Examples of kindness

I will be the first to attest that there are many people that play who are disrespectful, rude or just plain acerbic, BUT....the average person I see is not.
In any guilds I am in, people have always been helpful. Generally, if a question or advice is sought in zone chat people help. These people aren't friends of whoever is asking, they're just generally nice people.
Yesterday I had a problem and numerous people stepped up and tried to help me, and not one had I ever talked to before.
In these forums I see many posts about somebody being upset about somebody or trolling. I would like to start this post and have people talk about how and give examples of when somebody helped them just because there are kind people. I think there are more acts of kindness then aggression, even though aggression is what we mostly notice.
Yesterday's example was i was seeking a certain hard to find item, and numerous people in game, in zones, and here in the forums helped. Thank you all.
If any Community Managers know of stories they've seen ir heard, please feel free to post those here also.

I once had a guild spam my mail with potatoes because I kept killing them.

...free mats is nice I guess.

Thank you OP for posting this. You are right there are far more "nice" people that play this game, but the squeaky or in this case just plain cranky wheels tend to get noticed more.

Thank you again for bringing in some positive energy.

    Yep unfortunately.

This is due to the age old proverb; The minority are the loud ones, The majority of the quiet ones.

Not always the case of course but in this instance id say its correct.

I do the same for vamp bites. Nobody should have to pay for a bite when several can offer it for free.

Also, remember when the Daedric thrones were sold and everyone had hundreds? Gods people, for weeks, were trying to sell those in the starter islands. Lol, everytime I saw it I'd be like "didn't those used to be free?"

I had an act of kindness bestowed upon me last night. Created a new character and wanted a vamp bite. Went to the shrine and asked politely if anyone had one to give, mentioning I was at the shrine already. First person asks me for 10k gold. I can afford that but I give them for free on my max characters and was hoping to find someone else doing that as well. Next person is mid-level CP and comes to the shrine and wants me to duel them for a bite. I was only level 4 with no allocated CP at that point sporting generic white armor/weapon from the starter quest. I guess they get their rocks off destroying "newb" characters, or maybe that's the only way they can get their duel win count up. Luckily some friendly soul noticed this in zone chat and swung by and gave me a bite, right in front of the person trying to get me to duel for it. Thank you again, kind stranger.

I'm one of the nice ones. I give away my extra recipes. If you've been in Grahtwood on Saturdays, you've probably noticed Riana the Bosmer giving away provisioning and furniture recipes. *raises her hand* I don't sell my extras. I'd rather help someone else out.

Agreed. More instances of niceness than jerkiness. I notice it routinely while farming for mats. My char will always try to yield mat nodes to another who is obviously always going for the same node at about the same time. . . and I notice many others who do the same.

As a young struggling char in my first public dungeon, a top level magplar asked my char to group so they could help, then kindly escorted my elf through the dungeon, making sure she got the bosses and skyshard, letting her fight what she could, healing her when she needed it and decisively exploding what she could not handle. That one incident had a big impact on my character and it is no coincidence that she is now a top level magplar who goes out of her way to help others she sees struggling.

Kindness attracts kindness . It's impossible for me to list all the kindness this on has recieved and given . We had an event in January to pay it forward where everyone showed up and gave away crafting mats for free . Not just mats but any item . So many people walking up and being charitable . I was happy to participate and give some things back . Helping friends complete dungeons and trials . My great friend Jadan bought me clock work city this month . He has crafted so many sets for free and such a good friend . Not just because he is generous but also so positive all the time and uplifting . Same with friends in Lone Wolf Help guild . So many friends for forums sending gifts . Sometimes we just send each other a drink with a message of cheer . It does not matter how big or small . It all feels good !

Kindness attracts contempt. The week are to be used , and then discarded when they have no more to offer.

Oooops, that was my inner Sith leaking out; My Bad!

Seriously though, I have met many kind individuals in this game; both in my guilds and just random strangers while I was out adventuring. I would like to think I have reciprocated that kindness to others by offering help as I am able.

    Happy adventuring, all.

I try to be as kind as possible - "The Golden Rule". I offer vamp and WW bites for free as soon as they are ready and mentor new players.

I call out zone chat scammers who try to sell ordinary stuff at outrageous prices to new players who don't know the market. Linking Master Merchant prices always sets these guys off. I've definitely gotten some hate messages, but it's worth it. B)

Being kind is free, and you get so much in return. o:)

With the forum thread about gift giving around xmas where we were encouraged to ask for things. I asked for furniture for my house. I had hoped to get one or two items. In the end I had 20, from 8 different people. That was awesome.

