Well that would depend on what no harm means. Having the ability to change to the flavor of the month, yeah not good for the game.

This is already possible if you have invested your time into it so what is the difference? I have char of every class on max lvl and skills leveled. So if I wanted I could just run the flavor of the month build with very little effort.
    Stopnaggin wrote: »
I don't think the ones who make many toons are the ones complaining? In fact it just the opposite the ones who only run one character are the ones who want the token.

Actually I do have 7 max toons and one kinda RP toon of Orc that I play with my wife and we quest in Wrothgar. I've gone through the quests and grinds already so many times that I really would like to skip that part and try out the new class with already leveled char.

But true there prolly is people that has only one main toon and maybe additional mules or so that would love to be able to modify their main to be what ever they like at the moment. But there are also people that have 8 or more maxed chars that are just sick of grinding, running after skyshards and lorebooks etc.

I'm on the latter part, I have 8 toon, well 6 now, I use them depending on what role they need for group content, healer, dps, tank also for pvp. So for me I would not switch them to accommodate a new class. Believe me I understand the grind, 5 of the 6 have gone all the way through Cadwells gold. Yeah its a grind, but I rather enjoyed using each as a different personality. The last toon has only done the main quests and skyshards as its my pvp toon and RP doesn't really matter.

As far as switching to FOM well you have already put in the effort so switching those would be relatively painless, just grind for gear. But since you have taken the time to level those you already have an idea of how to use them effectively. Now again I am neither for or against a token change system, to me it makes no difference. I wouldn't do it but that's a preference, when I start a new toon I go all out to learn that toon. I don't use meta builds because a lot of the time they don't suit my playstyle, so I test what works for me.

Aside from pure laziness, I'm not sure why people want a Crown Store bought button to change character class.

    As other people have mentioned:

    1) It only takes 6 hours up to one (1) night of playing to get a character from lvl 3 - 50. This allows you to learn the class, Skill trees, and what Skills do/don't work together well. that's time well spent if you're REALLY wanting to fully explore a new Class.

    2) It takes less than three (3) hours to get back every single Skill point you've found in the game, a benefit of One Tamriel and the ability to travel freely among the Alliances. You can run through Zones, never touch a single Quest in each Zone, and collect every Skyshard in the game in the aforementioned 3 hour window. Google search Skyshard locations, go get the free-standing ones in each zone. Knock out all the Delves in each Zone, and go into the Public Dungeons just long enough to get the Skyshard. Three (3) hours max, and you have every Skyshard and Skill point not associated with leveling.

    3) Knock out two birds with one stone: Take that brand new character, and due to One Tamriel's level-scaling system, level up your character while hunting those Skyshards. The Delves will give you a good experience reward, and you get Skyshards as well.

    4) Why should they give/sell you a Class Change token? It makes zero sense. What would ever make someone think that their character is going to spontaneously generate knowledge of all the in's-and-out's of an entirely NEW Class and all the associated Skill trees? Because that's what the Class Change token would do. Out of no process aside from *** extraction, a character miraculously knows everything about a brand new class that was just added? Even with suspension-of-disbelief, the very thought of that is absurd.

Buy an extra character slot. Or delete your least-favorite character. Something. But try exercising a modicum of patience, and actually level out and explore the new Class once it arrives with Morrowind. A Class Change token would only cheapen the experience, and would be the cause of much crying due to having to constantly pay to respec new Warden characters as people figure out what Skills do/do not work well together.

Screw 2 cents. There's my 10 cents, the additional 8 are free of charge.

I'm against class changes for many of the same reasons as you and others here have posted. Class change tokens are a ridiculous notion and totally unnecessary. People complaining about learning traits/motifs/recipes/dyes - use your original character as your crafter. The only *really* slow thing a new character has to put up with is training riding, and you can buy crown lessons to speed that up (probably a lot cheaper than any class change token would be...). Leveling up and getting skill points is relatively quick for anyone with a lot of CP.

