This is still the case. The only means to proc BC is with direct damage and, as you stated, DoTs that have a direct-damage component (such as Cripple) can proc it.

According to the U13 (Homestead) Natch Potes, they've made a change so that light and heavy attacks (which are direct damage) have a chance to proc BC as well, which is a huge deal for some builds (although for others it means almost nothing).

Something else worth noting here, if you're going to consider using BC in U13, is that it's facing the same nerf as all proc sets that deal damage or heal. BC does not scale with spell damage or max magicka. The way the set currently functions, crit chance, crit modifier, and CP that buff magic damage or healing done/received are the only means by which to buff the set. In U13 the crit chance for these sets is eliminated, meaning that CP is the only way to increase its potency.

It's a niche set. It actually fit extremely well into NB tank setups, but with U13 changes to proc sets, it's pretty much worthless anymore, at least imho. I don't know anyone besides myself that was ever really a true advocate for it (aside from someone here or there saying they "kind of liked it"), but now it's even lost on me. There are certainly better options, and always have been, but the benefit it provides as of U13 is trivial.

Wanted to test it out on my blazing shield tank with Leeching Plate for that stupid high survivability for PuGing vet dungeons and norm trials. I struggled to stay alive against the warrior on normal HRC when the rest of the group wiped (was doing fine, but even as a templar the time it took to rez was too long and the constant CC eventually got me) so looking for some extra self healing sources.

Leeching Plate is insanely strong against any fights with ads, maybe combining with BC I won't be effected by the double crit nerf.

Bahrahas curse only procs off of spell and ability cast. Subsequent Dot ticks will never proc.
