Finally closing in on 5 Amber Plasm. I don't have optimal Amber pieces yet, though, since one of those pieces is an Infused sword. I'm confident that Sharp would be better than Infused here, but I'm trying to figure out whether that grind is worth it. (Heem-Jas and I know each other very well at this point.) How much worse exactly is it to run an Infused sword?
If I use an Infused sword, the tradeoff is that I have to run a somewhat suboptimal CP distribution, by taking points out of one of the damage stars and putting them into Spell Erosion. In exchange, I get a slightly harder-hitting Oblivion damage glyph and I get to run my damage set (Necro) on both bars. With Mark applied, I have 14k spell penetration.
If I use a second Necro Sharp sword, I get to improve my CP distribution and my attacks hit somewhat harder. On the other hand, I lose my Necro 5-piece on the Resto bar, decreasing the damage I do during poke-at-range and making it harder to justify slotting Merciless there. With Mark applied, I get 15k spell penetration, plus I get a few more CP for one of the damage stars.
How much worse is Infused, in practice?
Of course, the best thing to do is to get a Sharpened Amber sword -- then I'll have the best of both worlds. Maybe I'll get lucky!
Oh boi, this thread didn't age well. Mnbs are so strong rn.
I'm not sure I'd say they're "so strong" but clearly the most underrated class in the game in my opinion. I almost never see them in BGs. Like I can literally remember the exact times I've gone up against other Magblades because it is so rare to see them, at least on my platform - XBox NA. I think a large reason is that most nightblades have specced to stamina to play the procblade meta. Also, Magblade is a little tricky to get the hang of at first because you need to get used to weaving and keeping track of merciless.
But overall I think Magblades are absolutely competitive. In 1v1s Magblades are one of the best classes, in small scale and BGs Magblades do very well because of the passive group healing I mentioned above and because of the ability to take advantage of great utility sets like Trans. And in large scale Magblades also do well because of bombing capabilities. I think Magblade can excel in any PvP content. But then again, I actually think balance is very good right now all things considered so any class in the right hands will perform well.

I completly agree with your points, that's why I found it funny that the original post calls them the weakest classes, and gutted into oblivion lol.
Great thread nonetheless. And on topic, my favorite setup is dw, war maiden, amberplasm and pirate skele.
Overwhelming + Wizards Riposte + Grothdarr is really strong for 1vs1, would recommend some people to try it out.
Currently for non-CP im running Vicious Death + Overwhelming + Grothdarr, allows you to 1v1 and 1vX as a bomblade at the same time.

@bubbygink asked me about that earlier too. Yea, it's a great set for dueling against light and medium armor targets. Against tankier targets, I'd rather have Spinner's.
I don't like it because it is my understanding that the set pulls you out of cloak if you are near a valid target. Can someone confirm that for me, actually? It's up almost all of the time, too, which can create problems during escapes. On the other hand, high uptime is a good thing if you're dueling, but I don't build for duels. I build for getting chased by angry bees in open world.
Very good set in controlled situations, though. I mentioned it in my melee vid, but I don't own it myself and have no intention of farming it for now. Shout out goes to Araxleon for using this set in Imperial City PTS. Full crit damage Overwhelming build shredding people in duels. Unfortunately, it was nearly inaccessible on live until One Tamriel, but at least we get to enjoy it now!

It does pull you out of stealth when theres a nearby target similar to quick cloak. I understand it can mess with stealth mechanics but if you are running shadow image it works. Usually, shadow image and then you lure opponents away from it and when you need to escape recast shadow image then cloak.
EDIT: Also in 1vX you're focusing the tank last anyways (at least 90% of the time). Also it synergizes really well with grothgarr and proxy det as a melee magblade.

I'm actually thinking of trying that setup on my Magicka Templar.

That sounds pretty sick. If you go dw/snb, consider placing the Riposte back bar with dw Willpower.

Need Restro Backbar because you can pop that Restro ult and murder people with that.

Yea I figured you might be using resto. Resto ult is so good.

Does it really outperform soul tether back bar in outnumbered situations?

Started playing about a week before the DEATH OF THE TEMPLAR patch. She was my first love, since then I've run the gamut of classes listed in my sig. Got my healer, tank and dps (magSorcs so boring, PVE so boring) and been expanding into PVP more which led me to MagBlades...
I AM IN LOVE.
Never thought a stealth class would do it for me but I haven't felt such affinity to a class since my Dagger/Dagger Elementalist (prior to them being slain) in GW2.
After having spent the last week exclusively on Kyne (Under 50), tonight Qura hit 50 and with a sad heart I bid fair well to my brothers and sisters in arms. Whilst the more prolific participants in this thread won't find it much of an achievement, I ranked 40th in the campaign, I don't think that's too bad for someone on a new class venturing into Cyro earnestly with about 4 hours play time per evening.
So now I'm faced with the decision of gearing her correctly. I'm at 305 CP now, will likely avoid CP campaigns until I have more. I've read every page of this thread and as many as I can find on the forums.
I have no access to 9-trait crafters (my own almost at 7 traits for Clever Alchemist), limited supply of gold (250K for all characters), minimal hakeijo and no complete monster or dungeon set (that's how much I detest group finder and grinding).
I have a variety of WM/Trans pieces: 3 WM jewelry + head and shoulders (will need to get hold of impen), a smattering of TRANS: Necklace (are there rings?), destro, resto, shoulders, sword, shield.
It seems the go to sets are a combination of WM/TRANS/RIPOSTE/SPINNERS/JULIANOS.
What I'd appreciate help with is finding a viable combination for NO-CP and CP ~ destro/resto and I'm planning on branching out to a melee magblade in future. Bonus if the set combinations work well for the upcoming patch.
Thanks for your time, if you need me to clarify my play-style and what I've been running please ask!
