These are nice changes for the Stamplar in PVP. But where are the tweaks for PvE? Where is a stamina dot for burning light or vma weapons? Why would anyone want to use Crescent sweep over Rend. I think there needs to be more play around burning light and vma weapons cause lets face it. vMA weapons are 2k WD. even after the nerf there is a gap for damage. Kind of like having soul harvest back bar for a nb. There is a reason to use it. its unique to the class. I would even go so far as to say. Up the cost and make it an AOE dot so you can play around with burning light. Just my thoughts. I see Stamplar still the lowest even with these Fixes. But they are nice quality of life for PvP

well, the reduce cost of jabs should improve a bit the sustain, not sure if its going to be enough, but something is something. Creescent sweep cost is half the cost of Rend, it may not be that bad at all if you count the uptime.

Lol, because this isn't already the most unblocked non disorient CC in the game. It clearlyneeded to be faster for pvp. Given 200ms ping you get CC by the server basically when the javelin in halfway through a max range throw. Now it will happen as soon as it leaves the templar. Great. Given how you fixed my curse, I guess I shouldn't complain.

With vma Weapons I doubt the damage can compare. o.O There is still no in kit sustain for 1 Target without bodies. :(

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the really great feedback in this thread. We have a number of updates/changes coming for the next PTS build that we’d like to share:
    • Biting Jabs – Will now be undodgeable like the base ability.
    • Biting Jabs – Fixed an issue where the cost per level wasn’t set correctly. (overall cost reduction of approximately 20%)
    • Radial Sweep (and morphs) – Initial hit of damage is now undodgeable (it is an AOE after all)
    • Crescent Sweep – This morph now does physical damage instead of magicka
    • Piercing Javelin (and morphs) – Increased the speed of the projectile by 40%
    • Binding Javelin – Reduced the stamina cost by 20%. (to match other stam abilities)
    • Backlash (and morphs) – Reduced the amount of damage needed to reach the cap and increased the percentage of damage released. It should be much easier for a solo player who focuses damage on a target to use now.

Some very good PvP changes in here, but Stamplar seems as useless as ever in endgame PvE. Biting Jabs cost reduction will help with sustain, but even with infinite stamina, Stamplar just do not do enough DPS for endgame. Especially with most boss mechanics being punishing on melee. A melee build better bring something special to endgame PvE and Stamplar do not.

The Backlash change is not clear to me. Is the damage cap on explosion being lowered? For example, depending on max stam, I think damage cap is around 23k for Power of the Light. Will that be going down to 15k or something? Or will damage cap stay at 23k but it will simply be easier to have final explosion actually do 23k damage? Have you given any thought to allowing Backlash to truly crit? Right now, Backlash crits always hit up against the damage cap and essentially do the exact same damage as a non-crit. Is that intended? It really hurts the skill in endgame PvE. The tooltip looks sexy but the inability to crit makes it inferior to skills that look worse on tooltips but can surpass Backlash when you realize those other skills will be critting 80%+ of the time.

    Hmm. Must be Friday.

    Thanks for the update.

The change in Backlash reduces the maximum amount? This is supposed to be easier for a solo player? Maybe I am misunderstanding?

This sounds to me like they lower the ceiling but raised the floor. In line with what seems to be their main thought process.

    Finally some love for stamplar.

That and magica NB are my favourite classes.

So half way to not sucking next patch. Same can't be said for magica NB though :(

Very interesting, thanks Rich. It's good to hear that some of our feedback found support among your team.

Although I'm unsure if the change to Crescent Sweep will make it worthwhile to use - I would have prefered Empowering Sweep instead as the new physical damage morph. The problem is that Crescent only does damage, so it can only compete with other ultimates on that metric, which will be quite difficult. Dawnbreaker or Rend will probably still be the better choices, but I'm looking forward to some DPS tests.

Is it to be understood that these are all the balance changes coming to Stamplar?
Or is it just what you had time for before PTS3 and we can expect more?
Or is it just some of the changes coming in PTS3?

Some good changes in here based on the feedback given. Still don't see anything that will lift Stamplars from their position as rock bottom in DPS and I would have loved to see some proper magicka dump abilities besides Purify to be added to promote build variety and interesting play; like the other classes have some awesome utility skills. Also it is about time you guys made Rune Focus a true self buff instead of sticking it on the ground; it lingering for 8 seconds is simply not good enough.

