How has leveling Psijiic Skill Line for you been?

I just unlocked the line last night and now started doing the first map quest today to close the time rifts and have to say it's pretty blah.

The activity itself seems boring as it's just go here (roughly b/c the maps are not great so you spend a lot of time wondering around) and click E and go to next spot.

Feels like it will take as long and be as annoying as running around to gather mage guild books, if not more so.

Has anyone gotten more of the skill line done? Do the quests change as you go on and they give yo more interesting stuff?

I have no clue where the second map is even located. Makes no sense to me. I must be missing something very obvious.

Doing the quest is boring but I'm happy it's more involved.

Edit: more involved than just killing mobs that is.

Due to the wayshrines not beeing unlocked on the templates its quite a pain

Maybe reduce the portal ammount fot each map from 9 down to 8 or 7 would be good.
Furthermore the markings on the maps can be quite off when compared to the real locations.

I'm confused about this. I completed the main quest line up to the point where I received the quest, the map, retrieved the skull and now closed my first 2 time breaches succesfully BUT the skill line still does not unlock for me. Perhaps I need to close my first 9 before I finally receive the skillline ?

Sounds like a bit of an obscure way to do it to me. A more logical situation would be for there to be considerably more rifts around Tamriel, and have them all available at all times, but still only need 9 (or less) to actually gain a rank. Then you could just find them as you're exploring, like the MG books, or you could use the maps to target a specific group.

Yeah. But on the PTS you can buy any and all houses for 1 crown each:
    • pick a house near where you need to go
    • Port there to visit
    • hit F5 and buy it for 1 crown
    • Walk out the door into the zone (Note: if you don't buy it, walking out will just port you back to where you were before you visited)

Not ideal and you still need to travel a lot (level up your mount fully with crown store scrolls) but its something.

I hate having to open my inventory to check the map every time I'm like "was it on that side of the road or the other?" Its like doing crafting writs 9 times per level.

The map seriously needs to be quickslottable or something so we can easily check it. Otherwise I will be first in line for an add-on showing rift locations and no I don't care that I'd be missing out on the "discovery" if it lets me miss out on the annoyance of wrangling that stupid map!

The only thing that really bothers me about this is that it seems if you are doing quests that end up saving the life of the head of the order and saves the island from evil forces, it seems that should advance your line more than running around closing time disturbances.

OK, got it up to five this evening. Kill me now.

Congrats on making me not look forward to new content and not look forward to playing when I have to focus on grinding this skill line up. Times that by 15 characters and really... just makes me wanna walk away.

I really hoped you learned from DB and TG - TG had a decent flow of quests feeding you xp into the skill line, as well as doing the little steal gold level artifacts from all over giving you points. DB was horrible with needing to just grind up "go kill this guy" fifty times between each quest so you could get the next one at the next level and the assassinate people all over not giving you xp in the line. I thought surely they've seen the better method. I thought wrong.

So many parts about this game are becoming a grind it's getting pretty boring. Collect pieces of stuff to get the actual stuff. Go run to random places an hit X fifty times to get a level in something. Harvest ten dust and refine them to make one thing and maybe get a dust, so you can get ten of those dust to make another thing that you'll need multiple of to upgrade something. Even crown stuff is being broken up into pieces. Soon we won't get a mount from a crate, we'll get a horse leg, or head or saddle and if you get all the pieces you'll get the mount.

It would be nice if the maps had more landmarks. When you have a single map covering the whole Illiac Bay, the margin of error from where the map puts the x and the actual location is huge sometimes.

Oh PC getting another add-on crutch?! Yes!

Us console players will just have to settle for being significantly better players. Enjoy your doodads and little gizmos, though. I’ll be over here playing a video game.

No option of even including a console beta, as if that communitiy is meaningless. But yet, every record held on PC is matched, and subsequently beaten, WITHOUT ADD ONS.

