Wait, what? Motifs are being made account-wide?

Please, for the love of Azura someone tell me that this isn't true.

    Nope.

Known motifs are account-wide for the costume system only. To make a costume, you get to select from the collective motif knowledge of all your characters.

There's no change to motif knowledge for crafting purposes ... or how motifs are acquired in the game.

As I understand it, it's like how dyes work now at the stations. Dyes you earn on one character are then available at the station for all your characters. So if one character knows all the motifs, every character can skin their gear in the costume slots using any motif, but it will still function as the actually worn gear.

Hmm, that leads to a question I would have asked if the stream had started on time (I had 1.5 hours available to watch it and it started 1.5 hours late, alas): can you only partially fill in outfit slots so your regular gear is visible in the other slots, and/or can you toggle the outfit skin on and off without having to spend gold to do so? I understand that *changing* the skin costs gold, but it would be nice to have the flexibility to choose what parts of the outfit to display at any given time.

I have 8 "Master crafters" which is a term loosely applied at a character that has level 50 in all crafting skill lines. My main knows almost all motif styles and the others know all easily accessible ones and a few of the rarer ones.
Still happy about the costumes cause despite all the cool armor sets I've crafted, necropotence and Sunderflame are still hideous.

    @Dracane

Just imagine is we could use 5 piece better

(2 Items) Adds 1096 Maximum Magicka

(3 Items) Gain Minor Slayer at all times, increasing your damage done to Dungeon and Trial Monsters by 5%.

(4 Items) Adds 129 Spell Damage

(5 Items) When you activate a synergy, you gain a shadow blessing that increases your Spell Damage by 448 or a lunar blessing that increases your Magicka Recovery by 448 for 30 seconds. You can only have one blessing active at a time.

(2 Items) Adds 129 Magicka Recovery

(3 Items) Gain Minor Aegis at all times, reducing your damage taken from Dungeon and Trial Monsters by 5%.Monsters.

(4 Items) Adds 129 Spell Damage

(5 Items) When an ally activates your synergy, they heal themselves for 26920 Health over 10 seconds and gain Minor Force, increasing their Critical Damage done by 12%

O.O and maybe someone would actually use

    Lunar Bastion Set

    LEVEL 50 CHAMPION 160

(2 Items) Adds 4% Healing Taken

(3 Items) Gain Minor Aegis at all times, reducing your damage taken from Dungeon and Trial Monsters by 5%.

(4 Items) Adds 1206 Maximum Health

(5 Items) When you activate a synergy, you create a lunar blessing underneath you for 10 seconds. The blessing grants a damage shield every 2 seconds that absorbs 2399 damage for you and your allies within 8 meters.

This includes combat changes and they are not going to talk about them yet, we will see that in the patchnotes on monday.
They want to make snyergies more responsive and make it so, that each player can activate the samge synergy. So for example, it seems that if I drop lightning splash, all 3 allies will be able to activate it from 1 cast.

But we shall see. I am particulary interested in heavy attack changes.

Thanks, went brain dead, they did say combat stuff comes Monday. Does seem like fun! I shall religiously look forward to patch notes.

Best stream ever . @ZOS_GinaBruno , @ZOS_RichLambert and @ZOS_JessicaFolsom , thank you so much for doing the show despite technical issues . Great announcements ! Thank you for listening and giving house storage , transmog costumes and all the help for new players learning to make builds . Amazing showcase tonight .
^^^^ very excited for this update!! :)

Also despite the rest of these base game additions, I feel like the two new DLC dungeons will be very cool and the main attraction for me.

Within the Motif selected for the outfit slots, you can choose any Level of the armor? Like if you want to use base armor instead of max armor look, that's allowed? Not sure if my question is understandable. Basically if I want Level 10 armor look from Redguard, I can get that look?

Edit: I see from the other thread we can

well i'll be damned, zeni actually surprised me with

"- Outfit System: Dye stations will be updated to outfit stations, so will the ones in your house. Each character has outfit slots and they are only available for that particular character. Each piece can be transformed individually and yes, you can make light armor look like heavy armor etc.
If you have for example head, chest and legs of a certain style, you can apply them to these particular parts.
    - Transforming armor and weapons costs gold and the cost is dependant on how rare the style is. Base styles cost 100 gold per piece and fancy ones like Telvanni, cost 2000 gold per piece."

i expected them to butcher the system. but they didnt.
account wide motif access, costume transmog per char, price is somewhat ok, and the freedom of choices are there.

really outdone yourselves by not being dumb about this one :)

Hey just wondering if anyone can clear up some confusion for me...

Will these custom outfits be on the costume tab? Or will they actually change the piece of armour in the same way the transmutation changes the trait?

Reason I ask is that i like to wear a guild tabard, but love my Mazzatun light style appearance... ATM Im happy to have my guild name on name plates but have to cover the tabard with a costume as they look stupid!