That said, I find myself seeing these kinds of claims - 6 hours to level to 50, 3 hours to get all the delves and Skyshards?!? *Those* numbers I'm highly skeptical about, having recently spent quite a lot of time recently leveling some of my lower level character slots.

I can't see either of those numbers being even remotely close to being true. So far, the fastest leveling I've managed to do is the Auridon (or Alik'r Desert...) Dolmon Run (where you can basically rotate between the three dolmens non stop...), and even that still only manages to level a character perhaps a couple levels an hour at best. Even if you spend a fortune on double XP scrolls it's still way more than 6 hours. Am I missing some other massively quick sources of XP? And I seriously doubt you could *travel* to all the sky shards and delves in those 3 hours, (even taking the detour into the Alliance War tutorial to get Rapid Maneuver...) much less fight your way into the delves to get the sky shards...

I'd really love one of the people who makes extravagant claims like this to either point me to (or make, if it doesn't exist) a stream video proving it's actually possible.

Just to point out something you may not use or condone, but using Skyreach Catacombs in Craglorn with a high level will jump you level so fast your head will spin, I doubt it would that 6 hours to get to 50. I'm with you on the skyshards though, 3 hours my foot.

    What a stupid argument. Look:
Monetarily, it'd be a bit weird if they didn't add a buy-op-weapon option for crowns.
Monetarily, it'd be a bit weird if they didn't add a buy-fully-leveled-char option for crowns.
Monetarily, it'd be a bit weird if they didn't add a buy-skip-all-contet-gimme-all-achievements-i-am-the-hero option for crowns.

And regarding class change. I don't want see 85% (who actually play the game and are not RP/lore nerds) running around with the same class, same race, same build. Of course it's already possible and you already see spikes if a class gets hyped as being the OP class you need to run. But you still have to sacrifice something (and that's good).

People need to stop with that "I give you $$$ give me everything I want" mentality. It's disgusting.

This has literally nothing to do with what I said. I was stating that it is in their best interest business-wise to offer a purchasable class-swap once they have released the class.

Frankly I don't think it's a bad thing, it means more options for players and more money for ZOS.

You've just created a strawman argument by connecting what I said with things (ie. the warden) being overpowered, which was never part of my 'stupid' argument.
My bad. But it's still stupid. And the second part was just an opinion and not directly connected to you, I'll mark parts of posts next time better.

....However... a lot of people have spent a lot of time on a lot of characters, and might feel mighty vexed about having to make characters 13 and 14 just to enjoy the warden class... so... who knows, they might indeed at some point add a class change service to the crown store. But at this point in time, that is only wishful thinking on our parts...

If you have had time to develope 12 characters, chances are pretty high that you have time to develope two more. Sorry, I know there will be exceptions of course but for the most part, if you are already at max character slots, you will have time for two more.

And if you don't, them you can join the group of most other people who only can play a couple of characters. Class change is far different than race change.

I really don't understand why people are so against a class change. The excuse I keep seeing is "people will just switch whenever a nerf or buff hits. I hate to tell you but, the people that would do that probably have a character for every class already, so it doesn't matter.

I would love to play another class, but I can't stand the thought of having to do everything all over again. Horse training again, collecting sky shards again, God awful quests again, crafting again if I wanted it, so forth and so on.

There's no reason at all anyone should have to be put through that to make another class, especially when they're adding one three years after release. It wouldn't be very difficult to add a shrine that lets you switch classes, gives you your class skill points back, and be on your way. Yes, you would have to level the new class skills up, but that's no nowhere near as bad as starting EVERYTHING at level one.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if we see a class change token for sale in the crown store soon. Sounds like something they would do.

1000x this!!! Work and everyday life keep a lot of people busy. For me, I only have time for one character if I want to clear all the content. I'm currently working through orsinium, but have only cleared 2 alliance regions, cyrodiil, and craglorn. And I've played since early access back in 2014. I love the game and how much content it has, but with this much content I will need a class change to make my spinner themed bosmer the class I would have made him at launch if it were available (Warden).

