Templars are plain dead.

    The thing that bothers me about Templars at the moment is how poorly they synergize in 4 player group content.

    After having recently grinded both my Magplar and Stamplar to Undaunted 9 via random vet dungeons and pledges I can say I have experienced some frustrations currently unique to the class. From bugged scaling, to crucial class skills overwriting, cancelling, or bugging each other out, to the awful group synergy of a key class skill in Repentance... I agree, I hope Templars have ALL these things addressed soon - not just the scaling.

    Repentance for me was a huge one. It's unreal how many Templar tanks and healers run this skill, as well as other DD's. I felt like on my Stamplar after the first trash pack if the healer or tank saw me repent all the corpses, all of a sudden now it's a race to spam a button after every single trash mob kill for the rest of the dungeon. I had one greedy healer that would spam repent as I killed mobs, like literally as soon as any enemy dropped they were hitting that repent before the corpse even hit the floor. Like okay, guess it's heavy attacks for me to sustain during this run because I'm not about to make it a competition (and it shouldn't even be one to begin with).

    No other class has to compete with itself so hard over a sustain skill. When I'm running on my Stamplar, I shouldn't hate seeing other Templars in my group - fearing that we will fight over enemies to repent, or that they will overwrite my Power of the Light with their own Power of the Light / Purifying Light and plummet my DPS.

    Templars need better small group synergy with each other.

    @eserras7b16_ESO This! The scaling for stuff like jabs & Jesus beam was broken a while ago, so the two main dps skills took a hit, but they are being fixed in Dragon Bones... Patch notes should be out tomorrow so keep an eye out

    Is this true @ZOS_Wrobel ?? Are we finally going to get to see this fixed?!?

    Yes, this is a problem, but until they address it, here's the way to handle it: Healer always, always takes priority. I run dps (including a magplar)) and I have to live with that fact that with syn, healers' and tanks' systain always take priority and that I need to work sustain into my rotation in ways that work around that. If a temp healer is using a syn you normally use, switch it out or don't use it. Your role as dps is suppose to be the most fluid and adaptable of all the roles, to fit what what a group needs or doesn't need. You have to be prepared for that and don't compete with your healer.

    I also run temp healers and this is a pet peeve of mine, especially with Retribution, which in the morph I use on 2 of my 3 healers because they also do pvp. It's like half the time with temp dps, it's me running in and laying it down right after some dps temp did just to make the point I explained above, and it's amazing how many don't get it because, ime, of all the dps, players running temp dps are the least flexible and that's a player-side problem. Learn what other skills you can use outside of class skills, deal with the fact that you may not always get to run your fav skills, and be ready to adapt.

    STamplar should always have priority over healer to use repentance. Healing value is more or less the same but the Stamplar can make great use of the stamina for really good aoe-DPS, bc they are more or less the only class who can spam steeltornado 24/7 IF they can use repentance. IF you have a templar tank, they should usually be able to sustain without repentance (but if their is no stamplar they cxan use repentance).
    The whole group benefits from the increased AoE-DPS...
    Tanking and especially healing is possible without repentance, that kind of AoE not.

    stamplar is in a strong spot.
    magplar has scaling issues which will be solved, and that scares me a lot.

    I may add....stamplar is only strong bc it's a stamina build. In the end it suffers from the same bugs magplars do, but are still excepted bc Stamina-DPS is just so much higher than magicka DPS and the increase overall DPS with their normal rotation.

    PvP-wise i guess templars are fine...it's just those bugs which kills magplar-DPS in PvE.

    I honestly wouldn't care less about PvE.
    Everything is good in PvE if you're not a leaderboard tryharder.

    for PvP, stamplars are sitting in a lot better spot than previous patches, and next patch they might even be better.
    I'm even considering to make one myself.

    For magplars, Im just sick and tired of seeing healbots healing 40k hp Dks.
    I just don't want to go back to the days of jesus beam spam. I'm all in for more magplars but I just don't want more of the beam spamming zerglings...

    ^^^And that right there, is why player complaints on balance are 9/10 times horrible.

    You don’t care at all how balance is in PvE as long as it makes you happy in PvP. Same goes for those who could care less about PvP as long as they’re happy in PvE.

    I've been away from the game because I am a Templar player and I do not enjoy other classes as much and so I thought: let's not rage about it anymore, they messed it up, some months and it'll come back.

    Well, it didn't happen. It is ridiculous. Nobody cares.

    We can add abilities to the exception list for interrupt. For example the resurrect ability doesn’t get immunity since being able to stop it is a core part of our gameplay.

    @casparian
    We have a fix for the bug where Puncturing Sweeps doesn’t stack correctly with damage taken bonuses. We have identified a bug with Radiant Oppression where it’s damage bonus is being calculated additively with the execute damage instead of multiplicatively.

    @bohnt
    Defile is a buff category so players should only be able to have 1 Minor Defile and 1 Major defile at a time. Could you provide more information on the Defile Stacking issue?

    @scipionumatia
    Block cost will be reduced by 20% so it will be a buff for everyone who’s not using cost reduction jewelry.

    If the Templars are dead, who's going to Repentance the dead bodies?

    No one because that skill got nerfed to oblivion and back completely unnecessarily. It was a great group utility returning stamina to everyone that was very balanced and situational. Want stamina? Make dead bodies first.

    But it was nerfed in the great sustain wars which were caused by the disgusting champion system which till this day keeps creating power creep which is payed for by robbing class skills of their power and uniqueness.

    Meanwhile, you can get stamina (while blocking) for free on a warden by pressing one button.

    Yes templars are still viable in PvP but a lot less fun.

    Three changes need to be made:

    1. Return repentence to its initial state that has been there since launch
    2. Give templars another CC, (a root would be good). Perhaps the other morph of blazing spear (since the awesome disorient was unfairly taken away) could root now. would be nice for tanks.
    3. Fix all that broken tooltip stuff mention earlier
