I said I wasn't gonna buy any since last time I got the 15 crate bundle and got a lot of hooey... but dangit if I didn't buy the 4 crate bundle as soon as it popped up! ugh!

But I got the Wild Hunt Guar mount.... so I guess I did okay. :) And decided to quit while I was ahead, not gonna buy anymore! (til the next time I cave lol)

A hundred bucks on crown crates is not that much compared to how much other hobbies often cost.

Most hobbies give you a hundred bucks worth of something in return for your hundred bucks, even if it's something ephemeral like "fun". This game gives you nothing. I make enough of a good living that I could buy crown crates till the cows come home and not worry about it at all, but I would never do something so ridiculous as to buy even one. It's almost exactly the same thing as flushing a hundred bucks down the toilet.

Again this comes down to your own definition of "worth". It is worth it to some to have fancy mounts to run around with.
... and a system was created to further take advantage of that fact. You want this so keep spending until you get what you want. On average it will be considerably much more then a direct price.

As Pacrooti will say...keep trying, he has a feeling your luck will change. This whole system is designed to be manipulative.

Dont gamble, thats the good advice.

I would rather give money for free to ZOS than buy some gamble crates and support a system that exploits peoples hopes of cheap rewards. Sadly ZOS has not implemented a donation system.

I would love to throw money at Zos by actually purchasing the items I want (and I so would - I bought the damn elk mount !) but since I have the worst luck & have obviously offended RNGesus there is no way I am going to risk my hard earned cash on the chance I might overcome stupidly high odds & get what I want but I just know that I won't.

Not the best business decision - could have easily made it so can play the crates and buy in store and then everyone would have been happy......

I never said you used the word morality, just that you seem to view yourself in that light. To view yourself as a moral and mature voice, doesn't mean you used the word moral or morality.

Maybe ZoS could doing a bothway system (Store & Ingame) or a system where u can transferring Gold into Crowns. There would be still people who pay for it, because they want them fast. Only an idea...

    @PlaceboSoul
I understand your arguments but in a way it looks that u also do not know how the world turns. Zenimax is a Incorporated Company , so it's natural that their goal is profit (in best case high profit). When ESO doesn't make enough profit it will be abandoned. There is no way to run nowdays the game with only selling DLC's or Addons like in GW 1.

Heck every MMO is a cashcrab.

I think too that there should be also cosmetic stuff available ingame. I hope there will be a fair balance between Cosmetic stuff available Ingame/Store in future.

I like how you're now pretending like anyone agreed with you, and that you're part of some "united front". And you're implying that "my" perception is skewed. An ironic joke. You are the guy who across four different threads is badmouthing others for purchasing crates, and then claiming "i'm just joking" like a little worm. Do I think I am morally superior to all? No, not even close. Am I morally superior to a worm like you? Most definitely.

I know exactly how the world turns, I actually agree 100% with what you said. My issue isn't just the crown store, it's the fact ZOS keeps adding more money sinks to the game, real money sinks, beyond what they need to float the game. I agree they can't function on dlc and addons, but they don't, they have a monthly sub, it's not mandatory but it's there and there are a lot of people that have eso+. They sell the game, they sell the dlc, they now sell xpacs, AND they want to sell all of the aesthetics in a real money store and have real money gambling? It's just too much. That's where my issue lies. I do want ZOS to profit, and be successful with eso, I want them to pay their employees well and enjoy the fruits of their labors, but there is a point where being well fed turns to gluttony.

In the end, I just want the company that controls a game I love to be fair about it to the player, not even necessarily generous, just fair. Just like you just said too, I would just like to see some of that crown store loot available in game. There are a lot of games that use the in app purchase model, but a lot of them (I won't say most) also allow you to earn the currency for purchases in game. ZOS does not. There is one way to get crowns, and that's cash. Only one way to get aesthetics, and that is crowns. I just think the level of avarice is a bit too much. I realize this is how all companies run nowadays, but it's starting to seep deeper into gaming, and it is just abhorrent to me.

Seems like expensive mounts to me.

I agree there is a temptation to play. I spent some of my eso+ crowns and bought some crown crates a couple of times. I ended up with a couple of mounts and a pet. But it certainly encourages you to spend more money to buy more crowns to buy more crown crates.

