    You're a hybrid; that's one thing you're doing wrong.

Health recovery is not a good stat to stack into. There's no way to get a high enough amount of health recovery to make a difference without screwing your build in other, more important ways.

Warrior Poet is not a great set for PVP, and it certainly won't help with the two problems you mentioned (dealing damage to others and mitigating damage you take).

Try respeccing to either full stam or full mag, equip some of the more commonly recommended sets, and try playing something closer to the "meta". That will put you in a position to survive long enough to get meaningful practice in, which will eventually give you the mechanical knowledge you need to branch out and do your own thing.

I still should be doing more than 100 damage as a hybrid unless hybrids are just unusable

They are just unusable, with a very few exceptions in the hands of very skilled, experienced players (and even then they don't perform as well as non-hybrids).

Why are hybrids so punished? I have 38k health and with health buff to 43k, so I have alot if health but it would be nice to do more than 100 damage, although it's fun watching people try to kill me

Hybrids used to be a thing a long time ago. But then ZoS decided to base your damage on your magicka/stamina, forcing you to focus on one or the other.

lol you don't get to be a high-damage build if you have 43k health. That would not be balanced.

Part of this is just being new to PVP. My MagDK and hit like wet noodles when I started out too. My stam warden hit like wet noodles before I got her in her PVP build.

First off, in PVP you really need impenetrable trait gear to keep yourself from being critically hit as badly. I usually have 2-3K crit resist, I don't recall the exact number.

You'll probably want to invest more in health than in health recovery, unless you are running certain battleground troll health regen builds. Even then, with a heavy investment in health recovery, you really need to use certain tactics like using line of sight around obstacles and putting distance between yourself and your attacker so that your health recovery has time to take effect. If you want to stand and fight, you'll need more health/tankiness.

Self-healing. Proactive healing is the best kind of healing. Thanks to battle spirit, your heals are cut to half-strength (so is all your damage, but also all the damage you take is cut in half) so holding onto that burst heal when you are already at low health is a bad idea when there are execute skills around. I suggest using heals over time before you are at low health so you try to stay out of the 30-50% health range.

You probably won't be killing players right away. If you want to get kills as a new PVPer, I recommend joining up with a group and fighting players with them. If you really want to be good at 1v1, I recommend that you get good dueling partners who can help you practice with your build against a lot of different classes. Cyrodiil combat tends to be different from dueling builds, but you'll learn a lot of the counters to common skills and the reflexes needed for 1v1 Cyrodiil fighting from dueling.

Here's some tips. Try to evaluate what's going wrong and see if there's anything here that can help you address some issues. If there's something you are feeling is lacking in your build that I don't cover, let me know! I'm just throwing out some common concersn I see.

Are you dying too quickly? Check for Impen gear for crit resist, check your physical and spell resistances, check your health. That'll cover being too squishy. Then use active defenses like: roll dodging, moving out of ground-based effects, breaking free from CCs, line of sight around obstacles to buy breathing space, and use proactive heals. Active defenses are the hardest part to learn and takes practice. In the meantime, safety in the numbers of a group can help.

Are you running out of resources? You're a hybrid, so my normal advice is a little different. Figure out what skills/needs are most important and prioritize resources accordingly. Think about the skills you use most effectively. If you love to use a bow or weapon skills, you may need more stamina to also be able to run and roll dodge. If magicka skills are effective, you might need to have more magicka to power both skills and heals.

Are you doing no damage? Here's where the dueling comes in. In a group situation in PVP, you should be able to get kills by throwing skills at players, you might not kill them, but you'll assist. In my raid, I'll hit people with poison injection and maybe I kill them or my teammates does, but the enemy is still dead. However, in 1v1, killing people is about burst damage and keeping up the pressure. Unlike PVE where sustained, constant DPS wears down million+ health bosses, in PVP you want high amounts of burst damage that are harder to mitigate and also some sustained damage to keep up the pressure on any opponent tanky enough to survive the burst. That's why you'll see people try to combo skills (dizzying swing into jabs, for example) or use gear sets with burst damage from procs. You'll also see people use DOTs like bleed damage, poisons, and Valkyn Skoria procs to keep up the pressure on opponents until they can try to burst combo them down again.

What practicing dueling will do is give you a chance to practice burst damage and keeping up the pressure while also learning to counter common enemy tactics.

If I were going to play a high health stam sorc, I'd play that very focused on objectives. That would be a good tank for group play for holding or taking keep or resource flags and holding them. It wouldn't do amazing damage, but I'd be using my AOEs to control the spot where I'm fighting and have a negate to deal with large enemy groups. Used properly in a raid setting, I can see a high health stam sorc tank being very effective at controlling chokepoints on the battlefield.

That's how I would use it, anyways. I'm not sure how well it'd go in 1v1 combat though.

If you want to do a controller build, it'll be best in those chokepoints like keep and outpost flags with a group to back you up. You'd essentially be playing like a PVE tank, locking the enemy down and letting the DPS of your other faction players beat them down.

I'd probably go with Endless Hail on the flag, Hurricane/Boundless Storm, Steel Tornado if you use DW/Brawler for 2H, Encase for a CC, Possibly Daedric Mines/liquid lightning/Volcanic Rune (MG), possible Trapping Web/Bone Shield from Undaunted, and basically aim to stack as many AOEs on the flag where I'm standing as possible. Those are all ideas and you can find what works for you. You'd be more of a support player, but helping to make the kills possible. However, this really only works well in chokepoints. In open field, enemies can move away from you and fight from greater range.

That being said, if you want a stam sorc build that can do well in other forms of PVP, there are plenty of good builds. https://alcasthq.com/eso-stamina-sorcerer-build-pvp1/ You just have to stack mostly into stamina to use them. (If this is your Redgaurd, I highly recommend going stam over magicka)

However, if you just want a build that's good for learning, what I'd really recommend in a bow Stam Sorc with whatever other weapon you want. (2handed rally is nice, 1h and shield or DW will let you run another 5 piece). Find a group that seems to know what they are doing and follow them around or just zerg, learning how to tell how the battle ebbs and flows. Sticking to the back of the pack and sniping enemies is not a bad way to learn how combat works. That's pretty much how I learned to PVP in the very beginning.

Crit is nearly worthless in PvP as everyone runs in Pennsylvania, and all your damage afainst other players will be halved, add this to the fact that a 7k critical is pretty low your not going to any sizable amount of damage. People have higher resistance which will cut into your damage delt, and players blocking is also going to push your damage way down. If your looking to increase damage get a good set on (health regen isn't that useful) and go all into either stam or mag.

I wish people would stop spreading this misinformation. Full Impen armor + a normal spread of points into Resistant only mitigates around 40-45% of crit damage. It's easy to get 60-75% crit damage on most builds, even without Minor Force. This means your critical hits will still be doing ~25% more damage to opponents than non-crits. That's a free Major Berserk on 40-50% of your hits. Far from worthless.

And I for one have never been to Pennsylvania.
