main quest showed and I started it, albeit I noticed some issues. Ran around the countryside a bit and enjoyed the scenery, and noticed much higher level characters running around. Discovered one could start at 750, so logged out.

Created a new Champion-level character and skipped the tutorial again (at the time still hadn't heard anything about how it was different). Spawned directly in Summerset in undies. Once all points spent and some gear donned, noticed there was no quest marker for the main quest. Fortunately I knew where it was from the previous attempt and proceeded.

It's really gorgeous, but considering how pretty the rest of the game is, I wasn't surprised at that. The culture shock did, though. The lingo takes some getting used to, but the racism... yikes.

I played the tutorial. It was fine. My only challenge so far has been it's tough to feel immersed in the game with your name written all over the pages. I know they are trying to protect the game from info getting out...but I find it soooo distracting!

I noticed the same in gamepad UI mode in first person, seeming to coincide with my personality changing idle animations.

Are you using gamepad and/or in first person playing?

This is my feedback on the new World Bosses. I don't know how easy/difficult they are intended to be, so I can't say they are too easy or too hard from the dev's standpoint, but I will say what I feel would be my "recommended" number of average players for a medium difficulty experience as well as any additional thoughts I have.

The Queen's Hatchery: 2-3 players. The short amount of time the boss is attackable is just an annoyance. Barely enough time for a few hits it then *poof*. I also never noticed the main boss really attack at all. The whole fight just felt like dealing with waves of small crabs, never really a fight against a Boss. I would recommended the time the boss is on the surface be longer and that the health of the smaller crabs be increased to compensate (keep that danger of being overwhelmed if you don't clear them). Also add some real attacks to the boss, or if they are there make them more effective. See Graveld's Hideaway.

Keelsplitter's Nest: 3-4 players. Similar to Hatchery, having the boss fly around a little less frequently would be nice, but it is way better comparatively. Otherwise this felt like a good boss fight with a sense of danger from the boss and from the environment around the players.

Welenkin Cove: 4-5 players. While this also didn't feel so much like a fight against a singular Boss, I'm less concerned about it here due to the nature of this boss as one who focuses on mind magic and has minions. The increase in difficulty compared to Hatchery comes from the number and types of adds as well as the Fear-type skill the boss uses creating some actual risk. The CC is real this time. The number of spheres spawning felt a bit high and was just annoying; I would say you could cut the number of spheres in half to just reduce the clutter going on at once. Buffing up the other mobs to make them more like mini-bosses or something would be neat.

Gryphon Run: 2-3 players. This one is a pretty simple fight. If you can avoid the telegraphed attacks, there's not much danger, especially if you split the bosses apart during the phase where you fight them both. Having some adds or something could shake this one up a bit.

Indrik Frolic: 4-5 players. My favorite WB in the chapter. I'm not sure I get the idea of an Indrik being able to summon the Undead? Could make them some sort of animals or creatures maybe, keeping the mix of melee and ranged. The boss has strong and unique attacks, which is good. The teleporting felt less annoying because it happened less frequently than Hatchery, the boss would move forward to fight in melee range again unlike Keelsplitter, and the distance was generally smaller than either.

Graveld's Hideaway: 2-3 players. Same overall mechanic as Queen's Hatchery, but with my recommendations already incorporated. Could buff up the main Boss a bit more.

There is no thread for other quest lines than the main one, so I guess this goes here.

For the Psijic Order questline, more particularly Psijic's Calling (to go close nine time breaches across Summerset).

I understand why you made this quest. It is MMORPG tip of the trade # 101: Make the players all over the place so we can see the whole continent and admire the beautiful work you have done and then we are like "WOOOOOW"... Per se, the quest does not serve any critical purposes storywise, except to introduce time breeches (which will become a passive eventually). So the only real reason is for us to go all over the place.

However, the purpose of the quest is completely defeated.

