I liked having a wife and kids in Skyrim, as basic as those relationships were. Can't see any negatives in having something similar in ESO, as an option for players who like to RP.

For the brief amounts of time I could play Fable, I tried that whole romance thing, and it was more effort than it was worth. In Fallout 4 and to an Extent, New Vegas, we had companions that would like or not like you based on actions taken in the game. It was not always "to my role" to keep them happy either. But at least we could reload a save if I messed something up.

If this was in the game, I don't think I would ever use it myself.

Now, if we could meet an NPC, set up some kind of relationship that did not need to maintained, and we could send them to our house that would be cool.

I always find romance in games cringy. I get why it's there in an RPG, but the writing is always so bad.

There are those in Tamriel so beyond help, that they can't even pull a Khajiit tail on a trip to Riften... Remember lads, what happens in Riften stays in Riften. Maybe it will cost you a few gold, but hey, everyone has to start somewhere.

To be fair, Riften was well on its way to becoming the Goldshire of ESO

I'd love to see it, doubt it would happen. We have 12 yr olds that play this game. They don't even want The Lusty Argonian Maid excerpts on the forums. When they said the game was mature, they should have kept it that way and made the parents account for their children playing it. And if I had to pick someone, it would be that rogue Jakarn. Ah yes, Steve Blum. Love that man, love that voice.

And The Lusty Argonian Maid ain't got nothin' on The Real Barenziah. Actually, I think The Real Barenziah is far more x-rated. At any rate, Elder Scrolls has always had a mature element and ESO brands the game mature. They should stick with that. Parents need to account for their kids but honestly a 12 year old with computer access and who has started to hit puberty has probably seen far worse than anything Elder Scrolls can throw at him or her.

Oh gods, The Real Barenziah is a doozy. It far surpasses Lusty Argonian Maid. I mean, Dunmer are known for being promiscuous, so it's not like what happened surprised anyone there, but it definitely shocks the reader.

Romances in real life are usually cringey and awkward too. But at least in ESO friendships aren't risked or ruined when the cringe hits.

You have other PCs you can marry since this is a multiplayer game. Skyrim was single player so they had to be NPCs by definition.

Romancing a player on an internet game is creepy and usually leads to sadness, hostility or a thread on the forum claiming sexual harassment. Romancing an NPC is just like Safe&Sound Fireworks. All the bang with none of the dismemberment.

I'm ok on people wanting this but would also want the option to end it. Naryus dialogue reminds me of a that creepy person you just can't get rid of and does not get the hint - I'd like to end her dialogue Permanently and kill the creepy little elf . Although I get a lot of people like her, as long as there are other options to "just friend" too.
If it's all or nothing I choose the later though.

    Meh, not into this.

Played SWTOR and Fallout 4. I'm a bit of a completionist so I found myself compelled to always pursue the maximum relationship level with all NPCs/companions just because it felt like "winning." Then all of a sudden my focus wasn't about going out and conquering but what gifts I can get these NPCS and what choices I can make to have them like me. Made the games less fun to me, actually. I have enough problems balancing difficult personalities IRL. Let me choose my quest choices without anyone's disapproval, please! And having to remember which alt decided to romance or spurn each romanceable option... no thanks.

Been playing ESO since beta and have enjoyed not having that fake kind of drama in my game. :P If it gets added to ESO, you can bet there will be achievements and an impact on the world and therefore I don't think it's a "if others want it, it won't affect you type of thing."
My #1 wish for ESO Today: Decouple achievements from character progress and tracking.

Considering how long the game has been out on PC, SOMEONE, somewhere has hacked in some nude models for their game client. That's pretty much one of the first things Modders do for a game, even if ESO isn't very Mod friendly. But people always find a way.

Concerning the RPG part of MMORPG, what if the Writers provided a selection of Romanceable NPCs with new lines of Dialogue and even questlines that progress the relationship. A new game mechanic that allows the vestige to bond with an NPC, complete a personal story questline, and unlock special options such as making them a version of the Brotherhood Bequeather, or a special "Assistant" you can place in your house.

We already have lines of dialogue where the Vestige flirts, heavily, with Naryu. Thats a start.

I thought it was the other way around - Naryu flirting, heavily, with the Vestige?

...are neat in solo games, but in MMOs, its much, much more fun to RP a "romance" with another player if you like that sort of thing. Or that sort of character, if you meet a cute one! ;)

Consider it, how the RP would develop if everyone started fighting about whose "waifu" (is there a male equivalent for it?) this or that NPC was...

If anything, NPCs should be "encounters" if it fits the story... from a casual fling to a paid service (with the chance of catching a certain itch while relieving a different kind), but since the gaming industry is generally afraid of bad press if they get to close to anything reeking of too much naughtyness... well...

I used the almighty console commands to marry Ralof. He was the life of my life in Skyrim. I once married some other guy and then, after seeing Ralof fighting by my side, I realised that I had made a huge mistake.

Ontopic, I think having NPC romance option in the game would be great for those who would not want to risk having a in-game relationship with some creep. Also, I know from experience that player-with-player relationship can go so wrong... And being in a healthy relationship myself, why on earth would I want to flirt with some other human being?
