Poor sorcs... At least a Nightblade requires some skill and learning to actually use it well, unlike a sorc where it's just curse frags and execute, now maybe you can use streak as a hard CC

awww, look at all that nightblade hate... too bad nightblades STILL require skill in order to be effective gankers and even in those cases, are basically glass canons.
otherwise, I wouldn't be having nearly as much trouble with my nightblade in pvp as I normally do.
from personal experience playing both sorcs and nightblades? sorcs are by FAR easier to play.

Sorcs are easy mode play. You have your own personal tank that heals you when it dies, an execute you don't even have to press a button for, and a third bar to put all your utility skills on lol. Strongest shields as well. Sorcs just gotta pop shileds, surge, and surf with streak and they can just pick up random disintegrate kills that other people get down to below 25% health.

won't argue with that. after finally picking up my sorc and practically sleepwalking through content I seriously struggled with on my nightblade? every time I see sorcerer players complain about how nighblades take no skill all I can do is roll my eyes.

I think you're confusing PvP and PvE.
I agree sorc is easy mode in PvE. PvP is a completely different story. Stamblade v Stam sorc, stamblade is much easier to play as a novice, magsorc is easier to play for non-potatoes but high end play really is situational. 1v1, stamblade burst is much easier to land and in open world Sorcs excel due to hyper mobility whereas nb cloak is easily broken. I personally find it easier to fight a mag sorc as a stamblade than fighting a stamblade as a magsorc, and I main mag sorc. The burst is just way to telegraphed in a 1v1.
That said I don't agree with OP. Yea, shards nerf was unnecessary imo but it has more to do with ZoS trying to "balance" morphs to be comparable. Instead of trying to fix what is broke, they break what is fixed.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll continue saying it. There is an obvious reason why there are more Nightblades than any other class that roam Cyrodiil. And I’m slowly but surely seeing more and more of them in PvE. Yet on the forums you’ll hear people beg and plead about how Nightblades are so underpowered, and require such skill and mastery to be proficient at. Lmao. Yeah. Okay. Meanwhile they’re the go-to class for learning, be it PvE or PvP.
Nightblades... The easiest class to farm AP with. The easiest class to farm VMA with. The easiest class to cheese duels with. And the easiest class to quest with. Nightblades. Nightblades. Nightblades. Which class do you see most of? Nightblades. Which class was the first to hit a 600k score in VMA? Nightblades. Which class has the strongest burst damage by far? Nightblades. Which class theoretically has 2 entire DLC’s made for them (Theives Guild and Dark Brotherhood)? Nightblades. It never ******** ends. Always.
I don’t know why video game developers have this freaking obsession with assassins/rogues, and making them so dramatically favored over all other classes/types. But, it’s honestly sickening. Yes. Sickening. Not annoying. Sickening. Overwatch has Genji. Diablo 3 has Demon Hunters. ESO has Nightblades. Fallout 4 has snipers. Skyrim has arched/rogue. Pokémon has the U-Turn and Volt-Switch abilities that rip through teams when built around it. And so on. Even GTA:O has explosive round snipers in the game to make the rogue/stealthy player even more lethal than they already were. Like seriously. Enough. It’s not cute. It’s not funny. And all it’s doing is appealing to people with little to no talent, and making more and more folks want to leave their games. And I’m sick of it.
Are video game devs cowards? Is that way they keep introducing things that benefit a cowardly playstyle?awww, look at all that nightblade hate... too bad nightblades STILL require skill in order to be effective gankers and even in those cases, are basically glass canons.

I have no clue what type of skooma you’re abusing, but Nightblades never required skill to do a damn thing. Be it cruising through VMA, or farming AP via ganking or bombing. Yeah. Totally requires skill to prey on weak targets, and then cloak when things start going south. Yup. Definitely skillful. Uh huh. Right.
If this were Street Fighter, Nightblades and their entire following would easily be classified as the Ken player. And if Mortal Kombat, the Scorpion player. Without a doubt. And they all swear out the same thing. “They take skill to be good at, unlike _____! Lrn2Play and gitgud!” Lol.

Wow that was some rant. I don't possibly have the time to respond to all of that - can't say I agree with any of it though.
I guess I know one person who is not sending my Nightblade a Christmas card this year.

NB has some good abilities but does have a high skill cap. Its undeniable. I crush idiots using cloak all the time, trash gankers etc. It is strong for those who can turn movement to survivability. In no way was fear buffed. It took a target reduction. Whilst I don't agree with frags CC removal, sorcs got 41m petrify. (Heard it sux though, good. Don't need DK stun after DK has been nerfed enough.)
A few things I would change about NB.
Fear should be able to be broken instantly. ATM the running has to start, forcing you to lose control of your character for a little. Not an aspect nerf, just how it functions.
Cloak shouldn't completely stop dots. It shouldn't be revealed by them, but should still take damage. (If you can heal, then it should still take damage.)
No cloaking whilst in a root. It makes no sense. I can't hit you even though you sit in front of me and I know it?
(Buff) Fix the random uncloaks, make stationary GBAOEs. Ritual, caltrops etc. Have to tick twice before revealing the NB. just a bit more reliability. Moving ones like hurricane etc would still reveal instantly.

In this update, we targeted the least used class abilities and morphs for major improvements with the goal being to promote build diversity and creating more interesting choices.
Nightblade
- Shadow
- Manifestation of Terror (Aspect of Terror morph): This morph now fears up to 6 enemies per trap, up from 2, and the trap no longer triggers if a crowd control-immune enemy walks over it. Enemies can also now see an initial projectile marking the trap’s location.
- Mass Hysteria (Aspect of Terror morph): This morph no longer fears an additional enemy, but only fears the same amount of enemies as the base ability (2 enemies). It continues to inflict Minor Maim as a morph effect.
Developer Comments:We wanted to distinguish the gameplay between Aspect of Terror’s morphs. Mass Hysteria grants an instant fear and strong debuff, while Aspect of Terror is more delayed but affects more targets.
Because Aspect of Terror is now more powerful against groups, we’ve made the initial projectile visible to help add counterplay to the ability.
