Dissapointed that the midyear laurel crownis gated behind Dlc and a "Chapter"

Well, Imp city is a pvp dlc so it makes sense to have it in a pvp event.
Battlegrounds is only available if you have Morrowind and guess what? It's pvp so makes sense to have in a pvp event!

    @LordNilloc

By your reasoning that IC is a PvP zone therefore should be in a PvP event the. BGs should as well since they are PvP. IC access is not just given away. Players must pay to access it.

It's very much splitting hairs to suggest that BGs should not be included yet IC should.

I agree I have Morrowind but not the Imperial City and it really is BS you may not need the dlc to participate but you do need them to get all of the achievements which will then unlock the rewards that you will now never be able to get. I'm starting to get sick of ZOS.

What is it with these people who say "ZOS is desperate" when they have promotions to encourage people to buy their products. EVERY company is desperate to have people buy their products and services.

I'm trying to understand the mindset that is bothered by a company trying to make their ventures profitable.

Yes, there will be benefits for people who spend on certain things in game. Yes, you will miss out on things if you don't buy certain things. Deal with it.

A quick and smart solution on ZOS's part would have been if they had provided IC and Battlegrounds free for base customers for the week of the event.

The concept then would be that if a player played, and enjoyed it, they would be more inclined to spend for the DLC or the chapter later.

The obvious downside to this is that Battlegrounds aren't really up to snuff yet to be truly catching and engaging on their own, and while Imperial City is much better than in was, in my opinion it also lacks a real hook that would cause a player to say to themselves 'man, I just can't get enough.'
Ruze Aulus. Mayor of Dhalmora. Archer, hunter, assassin. Nightblade.
Gral. Mountain Terror. Barbarian, marauder, murderer. Nightblade.
Na'Djin. Knight-Blade. Knight, vanguard, defender. Nightblade.

    XBOX NA
Ruze is a veteran of the PC Beta, lived through the year one drought, survived the buy-to-play conversion, and has stepped foot in the hells known as Craglorn. He mained a nightlbade when nightblades weren't good, and has never worn a robe. He converted from PC during the console betas, and hasn't regretted it a moment since.

He'd rank ESO:TU (in it's current state) a 4.8 out of 5, loving the game almost entirely.

This is an multiplayer game. I should be able to log in, join a dungeon, join a battleground, queue for a dolmen or world boss or delve, teleport in, play for 20 minutes, and not worry about getting kicked, failing to join, having perfect voice coms, or being unable to complete content because someone's lagging behind. Group Finder and matchmaking is broken. Take a note from Destiny and build a system that allows from drop-in/drop-out functionality and quick play.

Zenimax setting lowest precedence in marketing paywall strategy yet? I'm not surprised. To think I wanted to be employed under their logo, now feeling dirty and ashamed at such a desire.

But hey! PvP in ESO is some of the worst I've ever encountered so really, an achievement locked behind DLC that's broken anyhow...who cares? Might be time to take a break from ESO and find other investments, this franchise has become stale in it's attempt to reclaim lost finances.

Indeed. Sometimes two negatives cancel each other out.

Twelves months ago if you'd asked me how I'd feel about ESO releasing a Telvanni mushroom tower as an 8000 crown store only purchase, I'd have expressed displeasure. That's a well loved and fairly unique home. Bit evil making it crown store only.

Twelve months ago if you'd asked me how I'd feel about ESO implementing Telvanni mushroom towers as what I saw described in beta chat as "giant diseased .... piece of the male anatomy" I'd also have expressed displeasure. That's an abominable thing to do to a beautiful piece of architecture.

Put these two negatives together and I can't help but smile.

In my opinion seasonal events should be for everyone. You shouldn't have to buy a "chapter" to get all achievements. Basically I now have to buy morrowind in order to get this.

Pretty crappy way to market DLCs sorry..."chapters" in my opinion.