I hope ZOS adds a class change for players like me. I would never spend the months and months it took, to gain back all my acievements, titles, and zones/quests cleared. But I would buy a class change for any amount of gold or crowns. :)

Given the addition of the Warden, it would be nice for ZOS to make at least a token gesture regarding it's inclusion, considering many probably would have gone with it from the outset had it been in the game previously. Alas, it seems they're expecting people to follow the standard practice of making Alts instead. It's hard to blame them, but still quite annoying for those who tend to stick with a main. Some sort of achievement transfer or increased XP gain would take away some of the sting, but that seems more unlikely than a class change token.

ZOS has already said NO... and they've already stated you need to create a NEW character to play the Warden. Creating a Class change system would be a development nightmare in regards to class skill leveling, morphs, etc. It's one thing to create a Race change token that simply resets your Racial skills, but it's another to deal with the logistics of how to handle CLASS skills. Remember all the whining and complaining when they reorganized a couple of skills, imagine if high level players had to completely re-level their Class due to Class change token. I think it's better for ZOS to leave things as they are than try to add new code in order to implement a Class change option and risk introducing millions of more bugs to the game.

There's just one thing that bugs me about this wonderful idea of keeping all your achievements on a new toon and it's combat related achievements. If your sorc that you've played for 3 years has done MA without dying and completed vMaw HM along with ROM and COS Challenger achievements then it does NOT mean your 10 minutes old Warden has a right to them.

There's actually a key difference there, as reorganizing a couple of skills was a mandatory update to any player with those skills. But players would be opting to buy/use a class change. Meaning that it would be a player's choice ;)

Ugh...Another "I heard..." post. Not sure why the rumor mongering.

Class change is highly unlikely at this point in the life cycle. Would be seen as a bad move. As a general rule, MMO's shy away from making it easier to experience content as it reduces the life of the game. May be possible near game end life, but not now. Maintaining Class jealousy keeps the game going.

    This is my opinion.

One of the best parts of this game is getting an achievement with a new char. Besides it makes no sense since everytime they release a new class everyone will have the ability to make this new class an instant high level.... Without any trouble at all.

People who wants this option are usually the ones that play single player games with god mode option on..... Senseless

It's for roleplayers who like to make stories of their character's, people who made bad decisions at start but realized it only months or years after and for those who already have all character slots in use and they love the characters too much to delete them in order to make room for new one.

6 hours to hit 50, your cp already carries over. Traits and motifs are on you. Bottom line don't want to put in the time and effort, don't roll a new toon. This epidemic of want everything and want it now is old. It's a choice you have to make, what happens when you change classes and you realize you don't like it. Are you going to expect to be able to change back? Not to mention you will still have to level your class skills.

The biggest problems with making a new character are:

    - Mount training - This is time gated; there is no way to complete this in less than 6 months (unless you spend $120 on mount training tokens)
    - Mage's guild - This is the most mind-numbingly repetitive grind I've ever come across in a video game
    - Sky shards - See above

The rest of the grind is fine, but these three items make creating new characters EXTREMELY tedious.

So, while not in favor of class change... as a what if...

What if on deletion of a character there was a mechanism (tbd) whereby you could choose one aspect of the current character to carry over. Call it a "memoir" tome that the next character has bound and unbankable.

    Some rough ideas...
    Character experience
    achievements - including known motifs
    mounts et al inc training
    backpack upgrades
any single non-class skill line experience but not the individual skills xp so they start at rank 1. (still have to unlock skill lines but... once you do... can include crafting (equip crafts include their traits but just for that one line)

Notion is to let you choose one "grind" to carry over making it still a loss to delete and restart but the one most crucial can follow you.

That would be acceptable to me, although I'd rather they just make them available in the Store. I don't know what the big deal is with certain people being against class change, though. It's not their business if someone else wants to change an existing character that already has the mount training, skyshards, etc that take months to do. If they don't want class change, then they don't have to change their class. To stop EVERYONE from having that option is just extremely selfish, and for no good reason.
