Crash on starting PTS client(Windows related)

Finally done with patching the PTS and wanted to play, but as soon as I hit that "Play" button the game goes into a black screen, loads for 1-5 seconds and then throws me to the "Send an error report" window. I don't even get to the loginscreen nor the bethesda/zenimax logo. Anyone else experiencing this?

Is this a known problem? The live client works just fine so I assume it's not my PC. Already tried to repair the PTS-Client with no success. Any way to fix this and start testing?

Same here, i get a crash after i load a character. Then i get spinning wheel of death which freezes the game and i have to force quit.

Been working on this myself for the past few hours. Nothing I have tried has fixed it.

And I have tried many things that were suggested for such a problem that I could find through searching.

Now I'm re-installing because nothing else worked. Taking forever. So so disappointing.

I have the OP's problem. Hit play, and get a black screen with the "ESO has unexpectedly stopped working" error message.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. That increases the chances it's not my PCs fault ':D

Anyway, an official reply would be great at this point.

I'm on a mac and having issues too.

I can get to the character select screen, load a character, goes to the usual loading screen and just hangs....and hangs there. spinning icon on bottom right freezes pretty quick and I end up having to force quit the game.

(I can load up live server no problem).

I have the same issue, I hit play, and is immediately presented with the error report screen. I hit repair, and now it's redownloading everything.

Re-installing did not fix it.

Seems to be a problem with character copies. I just created a new character and all is well now (also on a mac).

Same issues for me, can get in on a new character and crash shortly after. Copied toons are no good, and new template toons crash shortly after getting in, if I get in.

Get to character screen if you can, create a new toon, and don't spend ANY skill points, you'll be able to wander around a bit and look at the houses, but testing much is pretty much out.

I crash every time I launch the PTS, I launch it see a black screen for 3 to 5 seconds and get hit with a crash
I get Fatal Error 11. When I try to repair the PTS it starts to download all 43gbs of the PTS even though I already have it. And the worst part about trying to repair it I get "content write failed" at like 20gb remaining and it goes all the way back up and starts the entire download of 43gb over again.

So... I have tried all of the following, and it is still not working.

Adjusted settings in the user settings file, as I read online has helped people in the past with this issue.
Updated nvidia drivers.
Made sure the driver is selecting the correct GPU.
Uninstalled and reinstalled PTS.
Repaired PTS.
Downloaded windows updates.
Removed add-ons.
Disabled my firewall.

Can anyone think of anything else to try?

I am starting to think this is not a problem that we are going to be able to fix ourselves.

I don't think this one is on our end. I can play, but only on a toon That has zero spent skill points. Which is useless, but I can tour all the houses.

Being able to even just do that would work for me, if I could ever get to the login screen.

I can't enter PTS too. After pressing play I get windows error about missing file api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll
I reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ and did repair in launcher. Didn't help.
Live server works normally.

My wife plays on a Mac and she crashes randomly as well. On her newly template created character, or on her old characters. Sometimes she doesn't get past the load screen. Very frustrating.

I got into PTS, played for a bit, but once I tried to enter Cyrodiil, the screen got black and the loading music was playing indefinitely.

I got to the login screen, but 1-2s after entering my password and clicking the login button, the game also crashed and just allowed me to send an error report (which I did twice). Uninstalled the PTS and am reinstalling it now. Though, after reading the things here, I fear it won't help solve the issue.
