Do you wear costumes because the armor designs are ugly?

If I don't wear a costume , I look like some kind of Star Trek monster . Which would be fine except we're not playing Star Trek .

I use armor as its crafted outside of the stupid shoulders and belt.
costumes are mostly town wear anyway, not realy something who i feel fit in combat.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

don't like costumes you can never tell what armor people are wearing when they have one so I don't wear them.

Also I think it's a cop out because you can look that way without having done anything. Armor takes work to get whether farmed or crafted.

Still costumes are more pre-packaged whereas the armor look you create yourself. So that's why I don't wear them.

My banking alts wear them because they're dressed in rags. Makes them easier to look at

A second ago, you didn't wear them because they hide your true equipment  But what does it matter that it hides what you wear? In most cases, it won't matter anyway

Poll doesn't have a lot of good options.

I like costumes and polymorphs. But my primary reason right now is my monster set is ridiculous. The shoulder floats over my armor and it doesn't mesh with my current set at all. If there were only a way to convert to already known styles with a special item, I would explore options.

I wear a costume to hide my armor. But I like my costume so much I think I could wear it if I liked my armor.

The designs aren't inherently bad, but if I'm building for in game performance I'm limited to the innate style of dropped sets, which may not work on my character or may not go well together.

I still don't wear them for that reason.

It's not that the specific styles are ugly, bar a few like spinners, but more that the inevitable mix of styles is very ugly.

This is true. More often than not the mix of styles looks god-awful.

This can be remedied by wearing gear all from the same set (something that is beneficial anyway), or by using the dye station to try and make it look acceptable.

When I am leveling a character they generally just put on what is the most effective irregardless of set, then I will go to the dye station to try and make everything match so he isn't too much of an eyesore.

Maybe I could wear costumes for the characters I'm leveling, but I don't bother.

You can not always get something good by just using same set and a dye station  sometimes it can be acceptable, but for some people, it's still not enough  still too limited

No. COSTUMES are ugly. Armor has some nice pieces after all. With small hip flaps ones.

Costumes are the most limited of all.

There are no options for customization for the outfit (besides dying if you're a sub but you can dye anything).

That is why costumes are just a lazy cop out. Effortless to wear.

How about "so no one knows what I am actually wearing in PvP"?

And I only use drop costumes. I would never spend a cent on a costume.

Sunk cost. You paid the money regardless. There is no point in using something just because you paid for it. Just use what you like more.

None of the options really fit for me... I wear a costume on some characters and crafted armor on others. I hide helmets on all characters even though I don't have monster helmets nor do I want to have them.

This is why I think they should be disallowed in pvp.

Even in PVE, if a random in my group is wearing a costume, I can't determine what type of gear he is wearing, and thus, his effectiveness.

PvP - If they killed you, they were better than you.. No need to see their gear
PvE - if you win the event, goal achieved.. No need to see their gear

Well, if he has studied enough, he can at least guess their style and maybe material  maybe that determines effectiveness

I only wear costumes to hide the monster sets. If I could change those into any style that I know on my crafter with say the style stone and a few bar/bolts/hide to the style I prefer to use, I'd stop wearing costumes.
