Put your Banker/Merchant away

You still haven't answered the question as to how useful an assistant can be in combat and what people asking you to stow him are actually "taking away from you".

There are far too many people contributing to worsening the lag that this request will sadly fall on deaf and ignorant ears. There is never a reason to use a follower in the middle of combat - period.

Here is the OP. I believe it DOES say dungeons, which ARE 4 ppl runs. So i stand by my previous post and thank you for reaffirming that YOU are the one being rude.
Again I say that if a group nicely asks a player to put away their assistant, it is common courtesy to do so.
Yes this thread was about group play, dungeons or trials, so 3 ppl asking one person or 9 ppl asking one person a request, that is not "telling them how to play" or "being control freaks.
Again you should re-evaluate your definition of what rude is.....
    Have a nice day...

Lol if this was the case you should just vote to remove right???? I Guess not. The o.p stated I asked him to put it away not the group. Then he stated I guess you can find another healer. So keep on making assumptions like narrow minded people do.

Just to squash this little pointbof disagreement with clarification: @Trashkan is correct (despite my general disagreement wih his viewpoint). I was the only party member asking for this person to put their Banker away. He was the only person resisting. The other two party members neither supported me or the other guy. They just stayed silent the entire time. The whole interaction lasted all of 1 whole minute. I did NOT say "good luck finding another healer", or anything like that. The only thing I said was "Ignore List", dropped group, and left.

And you still have yet to give a legitimate response as to why it needs to be stowed.

The thing is when someone ports into a dungeon your assistant will automatically be stowed for you. It is an intentional act of trolling to have one out without using. So you should really be posting about trolling and how to put an end to this world wide epidemic. Because a troll is always gonna troll it is there soul purpose in life.
And if the player is not trolling you should be thankfully they pulled out a merchant because they were probably clearing out inventory and saved a bunch of time not sending rts mail to a friend. More time than this wandering assistant is gonna waste. Unless you quit the dungeon and have to find a new group cause that takes time too.

I get where you are coming from and if you asked me nicely I would gladly stow it but typically only have to use one when farming normal dungeons where I can easily solo. But out of the kindness of my heart I group q as a tank and like to run low levels through for daily dungeon quests.

I have. Twice. The fact that you don't consider them valid doesn't make them invalid.

Nice to see you admitting it can only be pure trolling. And IMHO, leaving a group with troll(s) and putting them on ignore is the right way to deal with them.

Stowing after use cannot be that much of a deal. You're trolling :)

That's same thing I say about driving (Los Angeles). I would absolutely love driving if there weren't other people also doing so. As result, I detest and avoid it whenever possible.

I don't get upset with bankers/merchants/pets or followers normally which is why I only generally group with my partner and we both put assistants away after use...

(but if you've done the Harborage quests you KNOW how irritating Lyris can be when she gets in the way of your interactions, I'm trying hard to loot a sack or barrel - and end up talking to Lyris YET AGAIN)

TL:DR - if you have a high ping (my normal is 240) then assistants/pets and followers can be very intrusive on gameplay

EDIT: While you're at it put that dang flappy thing away at crafting stations

I always wonder if the people who purposely refuse to be courteous because You're not the boss of me! are the same ones who get all upset about the trend of people preferring to play solo within an MMO.

Not sure why you quoted me for that rebuttal. I wasn't disagreeing with the OP, nor was I being petty. The fact that this is even a debatable issue is yet another reason that I prefer to play solo and only play MMOs for social interaction via guilds, RP, ect.

@Rainraven quoted you because he's agreeing with you, and adding further anecdotes. Although he worded it awkwardly, this is how I understand what he/she is trying to say:
    • Some people like to solo play in an mmorpg because videogames are saturated with nothing but buttholes and trolls.
    • Buttholes and trolls NEED other people around to bully, annoy, and bother so they can feel good about themselves.
    • An mmorpg where nobody wants to play with other people would not be in the butthole's best interest, because there is nobody to bully.
    • Thus, @Rainraven wonders if buttholes who bully are the same people who get angry when people want to solo...because that means they would have nobody to bully anymore.
    • Thus buttholes and trolls = those people on forums who criticize soloers.