I was very meh when I read the event achievements for a couple of reasons. I guess it makes sense to have an all PVP event especially since 3 of the previous 4 events were PVE. In addition to being all PVP this is also the first event to require DLC for completion and it requires both DLC and a "chapter." It really feels a little to me like a federal holiday in the U.S. That is to say, unless you work for the federal government you probably don't get it as a holiday. Maybe they will sell some DLC or chapters but I think it more likely they just won't have a lot of folks doing the event. I hit some of the other events hard (like more than 1,200 aniversary presents hard.) I don't expect to do this one much. I should also note that neither this, not the last event had a motif, recipes, or, I expect, a story. It sure looks like there starting to phone it in a bit to me. Remember that Christmas event with all those fun actual quests in every zone. Long time ago now.
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

Lol, after playing the event a little I realized that it is much worse than just gating the event completion behind dlc in that the completion is really the only thing that is gated as their is not really any part of the event in imperial city or in battlegrounds except that you are required to go into each once and do the easiest, quickest, possible thing. It is basically just a box to check to check to prove you paid the fee. They didn't bother actually giving you anything event-y to actually do there. Apparently this box is actually one you can't even check yet in battlegrounds as they, oops, forgot to make that work.

This might not be fair to the rest of the event because there isn't much to that either. You get the free event starter from the crown store, unlike other events where that started the quest they did not even finish programing that this time though you still have to do it. After that you go in PVP and find the questiver at the gate. The quest is... turn around an drink some blood than turn back around and your done. You then get what looks like it was meant to be a collectable with an animation but also wasn't finished so now it is just an item you use from your inventory that has no animation but activates double AP. Reward boxes appear to come from cyridiil alliance war dailies and from rewards for the worthy emails. They seem to fail to have been programmed into other stuff such as Imperial city quests. 3/4ths of them will come from rewards for the worthy e-mails for the obvious reason that, since the other quests are not intelligently assigned and have never been able to be chosen, and so rarely line up with any functional PVP strategy, you never compete all that many of them. Don't worry, the reward boxes are kinda lame anyway.

It is all very lame. The DLC check with no dlc content, the lack of any real quests related to the event, the obvious failure to even finish the beginning quest trigger or the collectable you were clearly supposed to use to trigger the AP, and the broken battlegrounds ownership verification achievement. Just all so weak. If your going to phone it in this much why don't you just declare it a double AP week and forget about calling it an event. This is insulting.

I keep seeing the same flawed logic:

    "It'sa HOLIDAY event"

no its not. what holiday are we celebrating?

This is a fun optional developer hosted event from ZOS to us all. Be appreciative. Not Entitled.

Its to promote PvP - some thing that has had very little additions or alterations over the years. We had one PvP focused DLC and BGs gated behind morrowind much like the Trial, and Warden class was for PvE.

Im sorry but i cant sympathize. You want all your cake and eat it too. Start investing in this game if you want it all. simple as that. If you dont have IC - it tells me you dont pvp. straight up. Which tells me you just want the event achievements and then talk trash about how PvP ruins PvE on the forums later on. thats what that says to me. sorry but not sorry.

Im pretty sure you glossed over the majority of the comments on here just to go on a rant. I own IC bought it when it came out. I spend 90% of my time in PVP and the reason I havent purchased morrowind is due to the fact that I won't pay for a broken product. I'm shrewd with my money as any smart consumer should be.

Ps. Ive bought every DLC and paid $100 at console launch for the game as well subbed for many months and buy crowns when they go on sale every single time. Ive spent hundreds on this game so don't come at me about being cheap or not supporting the game.

Completely agree. I actually have all dlc's & chapters on my main but felt like playing a bit on alt accounts. I can see where players who didn't "buy everything" would feel left out.

The base game is merely part of the game. The initial release plus a few updates that added the two craglorn areas and a couple dungeons.

It has always been intended more would be added to the game and one way or another we would have to pay for the new content.

It's would not make sense for Zos to completely exclude the added content from such events, especially when they are clearly and directly aligned with such an event. They didn't exclude the base game from the event either.