I used to buy the bingo lottery scratchers tickets because at least you had a game to play even if you didn't win anything.

I bought some crates today.....don't judge!!!.....and I was happy about pretty much everything. I got a couple of mounts, pets and lots of potions so I'm not unhappy. However, I think with just about every crate I opened, I got the banekin pet. Seriously! I started out with 1 crown gem. I got doubles on one or two things, but I got banekin after banekin after banekin. After exchanging some potions I didn't really want, I can now buy my own apex reward.

Gratz you got a pretty decent drop rate on that....

But, you know it's pretty messed up when you have to ask not to be Judged for buying something.

Used about $100 on the new crown crates, and basically got nothing. Only two non-apex mounts. Last time I got 3 apex mounts from the same numbers of crates, and several non-apex mounts. I know this is a gamble, and don't mind supporting ESO in any case, but a bit curious if the RNG is worse this time.

LOL. That's better than what I got. I got zero apex mounts, and two non-apex mounts ... only the two non-apex were both the SAME mount, the guar. *Smacks myself in the head*

When I got the Storm Atronach crates, I spent less and got more mounts, including two of the apex mounts, and three non-apex mounts. I wonder if they messed with the drop rates to make them worse, since for some reason they don't like their customers to be too happy. I'm not sure why they're afraid of their customers being too happy. Most businesses want their customers to be as happy as possible, but I'm starting to wonder a bit about ZOS ...

Yeah, right now I'm thinking they made the drop rates worse, too. I'm overall happy, though, because I got pretty much all the costumes and hats I wanted, and a couple of pets I wanted.

I'm not going to read this whole thread, because I'm sure a bunch of Negative Nancies gleefully jumped on here to jeer if people didn't get exactly every single thing they wanted from the crates this time around. Sometimes being on this forum is like being in high school. *Rolls eyes*

I will never understand why people, of their own free will, overspend on things that have the potential to have little to no return, then feel the need to publicly complain about not getting exactly what they wanted in "x" amount of dollars as if it's somehow shocking.

If the community wants the crates gone, the community collectively will have to stop buying them, but that means taking responsibility for your own actions and their consequences, and I fear that is a dream far to lofty for the average MMO player nowadays.

You know, before hand that you are most likely gonna get screwed (they aren't effing gift boxes, they are rng crap boxes that we should all know by now are never ever skewed in the favor of the customer), don't act so pious and shocked when it happens. Or better yet, don't gamble if you cannot handle and/or afford losing it all.

Maybe it's just me, but I think there's a lot less wild hunt mounts around than there were storm mounts last time around on day 1. I think it's probably more to do with less people buying them than RNG being tweaked. They were a novelty last time around. I bought some, yet this time, I just bought what i needed with gems and have zero inclination to go back to them.

I agree. I think fewer people are buying the crates this time around. I personally don't really like the Wild mounts and most people I've spoken to have said the same. I'm sure there are some that do but to me they feel less liked than the Storm ones.

I also think that the legendary rewards were better last time. The lion, dog pet, leopard mount and matching cub, ice horse, soul shriven horse and red wolf mount were all awesome. Plus I've seen plenty of people running around the mage/aviator hats.

This time there's only two mounts in the legendary section. They're really good mounts, but compared to the five of last time it feels lack luster. We've just got three housing items that are only good if you're both into housing and Hircine. The hats are just stupid. They're all the same just more antlers and imo they look awful.

The epic rewards and such are still good. I love the Toxin Doctor set. But the I just feel the Apex and Legendary section are far worse than last time.

I wouldn't be surprised if the RNG is worse so people spend more money.

ZOS should be required by law to publicly release the RNG % chance for each item.
Honestly, if they aren't legally compelled to disclose the rates or even keep them the same, I'd do all kind of shady stuff.

I'd have it to where if someone bought a 5500 crown pack in the last 3 hours I lower their RNG % by 100% because I recognize them as a whale that can by exploited. That 1% drop mount is now .5% drop. Better buy another 5500 pack.

If someone bought a home for crowns, I'd drop the % drop rate of the furnishing items in the crown crates, lolol

I mean, either Zos has some sort of obligation for ethical business practices or they don't. If they don't, I suggest they go full evil and try to program in a way to recognize and screw over players as much as possible.

I want to see them push the system to the limit. [[SNIp]
