Well before Sorc shields were nerfed a guild member played a sorc and complained about how OP Templars, NBs and Dks were. He leveled up a NB and complained about how OP Templars, DKs and Sorcs were.
Funny how that works. A big part of PvP in this and any game is working out a build to kill and survive with the style of play you intend and knowing what situations to avoid with that build.
This is correct. Unfortunately you can only build your character one way. On console we don't have the luxury of add ons that allow us to hot swap loadouts so we are confined to a small space. We can all choose gear and skills that can counter and defeat another player with certain loadouts, but when we meet someone whose loadout does is not weak against ours we are stumped and immediately complain. Problem is you adjust for one popular opposing build but then are susceptible to another.
You cannot win in all scenarios on console.
You cant hot swap in combat. If you try to swap just before combat, most likely only part of the gear will get swapped. Leaving you in a jam. Trust me, I tried to do this it won't work.
You can never set a build for all situations, but you can get close enough.

The add-on AlphaGear will let you set up gear and skill sets that can be swapped at the push of a button. But, if the process is interrupted you will be left with only a partial swap. So no set bonuses and a jacked up skill bar.

It's been a while since I played PC. Back then I think I had to use two addons, one for gear, one for skills. I do remember it was inconsistent but that was probably over a year ago. I've quit for 2 years because sorcs were just useless. They used to be garbage at PvP, lowest DPS in trials and their best gear wasn't trials nor crafted, but some cobbled together greens.

✭✭Maybe if they dump 100 points in the cp passive that boosts shields but even then it's still only 6 seconds. It's much harder to kill templars and DK tanks then sorcs.1 -
Frawr✭✭✭✭✭Shields are a difficult thing to balance because it's basically a spammable 'heal' that also prevents critical hits.
this means that you have to be able to do massive burst on a good sorc to bring them down. This encourages the burst meta.
I also have a separate issue with pet sorcs. I find the targetting system in this game such that it is very difficult to actually hit a pet sorc who stands behind their pets. These pets are really very strong relative to the sorceror behind them and so the result is that 1 v 1 against a pet sorc is really like 1v2 or 1v3.
I would say that these pets are a little strong. They shouldn't be tanky AND dps'y together. Either higher dps but die easily or tanky and defensive but less of a threat and more of an annoyance.

Or could it be that all these proctards finally need to learn their characters and do more than a light attack/ weapon skill to proc their three rediciulous sets that do all the work for them. Oh, I forgot, that hasn't changed, they just don't crit anymore. This get's out of hand and I'm already tired of this. Maybe I should avoid the forum until the next balance patch that shifts the favour again. But then the victims of the next nerf will do the same.5 -