I also wanted to put in guildchat if someone had a certain crafting item (the wood furniture one), I was missing one for my item to finish my dinnertable chair set. Accidentally used say in Mournhold instead of /g1. I immediately said sorry wrong chat in say. I didn't want to come across as beggary "shouting" out for hand outs in say. But a nice player looked me up, actually found me in game and initiated trade. Gave me 20 of those things. Was awesome. So thanks kind argonian my library shelves were build in your honor ^^

I try to be helpful and nice back where I can as well.

I once answered a call on zone chat for people for a Group Boss. After we killed it, I noticed the guy who was asking for help didn't have a horse so I sent him 10k gold and told him to get a ride. I then went back to the wayshrine to go back to Daggerfall. Saw that guy two minutes later at the Stables in the city buying his horse. :)

I later zoned to Stormhaven, which is when I got a "Thank You" mail. I hope that guy has gotten far.

Had an instance when I was farming in hews bane and came across someone frantically trying to make room in their inventory in front of a runestone node. Sat there and guarded the node for them for a few minutes so they could get it. A few minutes later I get a mail with a thank you and a kuta attached. Just wanted to say @hopecloverlove you rock!

I used to do this alot when i spent a lot of time around the starting / low level zones. Its pretty sad watching new players running across the map, especially when you run into the occasional lowbie in cyrodiil without a mount. Adding a mount to the new level system is going to be great for new players i bet.

nothing that's a scam about it. they literally charge real money for it, and players can only use it once per week; so how is it out of line to ask for money? Frankly I don't actually ask for money but I've only ever bittenpeople 1 or 2 times and nto been compensated.

During the Halloween event there was someone wanting to trade for the motif pieces they still needed in zone chat. They wanted to meet up and trade but I told them not to worry about it and just mailed them the pieces they needed saying they could just send me whatever back since I already had all the pieces and I wasn't really worried if they just took them because they weren't worth that much anyway. They sent me back the Potent Witchmother's brew recipe which I actually didn't have yet and it was worth like 10k at the time which I thought was really sweet of them.

Who charges real money for it?

The "in the wild" werewolf spawns and bloodspawns charge you before attempting to kill and eat you? "They" don't charge for it.

Back in the beginning, some "really wonderful" /sarcasm players would form groups and kill all the spawns so no one could get bitten "in the wild". Then these "really wonderful" players would charge for bites, up to 50k [not a small amount in early days of the game]. Some really special ones not only charged other players for a bite, they scammed them out of the gold and didn't bite them. After a lot of complaints on the forum about players griefing/blocking content from others the bites showed up in the crown store, as a kind of "last resort" for players who couldn't get past the "really wonderful" extortionists.

I have 14 characters; 12 are maxed ww, two are working on it. I always give bites for free, for however many players want one. The chance to get bitten is FREE in the game, and only ended up in the crown store due to the "really wonderful" players who tried to block content intended to be free in the game. I will accept tips for crafting work, but not for giving out bites.

Back when I first started doing dungeons, I was still new and learning. ESO is my first MMO and I'd heard horror stories about pugs as well as just generally being worried about my competency. Don't think I was even high enough to do pledges yet at that point. One of the other people in the pug group sent me a whisper asking about my gear/crafting. I thought I was about to get kicked. But they were nice and we finished without issue. I figured I passed the test and shrugged it off.

Afterwards, this kind person mailed me purple Julianos gear they'd crafted for me in training, some extra white cp160 gear to deconstruct to level up crafting skills, and purple quality consumables. Didn't ask anything in return, wished me luck and fun, and then was gone. Won't ever forget that stranger's niceness and the impact it had on my views of playing with other people. I try to pay it forward when I can.

50k? Psh. It was double that on console back in the day.

I personally just hang out at a shrine and give them to the first player who asks (unless a guildie needs it).

I like the person that has been around forever offering free recipes to Orc chefs.

For a long time when someone was looking to buy something and I had it I would send it to them and tell them to pay me whatever they wanted. Only got burned doing that one time.

Now from time to time when I see someone taking the time to answer questions in zone chat I'll send them 5k-10k gold letting them know it was because they took the time to help someone. Can't do it every time though because almost always someone steps up and answers. The first answer is usually either a flat out troll response or "google it" but the good players soon take over and help.

The craft bags allow me (and others I am sure) to send all kinds of stuff to newer players when they ask for help.

And sometimes when nothing is going on in any of my guilds I like to start in one zone and try and help one person then move on to the next zone. I've never made it through all the zones in one go but still fun to try.

And for as much grief and hate they get in zone chat I appreciate the players that take the time to say something when an item is being offered at an incredibly high price in chat.
