Due to the nature of the exploit, we aren't able to divulge any details. That said, you can rest assured that we will be fixing it, and any accounts found to be abusing it will be taken care of.
That reasoning is entirely counterintuitive.... If you are fixing it, than why does it matter? Also, how would I or anyone else know they are doing something "wrong"if you don't clearly state WHAT IT IS THEY ARE DOING WRONG? You people cloak rules under a grey umbrella of "exploit" yet it's up to us to figure WHAT IS AN EXPLOIT, and what's intended? Please just be transparent with us, the people majing your pay check possible... Or do you want more people dropping subscriptions on you?
Very well said! I couldn't agree more! I have been a paid subscriber since launch, and I feel more and more like a piece of garbage that is lucky to have the ability to play the game in which I PAY TO PLAY. Major issues continue for months without being fixed, but then as soon as someone "exploits" one of their own malfunctions, they take the servers down immediately. But God forbid they actually FIX something with that much conviction.
Bye
Im sorry, did I say I was leaving?

Clearly we need fingerprint authenticators.

IP bans won't work against VPN proxy and dynamic ip addresses.IP ban is actually simple, just make a entry in a routing table. Only take a couple of minutes
When I was working in a fortune 500 company's IT dept the senior network architect got tired of spam email from particular place and just blocked everything from that country (it was Ireland of all places). He blocked everything, Email, Web traffic, DNS, Everything..
You do realize that Zenimax is an international company with customers from the whole world?
Banning an entire countries ip range would mean a great loss of business for them.
Besides that, read the above regarding the nature of ip, most private addresses are dynamic and not static.

I'd rather not get to play today so they can fix whatever apparently serious exploit this is than have them leave it to make a mess. (Besides, somewhere it's always gonna cut into people's playtime, anyway.)

I was running a new warden through grahtwood before the patch, near that little village where you have to work out who broke the green pact. There were so many bots in the little river valley just below that it was lagging the game. I'm talking a bot train of fifty plus all trying to kill the same bunch of cats. No way in hell were they getting xp, not spread over fifty for god sake.
I reported a few but more just kept turning up.
There's bots all over. Every damn where. Bots farmin mats, bots farmin exp. Just. all the bots.
Reporting them does NOTHING. it's pathetic.

I was accused of being a bot while I stood at a dolmen with my friend, waiting for it to respawn. We were just standing there chatting in whisper, and someone ran up to us and called us bots. Then today, just before the server went down, I was working on my Monster Hunter title, wherein I need to kill another 300+ ghosts to earn my title. So I was just running in circles outside of Davon's Watch, killing those ghosts because they are plentiful and respawn quickly. I wonder how many people thought I was a bot while i did nothing but continuously run around killing ghosts? All I'm saying is, I feel as though I'm back in Salem, and there is a witch hunt going on. I'm sure there are legitimate cases, but do you guys at least try to whisper these "bots" before you report them? Cause if not, you might be part of the problem as to why they pay little mind to bot reports. Because I am certainly not a bot, and if someone would take a second to whisper me, they would get something no BOT can produce, and that is a response to a whisper. Just a thought.

Look at the official page again.
It said a few, then "at least 2 more".

Just curious don't know the ins and outs of how to truly ban someone would work. Even a hardware ban can be bypassed from my understanding.

They don't ban based ONLY upon player opinion, they're going to look at you for repeditive behaviours (and no human movement is absolutely repeditive, even if you do the same thing over and over). The only reason to feel defensive about it is if you were actually botting/exploiting.

You should have a look at LoL policy, they insta ban you just for telling someone else to *** off in the general chat one time.
