New end-gamers take their place. These will be people who grow up in the game.

The biggest issue with end-game these days isn't people leaving, it is that ZOS has made decisions that make it more difficult to transition to it. A lot of these decisions were actually intended for the end-game players, and I think it was done at the expense of everyone else. What I see when I look at the game is people leaving before they get to the end-game, simply because it looks like an impassible mountain. It doesn't block everyone, but it certainly shortens the game for what I have to consider might be the majority of the players.

A more fitting question would be : When will ESO's endgame pve community die out?
And the answer is "Probably the next major patch if ZOS doesn't change the direction the pts is going."

If the option was availanle, I would go with anywhere from 3-6 years. By that point, I feel the engine would be outdated and we would probably have ESO 2 by that point. Realistically speaking, I give this game a total time of about 10 years. Seems to be the average life span for an MMO from what I can see.

Even bad MMOs are getting 10 year runs these days . Some even longer . There's no way to say how long a good title will last . Not in the foreseeable future would be best option .

    pretty much this ^

Even cabal is still running and thats almost as old as WoW.

DCUO is STILL going... although having just been back there for a couple of days... I think it's on its last legs. They merged the PS/PC platform and the game is still pretty much a ghost town compared to what it was a couple years ago when I played it full time... and just a few months after launching on XBOX, they merged the US/EU XBOX servers because of lack of population. Definitely not a good sign when they merge servers and still have low visible populations.

I suspect that TES6 will cut the player base to a degree whenever it's finally out, but there are so many dedicated people that it'll probably be around for years to come. I wouldn't be surprised if it lives until TES7 and they have to shut it down when the technology/code used is too archaic, only a small amount of REALLY dedicated players are left, and the team has moved on. (TES7 is probably 10 years away at least )

    That's just my opinion/thought though.

It will be interesting so see how DLC rollouts do around the time of a TES6 release.

MMOs tend to die slow deaths. Even the worst MMOs can survive for a minimal 5 years and ESO is far from the worst, despite my personal feelings on the matter.

I'd give it another 5 years at the most though, before people get sick of the expired milk ZOS is funneling down people's throats.

    Or longer.

ESO will easily be around for a decade. Just look at SWTOR. It's been around for about 5.5 years and going strong though many of the strong raiders and moved to other games, especially over the last two years. But it's still very populated.

I love SWTOR - some of the time. Right now I'm messing about with my Strongholds, getting them decorated.

There's is, to be sure, a strong core following for SWTOR. But it is not, by any stretch, "very populated". There used to be 120+ US Servers for SWTOR, and IIRC 70+ European servers, there's now 8 US and 9 European ones, and most of them are only lightly populated.

Now, I hope that SWTOR BY replacing the disastrous Ben Irving as Lead Producer with Keith Kanneg, who at least seems to play the game (over 10,000 hours played) and so should understand the issues players are facing, will turn the game around a bit.

But the decline in server numbers is a stark example of what happens when Developers make the game "they want" and the not the game the "players want".

^THIS! This seems to also be the problem here in ESO... and you hear it in ESO Live all the time when they keep saying "we"... 'we think that...' and 'we wanted...' but what about what PLAYERS want? Further, they keep saying that, 'players want...' but in reality that is NOT what players want. They claimed that 'players want fewer patches' to explain why they give these massive large patches less frequently... but if you look at the poll on here about the subject, almost everyone wants more frequent patches with smaller adjustments. So it makes me wonder exactly WHAT players they are listening to because clearly they are not ESO players... and I don't think, "players who are also ESO developers" should count.

IF ZOS wants to make this game remain popular and last, they need to start actually listening to REAL players here on the forums and STOP egotistically designing the game from their personal wish list. It reminds me of weapon dyeing... the overwhelming majority of players want it... but a group of ZOS devs don't... so we don't have it.

Bad MMO's are usually cheap to make and maintain, hence why they're bad. Some of them games can survive off 1k players +/- due to cheap production and maintenance costs.
ESO is a AAA MMO and is by no means cheap - if a game like this struggles to hit the desired numbers, it will eventually flop, just like a lot of other AAA MMOs in the past. Yet some obscure Korean MMO that barely shows up on a Google search or any kinds of listings can easily plod along with it's tiny population and development team of 4 people...

Cheap and cr@ppy games have it much easier in this regard.