PC is breaking this game, slowly and surely. Every new game device, like this. ZOS knows very well someone with way too much time on their hands will make an add-on for it. So they can come up with poor, cumbersome elements to the game, and you guys stick your nerdy bandaids overs it marking their boo boo go away. And naturally, the whole community suffers.

Class act, guys. Please, go enjoy your handicapable Tamriel.

In an effort to be more useful, let me add that I did enjoy finding skyshard from the achievement clues and doing treasure maps when I first started the game. Back then the zones had exploration value. Summerset still does of course. But many of us have been in these main zones a zillion times now and wandering them with vague directions just to click something is not fun. I only got to rank 2 before logging off in frustration and its hard to imagine wanting to do this on several characters unless the line ends up overpowered.

Please find a way to make it more interesting.

As a side note, I have yet to see the rifts that might drop infused jewelry after I got the line. Maybe I am missing something.

Kinda hope they include quest markers to Navigators. (Ships), so new players can learn about how to use the boating system. (and also alleviate the frustration of having literally zero wayshrines unlocked).

It would have to be personalized to these rift quests specifically though.

It'd also be nice if the radius for the compass quest indicator icon on the portals had a little longer range.

I am most certainly not going to be doing this for all the characters I have, rather only on the characters that I play the most. There is a significant grind, but in all honesty, the presentation is nice, and compared to the Undaunted, it can at least be done on your own terms (rather than having to wait for a daily reset).

The maps are badly drawn, it wasn't until @ kip_silverwolf commented that I realized I should be looking in Alik'r for the last 3 X's. The quest grind might be ok the first time through since you're playing the story, but after that I'll wait for the add-on to run my other characters through. The Psijiic Skill Line should have worked more like the Mages guild line. You do some quests and close some random time rifts to level it up.

I don't even think it's good for the first time b/c there is nothing of interest. You are literally going to places you've been a hundred times in the middle of random spots of old zones just to click E (or X or whatever you have set up) and then go to the next spot and click and again and again.

At one point I thought things were going to get mixed up a bit when they told me to get pieces of a staff - I was like, ok, this will be delves or something, but no, just a different way of doing same thing - go to spot, click button, follow prompts to next spot to click button.

At least each quest seems to level up a level (at least so far up for 5 or 6 or whatever I'm at) b/c if you would have had to do a million of these just to level it would be even worse.

I feel like I'm playing Runescapes' One small favor quest all over again.

I was kind of expecting/hoping they would go the TG route:

Have someone give you something like these portals (since we heard about the portals in advance I expected something about them to be here) - only I thought the portals would be something like some monster is escaping and you have to kill it to close the portal/breech.

Then there would be a different NPC with a different questline giving you something else to do along the lines of the guild, like recovering something like artifacts. (As a proper quest line, not the version they have sprinkled in there now where its the same, go click this button at this spot thing)

Then yet another person maybe having you hunt down some little Bedlam Cult side questline thing.

So, sure, you might have a repeatable that is a little boring like the portal thing, but then it would be broken up by these other quests that also contribute to leveling the skill line.

The best thing about the TG was that you had the main TG quest, the wood elf girl's sidequest, the argonian's side quest and stealing all the gold level artifacts to all level the skill line and break up the monotony if you wanted something different than whatever you were already doing.

The worst thing about other guild lines like Mage and Dark Brotherhood was the grind. Having to find a million books we already have seen is maddening or like DB where you couldn't do a main quest piece until you were the next level so you had to run back and forth to that book a dozen times after doing a quest to send you out to kill someone and back and forth, etc. just to get the ability to do the next quest. Psijiic skill line is going to go down into that category with the design it currently has.

Probably will be addon. No doubt. However it's not as grindy to level when u get hang of it. Just equip some speed boost farming gear (e.g. Fiord's, jail breaker) in divines and crab steed mundus. At the time rift site the best strategy is to activate the quest from quest log and just ride around with the horse while keeping eye on the radar for the white active quest marker to pop up.
