This game is not dead. Far from it. Claiming it's dead just because you can't find a PUG for pledges is like claiming rock climbing is dead because you can't find people who will free-climb Yosemite with you at the trail head.

On a side note, I just love some of the analogies that people come up with! I never would have even thought of this.
If they don't fix PvP before the next major update, I am sure the remaining of the PvP community will leave. We need skill-based competitive PvP.

Then you are playing the wrong type of game.

MMORPG is the very worst platform for skill based competitive PvP.

Because MMORPG combat is about Gear and Build, and NOT Skill.

    All The Best

Maybe you were talking specifically about PVP, but the PVE combat in this MMORPG is quite a bit about skill.

MMOs tend to die slow deaths. Even the worst MMOs can survive for a minimal 5 years and ESO is far from the worst, despite my personal feelings on the matter.

I'd give it another 5 years at the most though, before people get sick of the expired milk ZOS is funneling down people's throats.

People said the same about SWTOR and bioware turned that around extremely fast.

Regardless of everyones point of view on a game like SWTOR and its "problematic" history. There is no question right now that its still super popular and bringing in quite a bit of revenue.

Going from having close on 200 server to having 17 is not evidence of a game being "super popular".

I wish it were, because SWTOR is the game I will most likely go to if the current shambles on the PTS goes live.

That said, now SWTOR has got rid of a Lead Producer that wants to make the game he wants, and got a Lead Producer that seems to want to make a game the players want I do have some hope for SWTOR.

    All The Best

That right there is the problem. Players don't know what they want. Players choose their games based on the developer's vision of what the game should be. Most players don't have a clue on what they want in a game, they complain about issues - sure, but they don't have the slightest idea of what really a game should be. Wanting something does not mean it will work in a videogame as they don't see the bigger picture, what they want might be completely counterproductive and just not work in the grand scheme of things.
That's why players are players and Devs are Devs - players have the option to play or not to play the product that the Devs have envisioned. Their feedback is simply just that - feedback. I'd run for the hills if I actually see a game where players are in charge as it will be a disastrous monster.

Now I have complained on the forums hundreds of times, but about issues and problems that can be fixed, issues that are actual issues like lag, disconnects, loading screens, crashes, poor performance etc. I have never demanded ZoS to make the game according to my views as I acknowledge this to be their product with their vision, story and gameplay. And they can make it however they see fit, not me. I am only here for the ride.

With lackluster combat, limited classes, limited character development, ZERO endgame content and endless nerfs... it's just a matter of time.

Let's face it, without the Elder Scrolls candy shell, this is one of the lamest MMO's to ever be released. It's really only the lore that draws and keeps people.

Sorry, but that's the truth. I've played MMOs since MMOs were a thing, without the lore and graphics, this is an extremely limited one. And now, the graphics are now getting dated... so it's really just a matter of time.

It always seems like whatever the current Crisis is, it is The One that is going to bring the game to its knees, doesn't it?

    Next major patch
You will always have a small core of the game that is willing to stay no matter how bad it becomes.
As for the person that mentioned Evercrack, that game is a perfect example of how gaming addiction can severely damage your personal life. The mmo addicts are the ones that are filling ZOS;s purse from crown store sales.

You are optimistic bordering on foolish.

The way the game has a habit of pissing off it's customers and continually degrading performance wise, I think it possible in the next 2 years. 4 if it's lucky.

People keep going 'it has little competition'. Well, that's gonna change eventually. I guarentee you. The second someone gets a product out like ESO, ESO will die. Because ESO hasn't stored up the good will necessary to keep retention.

I'm going to assume you played World of Warcraft. But remember in Mist of Panderia we got a new class and a new race. I think there were five new zones or six on a new continent. They raised the level cap. It came out with a couple raids I believe but they added much more. That was an expansion. ESO can deliver a couple DLCs in two years and say they're even. The main reason I'm pessimistic about it is I really expect they'll change that plan. They've just not been that skillful in fulfilling promises. I see from that list I played that game much longer than I thought I did. In some ways, I still am only it looks better and there's Elder Scrolls lore in it. But we're still doing the same thing so they need to distinguish themselves from WoW and its other copies. I think they have all the tools to make ESO the premier story and lore game in the market. They just have to want to do that but paltry DLC releases over a WoW knockoff won't do it.

ESO will not die this is the reason why, When a MMO dies it's because it does not generate content or not enough content to keep the players in tune in the game itself.

Well, we may be in for some very dry seasons. If Morrowind is what they consider an expansion and we're only getting one a year, that 30 hours has a lot of time to fill. If its still around when ES6 comes out, that will empty the servers on all platforms. There's got to be an actual expansion that expands the map and gives us new abilities somehow. The game just won't survive with their current plan. I already forgot what the fourth thing. There's an expansion, a "dlc", dungeons and that's all I remember.

And changing the game every four to six months isn't going to help.

remember world of warcraft pandaria but some wow fans still play on. And ESO is 3 years right and WOW 13 years right ESO is doing good on content even if Morrowind is not that good.

Pandaria had tons of content, it was Warlords of Draenor that had little to nothing and Legion that filled the game with filler content.

OT: ESO is going good right now. It's more or less at the top of the console MMO market and has been releasing decent content at a very steady pace. Morrowind has given the game renewed interest among those holding out on playing it. The kind of people who won't care about nerfs to sustain and class balance since they'll be new players.

I see ESO lasting at least another 10 years, probably more since it's bethesda's way of keeping the franchise alive in between main title launches.
