Your first mistake was not using the dungeon finder tool, even if you have a 4-man premade group it still works and you'll get some bonus spell damage, even if you're over level 50.
Also if you use the finder tool the leader can't kick players but only choose to initiate a vote-kick.

@Boggus No, you do not get extra spell damage. Your character sheet and tooltips are lying to you.

That said, queuing a pre-formed PUG does add insurance of unwarranted kicks.

He invited his people before kicking the last member, which was me.

At that point then, it means you voted yes to kick the first member.
1 member drops, you have 3.
In order to get rid of you or the other player, 2 of the remaining players have to vote out the 3rd player. If you were the last one voted out, you did this to yourself.

    One drops
    Leader invites his friend
2 votes to kick the first
2 votes to kick the second

It doesn't need to be unanimous.

@klowdy1 It needs to be a majority. Which means with 4 people online, you need 3/4 votes, and with 3 people, you need 2/3 votes. The only time 2 votes work is if there are only 3 people online in the group. So, yes, it does need to be unanimous.

ZOS could fix this issue easily.

    1) Make it so every kick is a group vote or nothing, and not give one person the power to kick everybody by himself.
    2) Make it so you have to kill multiple bosses in a dungeon before you can get that helm.

The fact ZOS hasn't done anything about it yet means they either don't know about the issue, don't care, or don't want to be bothered. In case they just don't know about it, people should post these threads all the dang time until they finally notice.

@SydneyGrey The only way crown can kick people is if it's a regular pre-formed group. A Group Finder group or a pre-formed group that queued to get in will need unanimous votes to remove anyone.

Also, requiring all bosses for the helm is a bad idea. What if someone queuing for a dungeon gets in a group that's midway through the dungeon? What if someone needs to change to a different character? Etc. There have already been a lot of complaints about people who don't get pledge completion because they enter an in-progress dungeon. And it's why the pledges for the two new dungeons only require the final boss. The outcry from this would be great, and frankly, this sounds like a case of killing a fly with a sledgehammer. It's a draconian measure that does far more harm than good and punishes legitimate players in a misguided attempt to address what is a rare edge case issue.

Finally, what exactly is ZOS supposed to do? People in this thread criticize ZOS for not doing anything, but there is nothing for them to do! Are they supposed to have people monitoring and babysitting every dungeon group? If they took away kick/invite powers from the lead, it would make pre-formed grouping much harder to manage--there is a reason I hate queuing for pre-formed groups, because it's a hassle to do things like resetting instances, having players change characters, etc. Pre-formed groups need the flexibility of a lead with unilateral powers. But such powers don't exist for Group Finder groups. So, really, this is just a problem for PUGs that are formed from zone chat instead of from Group Finder. But as others have pointed out, it's easy to convert such a group to a Group Finder group. So what more is ZOS supposed to do, hmm? They've already done everything they should do.

The system is fine. The thread's OP simply had the misfortune of coming across an *** without the having first activated the safeguards designed for PUGs.

Do not run premade groups, use finder. Leader can not kick you from finder group by himself.

I don't pug dungeons anymore. EU community is almost as bad as f2p MOBA games.

Yes, after tanking in MMOs longer than 10 years, this is the game that made me quit playing tanks.

All you can do in your case is blocking that guy, and making sure you have a non pug group. thats it.

I've seen and heard of more spiteful behaviour in this game than any other mmo I've played to date, to the point when people say how great the ESO community is, I scratch my head. Yes, there are some nice, awesome people, but the bum-holes can leave a nasty residue. The number one thing that will turn me off a game is the community, so I agree that ZoS needs to look at combating things such as these.

Then you haven't collected a good set of horror stories from other games yet.

I still remember an MMO I used to play, where one guild was infamous for getting carries through the final boss, then kicking their non-members from the group before looting the final boss, inviting their own, and need/greeding the Upgrade material (yes, singular) that dropped among their own members.

ZOS should simply add more options: not everyone is interested in joining an half done dungeon. Similarly, not everyone is insterested in dungeons where people queued up as everything or where people just wanna run ahead pulling half Tamriel in the process.

After N deaths a group should be automatically disbanded. At least in veteran. Go back to normal and learn the mechs.

That's how trials used to work. You had a soul reservoir, and once you ran out, you can no longer revive.

It was a ridiculous system, and good *** riddance that it's gone. You know, part of the learning process for vet content is wiping on said content. "We need to practice this boss, but we can only get three attempts in before we have to restart the entire instance!" It is baffling to me how anyone can have the cognitive dissonance to advocate such a thing in the same sentence as telling people to learn the content.

So, if I understand this... someone left... then you voted to kick him. Then you replaced it with one of the leader's friends. Then, the leader (assuming it was the leader) initiated a vote to kick the other person and you agreed... then replaced that person with one of his friends and then they voted to kick you.

So, basically... you were complacent in him kicking others and now whine when he kicks you. Interesting. Reminds me of something...

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

ESO needs an added game mechanic.

The Ignore List currently works on only Social contacts, it needs to be expanded with two tick boxes. One for the Social Contact and the other for Group Finder to prevent the pairing you with them. This gives you the choice just to do one or both action.

    or

They need to add a blacklist for the Group Finder to prevent you for being paired with someone on your Blacklist.

Players that have continue with this type of behavior will have a increasing small circle of new victims. The hope would be that they learn to change their ways. In many other MMO's your player reputation is important, ESO has gone out of their way to protect those with bad behavior so they have little to now consequence to their actions.

While they are making one of the above additions, they also need to add a Blacklist to Guilds. A proactive tool is needed for Guilds to prevent Toxic players from rejoining.

To stop any arguments that they can just change their account name to get around this. Not True. The friends lists and Guild memberships update with the new account name so the same would be true of any Blacklist function within ESO. This is whay having it as a base function of ESO is important and not relying on a Addon to provide.

It has to be every player but the one being kicked. OP says they were the last 1 kicked from the group. Meaning they had to vote to kick the person that was kicked before them.

It'd be one thing if it was a completely horrible run and everyone was an ***, but it was such a great group. Everyone was friendly, we had a few screw ups that we laughed off, and moved on from.
And I mean we have have a.... "special" kind of community, it can be elitist, and *** sometimes, but it's pretty great in general, so to have something like this happen, something that has been completely unheard of in my 3 years of eso is really *** disheartening.

    2 hours = great? Lol?

Best tip, stop using "group finder" and running the "eso solo meta". Get a good guild, form your group from there.... Get dungeon done, problem solved

Bad tip. Not everybody is into guilds. Why should guildless ppl be locked out from that content? Because you think so?