First, At time breech number 6, 7, 8 and 9, I was tired and fed up. They are hard to reach and require lots of walking. Instead of coming, at a pace, to a new area and saying "oh whats new here", I was like "yeah yeah". This gave me a bitter taste. It even made me thought about never doing sidequests and other quest hubs. And I am not even talking about where the time breaches are situated or bugged, which by itself is a pain.

I would push it further: It even hinders progression. For more casual gamers, they are used to Faction directed quest lines, i.e. you do town A, once ended, it sends you to town B, then from B to C, then from Region A to B, etc.

Now, by going all over Summerset, you ended up with 15 quest hubs and 45 possible sidequests. On top of overwhelming casual gamers and making them lost and confused (where the frack, in all those quest hubs, am I supposed to go?).

If you want to introduce time breaches, make them with a purpose to specific places. Make them visual, interesting. Reduce the number, make them purposeful, with a backstory at each time breach. A bit like the question with the Shrine of Akatoshes in Golden Coast. You have to find the correct one, but there are 4 of them, and at each area you receive a bit more information.

Make them closer, make them interesting, make me wanna discover time breaches and be excited about them. This quest does exactly the opposite.

Did you play through the new tutorial? If so, what did you think overall?

I did. The tutorial was short and the instructions were clear - I liked that. Also, I liked the fact that there were only two separated areas, unlike the original teso tutorial - would save me quite some time if I choose to play through it again with my new characters.
Overall - the area is fresh and looks nice, BUT the blur made my eyes hurt and my head spin. Perhaps the blurred frame should be thinner and not so vibrant.

Was it clear how to get to Summerset?

Not sure what to say here. I created new characters for that server, and they appeared right in the mind trap from the very beginning. Perhaps I missed something.

Were you able to find things to do consistently?

Well, yes and no. The beginning of the Queens Decree was a bit boring to my taste. So at some point I was pushing myself forward hoping to find something more catching and envolving, and i did even in this first location. Then I took my usual approach - I went exploring the unmarked areas of the map. I found some quests that I really look forward to complete, stumbled across an Abyssal Geyser..

Was there any point where it was unclear what you should do next, or where you should be going?

So far so good. But it needs more testing!

Did you find an Abyssal Geyser? If so, what did you think about the experience?

I did. I think the Abyssal Geyser's erm .. "mob flow" is too chaotic, it is pretty hard to navigate what is going on. And the corpses of mobs are misleading - they're staying on the ground for far too long, so you cant tell an alive enemy from a dead one.

Do you have any other general feedback?

The level design of the cities is beautifull, I loved the architecture, the doors, those little bridges and archs, and especially - the square spiral staircase!
    The seashore came out astonishing.

Did you find an Abyssal Geyser? If so, what did you think about the experience?

Yes found them, beat 2 of them with 1 or 2 other players, both of these spawned a sort of spider like end Boss.

Then got to the "Sil'var Woad" geyser asked in chat if anyone want to group, got 4 players all max cp, not to bad until the final boss which was...

Well, lets just say we got our butts stomped. Not sure if the Boss was one the "Yaghra Monstrosity's" or a Named Boss (it was a biggest dang Wamasu I have seen in the game) it had massive AOE. wW all kept getting quickly killed by massive electric damage for example "12x 555,000 + damage" along with a two or three other multiple x damage in the 4 or 5 digits was not uncommon for all of us. It was like OK, Ready, Attack, and bang all of us dead. We all kept trying to kill the thing, and trying to get more players to help. But were unsuccessful at both.

After a while the boss just disappeared. not sure why it disappeared. Maybe some timer on the boss if not killed that it just goes away? Which kind of make sense, but we were actively trying to kill it so why make it go away?

This is going to be great to have open world Boss fights, were the Boss can really fight back!

    I did the Summerset tutorial.

It was pretty and alien-like but the dream effects made me nauseous. The blur kept messing with my eyes. It'd be a lot better if you guys could somehow get rid of that blur effect.