Overall this will help a good deal on sustain issues and getting your main damage skill off on people in PvP. Still missing some elements though from the feedback that was given in terms of what Stamplars need; biggest deal being a damage increase in PvE.

    Recap:
    Damage increase in PvE.
    More interesting magicka utility skills.
Rune Focus acting as true self buff instead of being ground placed.

    Otherwise good work!

@ZOS_RichLambert you are my hero. These are great changes to be sure. Some thoughts though:

    1. Javelin already feels really great on live - I think speeding up the projectile is highly unnecessary.

    2. While Backlash will definitely be more desirable, I still think giving a DOT that applies to the copied damage would be better than an initial hit damage.

    3. Have you guys discussed reworking Burning Light to proc on all physical, magic, and fire DOT effects rather than Aedric Spear abilities? This is a great opportunity to let Templars carry their flavor into many different build types. :)

WoW. This totally falls into the category of "overbuff".

    Crescent sweep gonna be outrageous.

I see people saying this but I don't get it. Crescent will be a nice single target burst. However, dawnbreaker hits more people, does full damage to all hit targets, buffs damage just for slotting, CCs every hit target depending on morph, and applies a dot.

Yeh, will be interesting to see what damage it does be side Dawn breaker is really good. Crescent may be a good backbar ult though. Currently I have nothing to go there...

I'd say it will be treated much like incap and dawnbreaker. Both will be slotted.

Is Crescent sweep still going to miss on slight elevation changes? I mean; there's always that.

Yeah but Crescent only costs 72 ult. It's gonna hit like a truck.

so..an incap withouth CC or defile? I don't know, we need to test it before saying is OP, but it will be very powerfull, that's for sure.

Ok so ever since dawnbreaker got switched to stam i wanted something to replace it on my magplar. I tried cresent sweep but it being dodgeable just wasnt cutting it. Now that it is undodgable stamplar gets the extra damage morph while they most likely will all still use dawnbreaker because the CC is irreplaceable, and now the skill will go completely un-used.

Please reconsider the morph change. Either that or make both morphs give more damage and have one for stam and one for magicka

It was missing coz it didnt count as AoE that why everything including dodge-rol lworked against it (it somewhere in my very old posts, even i can't find it). Those notes claim it will be treated as AoE now, so in theory it should stop miss everyone.

Definitely a stamplar buff, which was needed. Definitely needs some testing to see if it's too much. I like the idea that stamplar could use it's class ultimate to good effect.

I hate to be the one throwing cold water, but while these changes are something "stamplars" in PvP will appreciate, I'm underwhelmed.

    Eclipse: inefficient and ineffective
Blazing Spear: "simplified" for PvE rotations, ruined for every other aspect of the game
Radiant Destruction: Wrong type of reform
Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.

Any changes to Empowering Sweep to mimic Crescent Sweep as it is now on live or?? You've potentially removed the only low cost ultimate for magicka Templar that does good elemental dmg and was a very underrated skill, whilst stamina Templar now has access to Cresent Sweep AND Dawnbreaker.

The only option for magicka templars now is slotting bull**** destro staff, meteor which is probably the most easiest telegraphed skill in the game, rendering it practically useless making magicka classes slot physical ultimate (inb4 'Stamina always had to use non physical ultimates in past') They are clearly trying to remedy that problem and have been doing so, but instead of creating 2 secondary morphs to accommodate stam and magicka (seeing as it is an ultimate after all should be impactful ) we just seem pendulum back and forth every other patch.

This is not an anti stamplar comment. The other changes are good besides ZoS solution to shuffle is making everything undodgeable from looking at all other classes, but the reduced cost on biting jabs helps stamplar in pvp and pve and I am all for that, but for PvP I don't think the Cresent change is needed or at this give the magicka counterpart an option to use a class ultimate also, not every templar wants to be a healbot or tank.

These changes on paper are awesome. I will likely still use dawnbreaker. I don't think stamplars should get any more sustain bumps... Sustain through killing is kind of their thing. The undodgeable jabs should be interesting.. Even if still effected by two resist cp. should be interesting to play with.

More like an AoE Incap without the debuffs
    Invictus
Kilandros - Dragonknight / Grand Overlord
Deimos - Templar / Grand Warlord
    Sias - Sorcerer / Prefect
Short answer is DKs likely won't be seeing a ton of changes before we go live; this class is still quite powerful (as it should be being a tank), even after some of the adjustments we've made to other classes and abilities.

DK IS NOT JUST A TANK CLASS. #PLAYTHEWAYYOUWANT
