Missing: I think the armor designs range from fine to great, but to be more effective I have to use sets in styles I'd prefer not to so costumes help.

I have gear of many differnt styles so I use a costume to hide it since havinh many different gear styles look bad most of the time.

But I also have hide helmet since I think it looks better.

    Yes!
But the other main reason I use costumes is the lack of a transmog system in this game.
There are many lower level sets or motifs I like the appearance of but am forced to wear a certain set of armor because of set bonuses and cant change how it looks. All the armor sets I use are ugly and costume is the only choice to hide it.

I like to wear costumes also because it'll be a waste of money if I don't haha but yes a lot of armour looks poop. Unless its crafted then I tend to craft in Assassin.

Nowhere near enough options as I hide my helm (on some characters), but it is not a monster helm.

I wear a costume on my crafter, but not my adventurers

I craft all of my own armor, and have become kind of a master at manipulating dyes to make most of them look pretty darn good.

My White Kitty Stamblade in white Thieve's guild medium armor looks AMAZING.

I fit into none of your poll answers as in reality the poll is kinda skewed to the fact that you don't like the armor skins.

I wear a costume because as a healer I'm swapping sets all the time and I don't want to keep changing my appearance.

I use the hide helmet option because I'd rather see my hair rather than the hood.

I wear the Dark Brotherhood costume but dyed in Julianos White, Mundus Blue, and Scaled Court Brown to look more "uplifting" I guess.

i want to wear the [assassins style] armor for its looks.
but i can't and now, i hate the way my [dropped] armor set pieces look! i want the ability to craft my armor and wear the armor type that i can craft.
    "assassins style"
but eso wont let us do that without giving up a good set.
right now all my armor is dropped armor and i hate it and the way it looks.

    we were told,

"you will always be able to craft better armor then what is dropped"

but that is not true, because what is dropped is better then what i can craft as a Master crafter.

i made a thread about it. at this link:

Overall armor looks good in ESO but costumes allow you flexibilty to change the look as often as you like without cost to your stats or bank.

Yup I wear a custom cause I don't like the armor styles of my sets on my healer. I don't like robes and some jerkins look awful and some pants are skirts lol.
On my tank I wear the wedding suit cause I think he looks cool in it and as a main tank he tanks with style. It's a tight fit over his armor so nothing gets in way.
Also alot of people wear the same sets so customs make me look a bit different.

I have several crafted sets I would prefer to wear.... But since dropped armor is better generally and I'm forced to look a way I don't want to look, I go with a costume....

Such a poorly designed poll. No option for someone who chooses to wear a costume just because they like the look of the costume.

Also, hiding head slot because one does not like the look of the monster helm and not having an option because one just like to hide the head slot is another part of the poor design.

Clearly a poll intended to support a biased viewpoint. In the end those that choose to wear costumes have only one choice to support the baseless claim OP made in another thread. Statistically this poll provides entertainment value only.

    How's that crow taste?

What is humorous is @WalksonGraves created this thread to prove to me
90% of people are in costume because of how ugly monster sets are
yet he did not create this poll to even try to prove his point. Yet he asked me how the crow tastes. LOL

This is the funniest part. I can help you understand some basics about statistics if you would like. LOL

    Such a poorly designed poll.

    Yep.

-I wear costumes (on some characters) because I like the costumes.

-I hide helm on every character, in every game I can, because after spending all that time on face/hair, why would I cover it up? And I don't have any monster helms (I downloaded "circlet/tiara" mods for Oblivion & Skyrim to have helms that aren't covering.)

    - I wear armor proudly on some characters because it looks good - but it's not BiS armor (crafted and/or nice-style but less-ideal drops)

    - and my dedicated mule wears stolen civilian clothes, because it's practically a costume. (She looks like a biker chick - leather vest, blue jeans, combat boots, fingerless gloves :D)

I craft most of my armor but two pieces and the corresponding jewelry... those two pieces always mess up my aesthetic no matter how hard I try to blend them so I reluctantly succumb to a costume. :/

Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

None of the poll options fit me.

My characters all wear costumes some of the time, but for the variety, not to hide their armour (I also use some of the stolen clothing for the same reason).

I'm not a min-maxer and I like the idea of crafting my own armour so I craft it and choose styles which suit the characters and work together (sometimes it's all the same style, sometimes it's different). After all of that I want to get to see it.

I also tend to hide the helmet, but again it's because I want to see my characters face, not because I have an ugly helmet. (I don't actually have any monster helms.)

I never tried costumes, I just managed to eventually find a couple of combinations of motifs that I liked (helmet from one motif, body from another). That does mean that I don't get to use BIS armor and several of my characters end up using similar armor, sometimes colored differently. I would love the option to change the look of looted armor.
