And to get the 400 whatever skill points? The achievements? The traits and motifs? I like to play on my main character.

    Class change please.

6 hours to hit 50, your cp already carries over. Traits and motifs are on you. Bottom line don't want to put in the time and effort, don't roll a new toon. This epidemic of want everything and want it now is old. It's a choice you have to make, what happens when you change classes and you realize you don't like it. Are you going to expect to be able to change back? Not to mention you will still have to level your class skills.

I also hope character class change doesnt ever come to ESO...

I still dont get why people want an option to pay for not playing the game.

One of the best parts of this game is getting an achievement with a new char. Besides it makes no sense since everytime they release a new class everyone will have the ability to make this new class an instant high level.... Without any trouble at all.

People who wants this option are usually the ones that play single player games with god mode option on..... Senseless

So far we have heard nothing about class change.

In fact, the last info we have is them saying that this is something they don't intend to do.

Now, they might perhaps change their mind about this with the introduction of a new class coming... but they might not.

We have heard they intend on selling two more character slots with Morrowind, so the signs point to "not"...

However... a lot of people have spent a lot of time on a lot of characters, and might feel mighty vexed about having to make characters 13 and 14 just to enjoy the warden class... so... who knows, they might indeed at some point add a class change service to the crown store. But at this point in time, that is only wishful thinking on our parts...

If they never do things they intend to do, they will certainly do things they never intend to do!

If they never do things they intend to do, they will certainly do things they never intend to do!
They make plans. Plans change over time.
They intended to do PvP-justice. They changed their minds.
They never intend to do class change... who knows what the future will bring on that front one day?
Might happen, might not. That's up to them.
We here can only speculate about how it might affect the game and its players, who'd rejoice, who'd be disgusted, and of course how much it would have to cost that the ones who dislike it nod grudgingly and consider anyone who pays "that much" for what they could just make a new character for a fool, then forget about it and carry on with their questing...
    cyclonus11 wrote: »

Unlikely. IF they pay their code-jockeys to spend time coding a class change function, they'll want to see some profit from it. So it will be about as free as a free race change when they tinker with the passives... (seen one of those yet? Nope? That's what I thought... ;) )
Of course, any class change could come with limitations. Though I personally suspect they would just make it more expensive... if people have to pay 10K crowns for it, that would limit it all by itself.
And at that price it would not be much of an issue anyhow. After all, all those who dislike it could rest easily knowing that few will pay this much, and that those few who would are just financing more content for everyone all the sooner...

Exactly and its why most of the content you can light attack your way through with little consquence. Its not an MMO its a single player RPG online hard locked to story mode. Hey fellas dont forget your Black cat its only available until Febuary 20th! lol until they repackage it in the gambling crate or resell a DLC with the special black cat option for 70 bucks

Personally I would add a ingame class change that is gated as a gold sink. So that it gives the feeling that I have a choice to play different skills like other elder scrolls. They can have in game trainers of each class that teach you their art with a fee.

That got me thinking. What if you could learn every class on one toon? You'd be unstoppable

I hope class changes never happen.

Adding a new class is a good thing, as is adding another couple of character slots.

Being able to change an existing character to a new class is even worse than allowing class changes more generally, in that all the people clamoring for new content and new classes will if class change is permitted have a maxed out character of the new class within a minute of the update going live and will then be back to complaining they've nothing to do, especially as they'll very likely have worked out all the shortcuts and skill tricks of the new class on the PTS.

I really do hope they come up with class change possibility. Not very happy on buying new slot and starting new char to grind to 50 so I can try out the Warden.
If class change was a thing you would most likely have to level all the skills for the warden.

Samething as grinding it up to 50, no?

I wouldn't mind that, as long as I keep my store motif that isn't up for sale anymore and my event achievement titles that also can't be gotten anymore.

A class change service exclusive to the new class every time a new class is released would be the ideal way to implement it. Put a big red warning that the change is permanent and knock the class skills back to zero.

It shouldn't be much harder than race change, since race change already affects a skill line (granted, only a passive skill line, but still).

    Dread-Father Sithis would be pleased

Aside from pure laziness, I'm not sure why people want a Crown Store bought button to change character class.

    As other people have mentioned:

    1) It only takes 6 hours up to one (1) night of playing to get a character from lvl 3 - 50. This allows you to learn the class, Skill trees, and what Skills do/don't work together well. that's time well spent if you're REALLY wanting to fully explore a new Class.