It was easy to go through. I didn't get lost. But at no point did I feel my character was in danger.

Totally agree on the screen blur! It does a number on you if you have that kind of vision. Please do get rid of it, or alter it in such as way that it doesn't muck up parallax and trigger unhappy brain.

As to death in tutorial, I thought I'd play noob and die to see how it worked out. I had to work realllllly hard to die. On purpose.

Despite the huge problem of the map size, so far I really like the atmosphere. I love all the new vocabulary and the way the quests reveal the social strata and culture. Plus, as people have said before, it's all really pretty.

I would also like to say again that the murder mystery quest is great. Any murder mystery quest is good in my book.

Did you find an Abyssal Geyser? If so, what did you think about the experience?

I've had a few goes on Abyssal Geysers now.

The first time I helped clear one I missed the reward clam crate, I just didn't see it. It may have been hidden beneath bodies, and I didn't know to look for it anyway.

I have successfully helped clear geysers with generic bosses. They are fairly easy. The rewards are OK.

The one occasion I encountered a named boss, a giant poisonous Haj Mota, the boss kept resetting to full health despite the fact that characters were alive and in combat against it well within the bounds of the geyser. After half-a-dozen resets I gave up. Very frustrating.

    Sorry for delay.
I'm on iMac. (ie, mouse and keyboard) Must say now (on third session) it's not happening so frequently, about 1-1.5 minutes.
It occurs in all view modes including inventory.
Does not happen at all thankfully, on EU or NA servers.

[*] Did you play through the new tutorial? If so, what did you think overall?
Yes, and overall, it was reasonably good. I agree with those upthread who note that there should be other weapons than a sword available, and that the level 2 reward timing was off because it interrupted our guide's speech.

[*] Was it clear how to get to Summerset?
Yes, as I started a new character.

[*] Were you able to find things to do consistently?
    Yes, plenty to do.

[*] Was there any point where it was unclear what you should do next, or where you should be going?
Not for the time I was playing.

[*] Did you find an Abyssal Geyser? If so, what did you think about the experience?
Yes, but as cowardly low-level scum I stayed well away. Looked good from a distance though.

[*] Do you have any other general feedback?
Yes - the island and buildings are beautiful, tell the art department they done good.

I was shooting with a bow at one of the one-star Yagra mini-bosses, I was on one side of the central pool, it was on the other. The mini-boss was trying to close with me but it lost the path when it reached the central pool and reset. Annoying.

    That was Rellenthil geyser.

I'm a previous beta-tester from the original game and Morrowind. I logged on with an existing character and had no idea how to get started. There was nothing to point me where to begin. I checked out the two new houses, and started the free pre-quest (Psijic order), so I was hoping that will lead me to where I should be.

I started to read this forum for possible clues as to where to start, and I see that maybe I need to create a new character to at least see the new tutorial. After playing thru that I'll go back to my existing character to see if the Psijic quest leads to a proper introduction to the new chapter.

But there should be some clearer instructions for how existing players should begin.

I like the Morrowind tutorial better than Summerset's. It is a larger area with more tasks and items. Lock Picking and Stealth are covered and there are different weapons and armor which the tutorial helps you to find. There is also a better developed story in the Morrowind tutorial.

The visuals, however, are killer. It has a new feel and doesn't seem to be a rehashed zone with a new paint job. Then, coming out to Summerset, there is a familiarity of Auridon, but still a new experience. Exploring the island is fun. The difference in the dark, foreboding atmosphere of Morrowind in the beginning is in contrast to the brightness of Summerset. Though, you soon learn that things are not as bright and shiny as they seem.

In Morrowind, you knew there was a major Daedric threat from the start and the plot unfolds from there. In Summerset, the Daedra are working more through proxies on Nirn in the begining of the main quest. Also, there are hints at indirect connections on some of the side quests which gives the main story more depth.

DirkRavenclaw pretty much sums up my feelings.