Any help would be appreciated! Cheers

I'm glad, ZoS managed to get the stream through despite the complications :) You guys are so sweet with your improvised solution.

Anyway, here are the relevant news:

    - PTS will be out on January 8th(monday) and the actual update will arrive in february.
    - 2 new dungeons, 1 located in Stormhaven and the other located between Craglorn and Bankorai.
    - Necromancer skin (Worm Wizard)
    - Drake pet
    - Female Dragon Priest and reanimated Skeleton Dragon as the endbosses of the new dungeons.
    - There will be a collectors bundle for these dungeons. (Dragon pet, a new undead horse, exp scrolls etc. and the dungeons) Eso Plus members get access to the dungeons for free.

    - Storage collectibles: 8 new collectibles. 4 big ones (chests, with 60 capacity each) and 4 small ones (coffers, with 30 capacity each) (So 360 new slots) Obtainable by master writs, tel var stones and for crowns. You can put all 8 in each of your houses and they are independant from your bank. BUT these chests have the same content in all your houses. You can also rename these collectables, so you always know what's inside of them. Other people can see them, but not interact with them.

    - New house: An old dark brotherhood sanctuary.
    - More furnishing space is said to come, but they are not specific when.

-Skill Advisor/Level Up Advisor: Help newer players understand combat and abilities (Cute). This advisor can also hand over materials, gold and a low level mount. If Elite players can profit from this, is currently unclear.

    - Outfit System: Dye stations will be updated to outfit stations, so will the ones in your house.
Base styles cost 100 gold per piece and fancy ones like Telvanni, cost 2000 gold per piece.

    - You can dye weapons. And YES you can make a sword look like an axe for example, but not like a staff. Only weapons of the same type can be transformed.
    - Styles that you have created, can be saved and applied by a single click.
    - You can change the appearance of armor and weapons an infinite number of times (altough it costs gold each time) but you start with a limited amount of sets that you can safe. More can be bought on the crownstore. However, if 1 of your characters knows all styles, all your other characters will know them as well.
    - Putting on a costume, will still override the gear you are currently wearing.
    - Morag Tong and Imperial styles can be used for free if you possess them.

Thank you for the summary. I'm liking the sound of this. Looking forward to hearing/knowing more in-depth details about these things. Particularly the outfit system.

The Skill Advisor sounds helpful. I wish that had been available a few months ago when I'd started playing, but who knows, perhaps I'll learn something anyway from it.

House Storage is how I'd imagined and wanted it...I would like to be able to set permissions so my boyfriend can access my chests though. Storage is great. Storage you can share is fantastic.

A Dark Brotherhood house/sanctuary sounds cool to me. I wonder where it will be? I'm guessing it'll be a cave or crypt style abode.

Khajiit has thoughts. Questions. Things with pictures.

Is it possible to use the outfit system to mix a store costume with a piece of armour - say a pretty dress and a level 14 Khajiit style helmet ... ?

If the home is already full will this one need to remove some of her fishes and yarn to make room for the chests?

Will the chests obtained from crafting writs grumpy elf be bound or can we sell them on as with the crafting stations?

I do not think so, Lambert explained the hirarchy: Costumes overwrite Outfits, Outfits overwrite Armor. So you could prolly wear a costume hat over a outfit but not the other way around

They've said outfits are totally based on motifs so doesn't sound like you'll be able to.

There won't be addition furnishing slots with this update, tho they're looking at that for the future. So probably, unless it uses the special collectable slots that aren't used for much now.
The items in the chests/coffers won't count towards your limit tho, just the storage item.

Storage containers will be collectables, like busts and trophies, so they won't be tradable at all. You can put the same chest in multiple houses but it will always have the same items in it. There will be a total of 360 new storage spaces.

No, no, that is NOT what was said, I just watched it.

He said you won't be able to change anything INTO monster sets, as it is only motif based right now (and who would want to do that anyway), but there was no mentioning that outfits won't override the monster sets, which they will do, just like costumes already do.

Quite a few of false rumours going around with all the hype and emotion right now.

To clarify, Rich mentioned the appearance hierachy:

Polymorphs will always overwrite everything else, gear, outfits, costumes.

Costumes will always override outfits and gear, so the only thing you can add to a costume is a costume hat, for instance.

Outfits are overridden by costumes, but they overwrite gear, all gear in all slots - unless you decide to make an outfit of only a couple of slots, then they override those specific slots.

To make it plain and simple:

    Polymorph
    .
    .
    v
    Costume
    .
    .
    v
    Outfit
    .
    .

Yes, the costume template will save what you design (in this case Mazzatun light) ... which will still override the guild tabard like costumes do.

Or, you could save a template with Mazzatun light except for the hands which would be Mazzatun heavy. Pictured below.

No, you won’t be able to individually change the style of armor pieces on the fly (similar to changing the trait via transmute).
