✭✭✭✭OtherHey - I will give ZoS credit - there have been a LOT of free pets. More than I have, tho these are the ones that I currently have (in no particular order):
I got a free Nibenay mudcrab with the Imperial (online) upgrade (oddly enough my backstory for the character who has this pet includes Nibenay Valley ... weird how that worked out).
I got a free Jackal with one of the DLC (Abah's landing)
I got a free eska-cherry (cannot ever recall the name of that critter - his actual 'name' is Grumpy Biter... because he's grumpy and he bites) with the Wrothgar DLC
I got a free loyalty Ice Wraith for .. 3 months of subbing? Not sure.
I got a free dwemer sphere loyalty pet .. I think this was 6 months.
I got a free Dwarven war dog with Morrowind pre-order-age.
I got a free Dwemer Spider from an in-game quest.
I got a free Nix Hound from a free Crate (actually one on each of my accounts).
I got a free Bantam Guar when I bought the "upgrade" pack
I got a free Dovah-Fly from walking into the Clockwork city
And now this little guy - I haven't yet logged on to get him (I was at work - night shift - when the announcement was announced - or at least when I heard about it).
I love all the pets above, and also the ones I purchased, and also all the pets I will ever have. So I'm sure I will love this one too!!

Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.***Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis5 -

While I don't going to complain to ZOS about that, OP asked for our opinion. Can't tell how it looks on consoles but on PC it's looks rather unfinished. If someone showed me this snake with no context I would have guessed it's some bad user-made addon from TES 3. Users already wrote about this here.
And TBH, I don't get this "everything that's free must be good" as well.2 -