    That make sense?

Trials are one thing but a random pug dungeon raid???? Sounds like we got some control freaks who actually only care about themselves and not others. Now if I put an x.p cake in front of the door to troll group that is kinda rude but for you to even tell me how to play my game when it does not effect ANYTHING is rude on your part. On that note this thread is only gonna make things worse meaning ya I'm gonna pull it out just to troll people now because once again don't tell me how to play my game.

It DOES affect visuals and it has been explained several times all over this thread.
Why is it so hard for some people to understand ???

Besides, I fail to understand your logic. Because one person says something in a forum that you disagree with, now you're going to do the arguably annoying thing all the time, just in case you might annoy more people and enjoy it ... ???

Affect visuals??? That is your own personal opinion and is not set in stone. If you attack the merchant then that's your bad but I have never seen a boss forget to show his q for a mechanic because a merchant was out. Where's the video proof we all want to see it?

And yes I am here to annoy control freaks i work with too many of them. Hehehehe
Its mostly an healer issue, both assistants look like players and an healer need to know player positions.

In all my groups in ESO I came about one serious *** in dungeons.
That was pretty amusing as we was three guildmates on teamspeak and he tried telling different stories to each of us.
Yes you have the kick low level players in normal dlc, refuse and they tend to leave :)
You also have the leave after first wipe, done that myself if fake tank and two hopeless DD.

Much the same in WOW was a few bad ones but they was rare, trolled one group myself, they was an go-go-go group who had obviously kicked the last healer and could not kick me so I took my time :)
Overall wow had a bit more *** but ESO has more incompetent players probably as its harder to be competent in eso.

Yes. Apologies for awkward wording, @Bouldercleave. I was simply agreeing with you. :)

I don't think people necessarily mean to be jerks, and are kind of surprised when somebody asks them to stop doing whatever-it-is. Most of us then go ahead and stop (yeah, happens to me too) because why wouldn't we.

I just think it's funny to see people get all offended and vow to be even bigger jerks, and on the same forum page we'll have a bunch of discussions in which people are pissy because some prefer to solo. It's an MMO! Go play Skyrim! etc.

I've never noticed if those are the exact same people, but it wouldn't surprise me. I'm not sure how else they could miss this cause > effect that seems pretty obvious.

Makes a lot more sense - thanks for the clarification! Yeah, I never understood why people do MOST of what they do. Many times people seem to just like to find something to complain about. Personally I try to be respectful of others in game, but everyone seems to get tweaked about everything and anything nowadays.

I interact socially in game, but when you read thread after thread of people ranting about how terrible everyone else plays and they should all adapt to the meta and get with the program - it really puts me off on grouping and raiding. You hear a lot of it in Zone chat as well.

I used to be an officer in a large raiding guild in EQ2 and would run groups almost every day. I don't even want to pair up in a public dungeon in this game. FAR too much salt - all the time.

I PUG every single night as a Healer and will 100% admit to losing my composure in frustration during them. I'm working controlling myself but don't always succeed at doing so. As Healer, I ALWAYS have full view of the battlefield, health bars, and teammate actions. As such, I can identify player weaknesses in the first few boss interactions. For example: low dps, very poor defense stats, not moving out of aoe, spamming only one or two dps skills, etc.

I usually don't even care if my group has high dps as long as they can see ground attacks and move their @ss. It gets really hard to keep my composure though when a tank never blocks, stands eating aoe when their resistance is crap, or constantly losing aggro. Likewise, if a dps tries being a tank standing face to face with boss or not avoiding aoes. These are basic concepts.

I usually respectfully point out the flaws if we're wiping. If we continue wiping for the same things over and over, despite verbally making note of them a few times, my blood temperature starts to rise and I probably should leave, rather than stay and get increasingly more rude. :(

I only agree with OP because of the constant chance to interact with the Banker/Merchant during battle. Annoying! This is the same for NPCs that follow the team around throughout the whole dungeon.

So, during battles, please dismiss them.