    2) It takes less than three (3) hours to get back every single Skill point you've found in the game, a benefit of One Tamriel and the ability to travel freely among the Alliances. You can run through Zones, never touch a single Quest in each Zone, and collect every Skyshard in the game in the aforementioned 3 hour window. Google search Skyshard locations, go get the free-standing ones in each zone. Knock out all the Delves in each Zone, and go into the Public Dungeons just long enough to get the Skyshard. Three (3) hours max, and you have every Skyshard and Skill point not associated with leveling.

    3) Knock out two birds with one stone: Take that brand new character, and due to One Tamriel's level-scaling system, level up your character while hunting those Skyshards. The Delves will give you a good experience reward, and you get Skyshards as well.

    4) Why should they give/sell you a Class Change token? It makes zero sense. What would ever make someone think that their character is going to spontaneously generate knowledge of all the in's-and-out's of an entirely NEW Class and all the associated Skill trees? Because that's what the Class Change token would do. Out of no process aside from *** extraction, a character miraculously knows everything about a brand new class that was just added? Even with suspension-of-disbelief, the very thought of that is absurd.

Buy an extra character slot. Or delete your least-favorite character. Something. But try exercising a modicum of patience, and actually level out and explore the new Class once it arrives with Morrowind. A Class Change token would only cheapen the experience, and would be the cause of much crying due to having to constantly pay to respec new Warden characters as people figure out what Skills do/do not work well together.

Screw 2 cents. There's my 10 cents, the additional 8 are free of charge.

So what I'm getting from everybody on this thread, is that it's a great idea to make new toons and do the same content for the second, third, fourth, and fifth time, or however many times you wanna make a new toon.

Because that makes total sense. It's a cheap cop-out on Zen's part. They know people want to try other classes, but forcing them to do everything all over again keeps them (supposedly) in the game longer. I'm honestly surprised they're not charging for class changes already.

Class changes aren't a new thing, and I've yet to see that function destroy an MMO. If anything, giving people the freedom to class swap would drastically highlight what classes are falling short since they obviously don't listen to anyone.

It's not a cop out. Yes rerun all content. I have done it 8 times, main quest, skyshards, dungeons, pvp ranks. Been there done that, and I will do it again when Warden drops. Even if class changes were implemented it will take time to figure out what ear works, a new rotation and leveling class skills. Believe me they know what classes and races are being used and for what purpose. Every class and race in this game has unique abilities that can factor into a certain type of build. The people that try combination to figure out what works do so with time and effort. As stated before if they offered a class change people would swap all the time to any new flavor of the month build. Which means at every update when they buff and nerf people would choose whatever the build of the week is.

Personally I don't care either way. When I build a new toon I will run the content again, it gives me time to figure out what works for me, because I don't run meta builds that don't suit my playstyle. It may be a worn out statement but seriously this is an mmo and grinding is part of it. I don't care what eq2 , wow, doc, pcp, lsd or any other game does. I'm not playing those games, I play this one. I play it for what it is, not for what another game is. I can tell you as a person that changes toons alot until I figure things out, a class change token would be a bad idea. Main scenario I see is you change a class, 2 month from now when they nerf it or buff another class the same people asking for a token change will asking for another one. I personally like the build diversity we have. If we could change everytime the wind blows everyone would be running the same builds. So instead of any diversity we will essentially have a cod game set in ancient times. Sorry but no thank you.

Everybody would be switching each patch to the OP class until the next patch. Would be horrible for the game i think.

Doubtful. Most people I play with have atleast 1 of each class. Some even have 2 of each class so they always have stam and magicka of each one. I know that does not mean the majority but by the forums as well most people seem to have 1 of each class on here as well.

The only real grind I don't want to do is horse training, skyshards, lore books, and maybe crafting skill lines again, although the crafting isn't really a must.

Also not sure why you would have to level skills up if the corresponding skill was already leveled. If someone gets a race change and has their passives leveled up, don't they already have the passives leveled on their new race?

I wouldn't say ONE per account because you might have more than one existing character that would be better as the new class.

They could offer unlimited tokens, but only for the new class(es). Not for the 4 initial ones.

No such thing when the choice was never presented to us to begin with. Quite the opposite, ZOS said until very recently that they had no plans to add new classes, and here we are.

In the end Zos would make more from selli extra slots, riding lessons and such. Most know they can level up a new character in days if not hours.

ZOS could just do both and then get both the player who doesn't want to pay for class change and prefers to buy another slot and the player who has three years invested on a character and wants to make that character specifically a Warden.
    More costumers, more profit.

Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.

Agreed, stop asking for class change guys, it's really not hard to make a new toon and grind it up. Plus it gives you the opportunity to actually learn your toon. There are enough baddies out there as is, can you imagine pugging with people who have lots of cp and you think might be decent, but then are like, "sorry, I just class changed yesterday so I really have no idea what I'm doing on this toon!" no thanks.
