    • It shouldn't have been tied to the Random Dungeon Finder at all, given the numerous problems it has.
    • It shouldn't have been tied to Random Dungeons at all, but rather just any Dungeon. People mostly ran part 1 Normals anyway.
    • It shouldn't have been 1 per character, but made grindable so that putting the time into the event was actually rewarded, and people could more or less get what they came for.
    • It shouldn't have included trash such as lockpicks, treasure maps, single motif stones, etc. Those aren't rewards. Those are insults.

Nothing about this event was rewarding. It was frustrating as *** to queue into (if you could even), and once you got the box it was a huge disappointment 99% of the time.

Learn from this abysmal mistake, ZOS.

Never run an event like this again.

Lol. It was literally the easiest thing in the world putting a small group together. ZOS please run more events like this. Although I would appreciate a specific loot table released before hand.

No. They most definitely do not need to run events like this again. There were numerous problems with this event that could have been easily avoided.

Read my post again and then think before you make an idiotic reply.

He/she read your post and like many others (myself included) disagree with you opinion. Sure there was a few hiccups during the event but overall it was fun and a big part of that fun was doing random dungeons on a variety of characters.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

    Troll harder.

It's true though. The fault lies with the people who feel compelled to grind for everything in this game. Just play for fun. Be happy with the rewards you get.

50 1k treasures and 14 lockpicks isn't my idea of "Rewards"

ZOS, along with plenty other MMOs and even single player games, live in their own echo Skinner box where they believe that randomness is the answer for everything. Every friggin thing has to be rewarded on a variable ratio schedule, simply because behaviour psychology has been feeding them since the 60's that this is the strongest reinforcer for addictive behaviour patterns.

I understand completely why you feel like a dog, because this is exactly the most primitive and base kind of reward system, and there is a reason that ESO is full of it, even plenty of RNG-inside-RNG-inside-RNG.

Games back in the days, especially RPG games, had no need for these vicious schemes, for they had nothing more to sell to you from it. The more fun and entertaining they made their game, the more it would sell. Full stop. Games today, especially vicious MMOs like ESO, aren't about giving you a fun or entertaining experience, they're only about using every vicious and exploitative trick in the psych book to cement your addictive behaviour, and thereby being able to sell the most microtransactions and lootboxes to you.

I think there's certainly room for improvement.

Ironically, making this grindable on individual characters probably would have helped a lot. Let us just, immediately, loop back in and take another stab at it.

Consolation prizes that actually felt like prizes, and not just treasure maps, would have also helped a lot. I've suggested before, more "new" costumes based on reusing armor motifs, ranging from the basic racial styles up through some of the rare ones. There's, literally, 135 basic racial motif outfits in the game. Most of which have never appeared as costumes. To say nothing motifs like Daedric, Imperial, Dwemer, Ancient Elf, Thieve's Guild, Dark Brotherhood, and the Alliance Motifs.

For players who don't craft, that could have been a great way to get some of those styles out there to players. It would have required some work, but no new asset creation, and they could have turned around and started selling this stuff later.

While there would probably be some whining about not getting the item they want, I can guarantee, there'd be a lot less from people who got something cool and unusual that they didn't want, as opposed to people who walked away with nothing to show except a crown repair kit, soul gem, treasure map or a lockpick.

So, the fact that it was in the first box I opened on my alt account will probably really set you off?

How, exactly do you put in 63 characters worth of work for this event? Unless you instantly queued and your average dungeon run was 15 minutes, you'd have been dungeoneering damn near 16 hours a day?

I’m really glad I didn’t renew my sub for December. All I wanted was the Dark Shaman costume. THAT’S IT. That’s all I’ve wanted for the past five months. Some people have wanted it even longer than me. I put in roughly 63 characters of work towards getting it. This was supposed to be a 10 million players celebration event, right? Part of the reason that’s significant is because of the TIME people put into the game. If nobody played the game, there’d be nothing to celebrate. So why am I sitting here more annoyed with the game than I’ve ever been instead of being fulfilled by an event celebrating such a “monumental” occasion? Why was the time I put into this event rewarded with garbage?

Some of you will think I’m exaggerating, but consider the principle of the matter too. There should’ve been a currency that you had to grind to purchase the items, with the 20-item “jackpots” being left up to the terrible RNG. I don’t like having things dangled over my head like I’m some dog (I wouldn’t even do this to my dog. If he worked for that treat, he’s going to get it). And really, this is just that final cherry on top that just destroyed this game for me. Crown Crates, “Radiant” Apex mounts, “Chapters”, absurdly overpriced homes that are ultimately useless, ridiculously long loading screens for my wife on PS4, bringing back the old crown crates without the gem option, and now this?! After having my hopes crushed at least 63 consecutive times for no good reason, I’m just done. Can’t do it. Just thinking about this game makes me sick.

