Pretty sure TW will be nerfed to the ground just like Templars were. So no, not forever anyway.

Slippery slope . Locking classes is generally a bad idea . People would of bought Marrowind even if Warden was not a feature . People love the old game and others would be curious just on player reaction alone to the content .

I'm not saying its pay to win because I don't know yet . We can avoid the entire discussion by ZoS having confidence in their content and not doing a gimmick like that all together .

Please name one MMO expansion with a single new character in the history of MMO's where that new class was not OP. I've just never ever seen that happen and I've played most of the AAA MMO's. It's possible but where do you base your opinion from?

And Imperial is not a class. IQ FTW.

    Yea, it's pay2win.

But pay2win is bad so just like any other game that has it players will defend, deny and justify by any means. This includes insults and philosophies on how paying to have things that help to win battles isn't paying to win. Lol

It's fine to put cosmetics, skins, motifs, mounts, etc. behind pay walls but eso has put a ton of combat behind them. One tamerial made dungeon drops non tradable so players who don't have dlc cant get it.

Other games being worse offenders doesn't justify it here. Still an enjoyable game. Just one that limits non payers in combat.

Unless it's weaker than every other class in the game, then it's P2W. It is not cosmetic, nor is it convenient. The class should be a separate addition. With that said, I'm still planning on purchasing it, but I still don't think it's right.

Question is, what exactly are players using the warden class going to win? We all have the option to buy the expansion, play warden class...

Isnt it per definition p2w if you can play the warden class only by buying the "expansion" when the class will be stronger than others?

Since each class goes from time to time through ebbs and flows of power - being "stronger than others" is a fluid and shifting thing, so it should not be used as stated as any serious measure of a game's nature.

I doubt the warden class will be stronger than the other classes for any period of time longer than whatever class you currently feel is strongest has been - or any less.

If its not some sort of god set of items and weapons and armor that you cant possibly compete with in any other feasible way then yes its P2W if with enough patience and in game money you can compete with it and stand equal against it then no its not P2W

A single class albeit one of the biggest choices isn't the end all be all. A *** poor DK tank even though being the best tank class of the game is still a *** poor tank.

No it's not p2w. Warden will most likely need some balancing at launch but that doesn't make it p2w.
These p2w threads need to chill out.
It will be p2w when I can buy a staff with crowns that's better than maelstrom or whatever is BIS and using real money the only way to get it.

If that happens I'll be crying P2W with you

Honestly this sounds a bit dramatic. If by chance the warden is OP at first it will then be balanced just like every other. Done, close topic lol.

So everyone agrees that the warden class is not P2W, but when we question why ZOS didn't add active skill lines to dark brotherhood and thieves guild, everyone says that would be P2, how is that different?

Well, technically, it is, afterall you're paying to win access to it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wish the Warden would come with the base patch but that's not how things work, I understand.

With that said, if I have to pay for the class...I want it to be OP. Last thing I want is to pay for a class and it turn out to be as functional as a stamplar (soz to you that play them). I expect they will be OP at the start and eventually nerfed. My only hope is that I hope they compete with Templars as healers, even in different ways. I am not asking for better, just equal even if it is in a different way.

    Like Imperials
I see it as no different to the Imperial Edition. I see people posting comments all the time about how Imperial is the best this or that stamina character and only those that bought the Imperial Edition have access to the race.

So if anyone thinks this might be P2W, the precedent was set a long time ago.

Don't sweat. ZOS will always nerf everyone. Marketing will give a juicy advertisement and then once you buy it, ZOS comes in to nerf what you have and call it "balancing".

I feel like ESO is p2w in general. I don't currently own the game and am finding it impossible to beat my friends in pvp or get new gear without having to spend money to buy the game.

rofl here we go again, people forget what pay to win means. AN expansion or "chapter" with the addition of a new class is not pay to win, it just means it is part of the expansion errr chapter. You want to explore the new zone and get new sets or play as the warden then you need the expansion...damnit, I mean "chapter." Nothing pay to win about it.

So every mmo ever is pay to win since usually a new class is paid for with an expansion?

According to some of these P2W thread starters and people who agree with them.... yes. WoW, EQ, DAOC, UO... all P2W since you have to purchase expansions to get new gear, races, classes, ect.

Yeap, it was pay to win when wow introduced death knights in their wrath expansion. When they introduce monks. Or demon hunters for that matter.
