Do you wear costumes because the armor designs are ugly?

I much prefer games like WOW, LOTRO, FFXI, FFXIV etc. etc. where you use REAL gear pieces to provide the look, ESO's 'cosmetic' system simply leveraged the 'disguise' mechanics for a lazy way to provide poor cosmetics.

Same, but still, I would perhaps use armor from time to time if I could alter the style on it via a crafter.

Costumes look worse than armor most of the time, and you can't really customize them at all.

Drop sets that go good together stat wise look like a hotmess visually... not gonna lie so sick of one cool armor being mixed with argonian at every turn its like sa hell man im all getting my aether on and bam necropotence is argonian.... immediately made me no longer want necro dps or not

Try going stam at the time and style blocked by viper... try a nb poison build style blocked swamp raider....

I throw on a lousy costume and try to manage serious need to allow all gear not just crafted to convert

i would forego doing end-game content on a character [like my crafter] and go with sub-optimal crafted armor just to look good.. because there are motifs that look amazing, and often in combination with each other. sadly, costumes seem inferior in most cases.

ZOS armor to costume conversion when? got ma crowns ready...

My Main Char wears 5 piece Crafted - 1 piece + 3 piece jewellery + weapons of a Dropped set - and I piece monster shoulder.

There is no coordinated style or look to the overall armour. The same dye colour does take on every piece in the same colour or finish, resulting in a miss-matched armour that can quite properly be described as ugly.

I like some sets and wear them sometimes....I like some costumes and wear them sometimes. After wearing some Butt Ugly armor in WoW, FFXIV, GW2, SWTOR, EQ, EQ2

ESO's armors aren't that bad.

On other characters I do wear costumes so another option of " I wear armor on some characters and costumes on others" would have been nice. It depends how the pieces fit together and if I can get a color pattern I like whether I show the armor or not.

I'd be happy to have not just the headgear removable from the appearance but at least the shoulders, gloves and body armor.
Right now I swap over costumes and armor as I managed to craft something acceptable-looking for my character type but I likely hide the drop sets under a disguise or costume.

This isn't a statistical simulation.

A big part of PvP is reaction and anticipation. Knowing the build you are about to fight is advantageous. Being fooled into thinking someone with heavy armor is wearing light could make you start a fight in a hole.

Sunk cost. You paid the money regardless. There is no point in using something just because you paid for it. Just use what you like more.

Yeah I paid the money and I wear the costumes which I prefer of all the costumes I have. If you couldn't dye costumes, no one would use them, cause they aren't that much better looking than the ingame armor.

I guess different people just fight in different ways then costumes of any kind have never affected how I fight in a PvP situation

None of the above, I wear costumes because they are given to me and I like them, but I don't hate the armor, I just don't like wasted costumes lol. I don't hunt for them though, I just get them from achievements so far and the two lonely little crown crates I bought for my birthday after I bought the Aventurer pack and had extra crowns.

Yes. All of the armor set light armors fit my female characters like male gorillas, so I wear the costume dresses.

This is why I think they should be disallowed in pvp.

Even in PVE, if a random in my group is wearing a costume, I can't determine what type of gear he is wearing, and thus, his effectiveness.

If you think effectiveness is significantly determined by gear, rather than by skill, then the problem is with you, not with costumes.

Nah, I'm always in a costume because I'm tired of 14+ months of Xivkyn. Other sets may come and go for healers, but SPC will always remain.

... Mostly because of a combo that makes me look like a rich Robin Hood/King Graham. Don't have the colors right yet, but I'll get them how I like them at some point.
