Which alone makes pugging for loot a bad idea. They either keep the loot or ask for ridiculous gold. Your main group usually shares stuff which virtually multiplies your chances by x11 (excluding yours) each run.electromagnets wrote: »This may be an example of how they "balance" the rng statistics... A few weeks ago I was in a pug nMoL farm run, and 1 guy got TWO sharp moondancer inferno staves - 1 from a trash mob and 1 from Rakkhat's chest. Saw it with my own eyes via grouploot.
He kept them both, even with offers from group members of 1.5 mil...
Of course it's not. We weren't raiding vMOL for loot. LOL.Is 129 SD worth 8 months? I doubt though.
I've ran vMoL hundreds of times with my raid group. I've also ran nMoL a lot as well.
Last month, Rakkhat dropped for me a sharpened Moondancer Lighting staff. A few weeks later, my guild leader gave me a sharpened Moondancer Inferno staff he also received from Rakkhat.
This process took over 8 months of grinding. It is f***ing ridiculous. No other way to put it. For me the vMA grind was not as bad ("only" took a few hundred runs for sharpened Inferno/Lightning vMA staves)
Do not attempt this grind.
If you really want to have that 4-piece spell damage bonus I would recommend waiting for Morrowind at this point to farm, since there will be a set that has the exact same 2/3/4 piece bonuses as Moondancer and will probably look really cool.
Hope that helped.....
All weapon drops are not created equal
Approx
15% each resto/bow/shield (45%);
7% each 1h (28%)
5% each 2H (30%)
Rough est., don't have the exact numbers in front of me.
It sucks. I know.

Yep this is the issue. They fixed it for maelstrom arena as far as I know, but not for everywhere else.
So for every time a set weapon drops theres a 1/3 chance it's the correct set, 5% chance of the inferno staff, and then its about 1 in 8 chance that it's a sharpened. 0.2083% chance of it dropping, for each weapon drop. So about 1 in 500 weapons that drop will be this exact one.
