Yea, a lot of companies take the better people from industry by allowing work from home or at least part time remote opportunities.
It really opens up your ability to find good people at good rates by doing so.

Thanks for that tag man, means a lot. If it wasn't cause of my current IRL situation I would actually apply. I would love it, but sadly not in a good position to do so atm. If they ever do this again I probably will.

Meh i don't like trials. Those trashmobs make my toes curl everytime they come. It's such a tedious and boring and no fun job to kill them all the time until the fun begins with the bosses.

I hope the new tester will make it more fun.

Not really my area of expertise but i know an outstanding client/server architect who has many years of experience designing and building high volume, low latency client/server applications, including quite a few years spent in the gaming industry.

I have checked the server side engineers position.

If I might give some suggestions to make it more attractive:

- Require demonstrable experience, not a bachelor. There are plenty of countries where bachelors are not equivalent nor valid in the USA (and vice-versa). Furthermore, we elders and truly experienced learned the job before bachelors even existed. I am in software develpoment since 1983 and in IT since 1991. Back at the time bachelors on that didn't even exist.

- In my opinion, "3 – 5 years of previous UNIX/Linux system administration experience" is not that much to qualify as "senior", especially for 24/7 operations. My brother is a gardener yet would fit in this description!

- "Ability to install Linux and perform basic administrative tasks" sounds weird on a Senior position advertisment.

Holy cow, awesome! Oh, you gotta move. Hmm well, Maryland has highest median income in the country, uses GPI instead of GDP, lowest unemployment rate in the country, one of the prettiest places in the US... but that snow...

If that were true, wouldn't anyone with an engineering degree find work elsewhere? Because... they could, easily(at or above your mentioned rate of pay). I also remember my softE prof mentioning that QA was one of the higher paying areas. Granted, I've never looked into it myself, and who knows how dated his knowledge of the topic was, but writing tests isn't the easiest thing to do. Not to mention that working at Best Buy would be terrible; it's silly to think this isn't a great opportunity for someone.
