It's not though. As long as you use a pet rotation, Julianos/Netch gives the same DPS as Necropotence/Moondancer with a margin of <100 dps.

I dislike the pets and always refused to play the PETs meta. I now have something I can play (without PET) and still do DPS with a mag sorc.

Was wearing netches well before this patch, and will continue to wear it. I don't use Julianos, I wear it with spider cult. Personally I don't like using pets. I do fine with my setup. Caged a few things this patch but not much.

Pets are good on target dummies. But whenever you really need that extra DPS from pet in a boss fight, the pet is gonna chill on the closest mountain, or tree, or just hang in the air on Selene because when the spider web disappears, the pet ignores gravity.

Everything, unfortunately. Until the day they readjust pets to scale off of spell damage too, anything that increases spell damage (Netch, Julianos, Weapon dmg glyph, Major/Minor Sorcery, etc.) will have 0 effect on any damage produced by pets.

I tried to get rid of the pet too, but it just isn't feasible.

What is discussed a lot is how your dummy parses will be better with the pet, this is undeniably true.

But what is discussed less and is in many ways a more significant factor, is how much better the Aoe damage is with the pet.

The aoe damage is so much better with the pet it's insane. No comparison in any way, shape or form.

For that reason the pet becomes a must in 9/10 PvE scenarios. The higher dps is just a bonus.

You can still provide great dps without the pet (theoretically), but in many ways you are crippling yourself if you don't run it.

It's not useless it's just not optimal at all for sorc

Switch to necro/julianos or something similar and get that pet out there. No way around it.

I told you its based off the parse lol. Its weaker. But i did get some reasonable responses i really dont care as much as the original post i just wanted to get peoples true thoughts by throwing some extra shade it to get some more defensive reactions

I still have yet to hear anyone say they do 40k dps with netches julianos lol. Just saying

I find it quite amusing how when I made my sorc 2 years ago, the class was considered the bottom of the barrel and no one wanted to play it while the pets were completely useless except for some solo meat shields. Now its like all of the elite min/maxers are playing the class and demanding all sorcs use pets. Funny how things can change.

yep , i was wearing this until i test 5 necro + 5 julianos + 1 iceheart + 1 maesltrom staf infused back barre , have much dps that 5 netch + 5 julianos + 1 icehard + 1 maesltrom staff infused back barre. I still need to test 4 aether with julianos and 1 domihaus + 1 iceheart.

Feel the same way, now when I play my sorc, to every average joe I'll look just like any other meta player.

Was fun getting flawless conqueror as a VR16 without using pets, now ppl can faceroll VMA with those pets.

WRONG, the sorc pet scales off of multiple variables from it's host not JUST max magicka.

He obviously meant 5/5 and VMA staff.

I tried swapping to netches\julianos and actually got better DPS with julianos/willpower/ilambris for some reason. Maybe its just me, I lost 3k dps with netches

99% of players do not go meta. A few days ago i ran vFG2 pledge with random group on magwarden DPS (also non-meta 5MS+4IA+2Iceheart) and was doing from 72% to 78% of group damage (on different bosses), i don't know what build was running 2nd DPS (NB DW\bow) but i wish there were sorc netch+jully instead.

Saw it in Rawl'kwa some days ago, scamp was fighting npc but could not see sorcerer.