If the Dark Shaman costume comes back again, I’ll be back I guess. Until then, congrats to anyone that really wanted it and ended up getting it.

It isnt just stress over one costume. Its stress over more then one thing, and this was the straw that broke the camels back.

That's not the way I read it because the OP clearly said, "If the Dark Shaman costume comes back again, I’ll be back I guess." To me, that means the other 'stresses' are tolerable but not getting the costume, isn't.

I live by the philosophy "expect nothing and you won't be dissapointed". It's a healthy attitude based on the RNG in the game.
Well I mean, if they take off that last straw...I might be good for a few more miles.

Stop with that nonsense. It’s got nothing to do with entitlement. Easily the most overused word in the gaming community.

I feel like, with the effort I put into this, I should’ve gotten what I was working towards. Obviously that’s not how the event worked. I don’t need anyone to tell me that. That’s the whole point of this topic. It should’ve been different so that half the players aren’t annoyed after an event that’s supposed to be celebrating the players.

It's the only completely bare-chested male outfit that I know of. It is great for showing off tattoos. For the females, it has only a bra top so, also, great for tattoos. It is my favorite costume and I am fortunate that I bought it when it was first released.

The 'event' was poorly implemented though. Broken group finder on multiple occasions, RNG and non repeatable rewards (literally the worst combination because you could run 14 characters a day and never get a single cosmetic)

It did not feel like an event to me. It felt like a punishment for no reason. It was advertized as an awesome event where all kinds f crown store items will drop, when in reality it was like 4 costumes and a mount and pet that you could literally never see after grinding 14 character every day of the 'event'

It's not even about entitlement at this point. I would have been fine had they not run the event. But the hyping it up and then finding out that it's basically just like running vMA in 2015 in terms of RNG is just a let down.

Pseudorandom to be exact. But TBH when compared to other events this was the worst. New life festival on other hand was one of best events I have ever seen, funny and relaxing quests, nice rewards and a lot of fun. Thats just my opinion. Rewards like lockpicks, potions etc. was really an insult - instead of this crapp they could just give bound unknown motif parts thats all - nobody would whine as after over 50 runs even without any costume or mount they would be like "hey at least I have 50 motif parts that I wasn't know! Yay!" - now after 50 runs there are people who literaly recieved just crap, you really wonder why they are mad?

    EDIT:

As a proof that it was not a "good event" just read the forums. Did you have seen threads like this after other events? This shows that players are at best neutral when it goes to this event, as they dont know what to think.

What do you want to accomplish from this post? It was a free event based on rng. Yeah it would be cool to get certain things, but if you’re sick of it then don’t play. You could have participated without spending a cent on ESO and for that you really can’t ask for much.

I literally said that’s what I was going to do. As for what I hope to accomplish, at this point, I’m just expressing my extreme dissatisfaction with this event. Could’ve been so much better in regards to what it was meant to celebrate.

As you should. We should all express our dissatisfaction with this event. It was very poorly handled, and ZOS needs to know that. Most of us spent too much time dealing with the buggy Random Dungeon Finder than actually enjoying the event.

Why would I express my dissatisfaction? I actually enjoyed the event.
I had no issue with the group finder. I didn't hit one load screen..even in Cyrodiil. I got free rewards for doing something I do anyway..running dungeons, plus I got a pet, mount and two costumes out of the deal. Players in dungeons were more friendly than usual and I made a bunch of new friends and players to do content with.
All in all, the event was a success to me personally, even if I just got lockpicks and maps, I'd feel the same. Just for the experience of seeing so many new names in the group finder.
I'm truly sorry so many of you had a frustrating go of it.
If you're willing to quit over a event though, I'd guess your issues with the game go deeper than not getting the lottery win you were hoping for.
    All the best.

I think events like this hurt the game in the long run. I did maybe 20 runs total and I can't say I or anyone else seemed to enjoy it.

In the end, it was a complete waste of time for me. I only have myself to blame because I chose to do something I do not enjoy anymore for the chance at some compelling loot, but nonetheless it negatively impacts my view of the game.

I despise the RNG in this game. I dislike ZOS for implementing it so thoroughly because I know they know it's psychologically exploitative.
