"muh exploits" isn't a good answer when this "one fix" is taking longer than normal weekly resets.
There's multiple good reasons they wouldn't want to divulge the nature of the exploit, especially if it's as serious as accounts being compromised.
Yes, the argument can be made that there shouldn't be an exploit in the first place, but if they had to take the server down to mitigate anything else being done while they figure out a fix, that's probably the correct course of action.

In a case that might be as egregious as thing might be, would it be possible to contact the ISP of the individual to try and work something out?
Just curious don't know the ins and outs of how to truly ban someone would work. Even a hardware ban can be bypassed from my understanding.0 -

I would love that actually.
I can no longer visit LotRO forums or get to their game servers because of an IP ban. The server just before them seems to have banned a huge range of IP's from Shaw in Winnipeg, Canada for some unknown reason.
The only way I can get to the game is by using a VPN. My account is fine and in good standing, but I feel like I got caught in the cross-fire of some nefarious activity.
Good luck trying to get in contact with any in-between server. Shaw can do nothing, and LotRO can do nothing either.1 -

ISP won't share that with anyone but the police, and even that should require a court order. That'd be a massive breach of privacy. The only way to permaban a person would be to require personal, real-world authentication upon login for everyone-- it's not exactly practical.2 -

They might be able to ban all the way to the tap port that is feeding into the home of the individual. I know cable companies can trace it down to that type of ID.0 -

If you beat vFH, it gives you the Unbroken Line achievement because no one at ZoS knows how to test their game properly. After that dumb*ss res bug on the carpet and the invincible bone colossus, i think everyone who beat it deserves that stupid achievement.
Speaking of those bugs, they had damn well better be fixed after this "emergency patch".1 -

Epiphanies don't really happen on-demand. Though your frustration is warranted, our day should be refunded for subs.3 -

In this instance, Gina definitely said a few hours, and posted back 2x with more estimates, saying she'd let us know when they knew, so I think that's fair enough.
There have been many times when maintenance has just gone on and on with no word; but this isn't one of those times.
If people complain the same when an obvious effort is made as they do when no effort is made, then what's the point of continuing to bother?1 -

Very well said! I couldn't agree more! I have been a paid subscriber since launch, and I feel more and more like a piece of garbage that is lucky to have the ability to play the game in which I PAY TO PLAY. Major issues continue for months without being fixed, but then as soon as someone "exploits" one of their own malfunctions, they take the servers down immediately. But God forbid they actually FIX something with that much conviction.
