What are the worst abilities that you're never tempted to slot?

For me it's a tie between the NB's Agony and morphs and the Sorc's Rune Prison. I could see theoretical special circumstance use with builds that takes advantage of disorients, but I just seem to always pass them by and go a different direction.

They almost seem to me like refugee abilities from 10 or 15 year old games when long-duration CC was used routinely (remember WOW Sapping and Sheeping when they were useful in dungeon runs?)

How about you? Which abilities do you always ignore?

Soul Trap? Oh yeah... blood altar. Charging Maneuver? Does anyone actually use this morph?

There are definitely some that I have never used but I can see their usefulness although situational. I don't want to outright say they are useless because I see other players use them. Maybe they know something I don't know.

Inferno and its morphs. Considering that we have Inner Light, Inferno is nothing but lulz. Man they really ruined that ability (Cauterize is even more lulz).

Stonefist is a close second in my list. Damage is pathetic, and both morphs suck.

Honorable mentions are Impulse, Fire Rune and Equilibrium.

Some skills have an obvious choice for morph (e.g. crystal frag) so the bad morph is basically never slotted (so crystal blast in this case). But one skill i don't think I've seen either morph used in any context is circle of protection from the fighter's guild line. About as expensive as caltrops, extremely small radius, and bad effects. Both morphs are totally worthless in my opinion.

I used to say Guard without hesitation any time anyone asked me this question, but wouldn't you know, they made it actually useful!

Currently I would say Cauterize. It's the only heal in the game that will never heal the caster. I was really excited to learn Dragonknights were getting a heal to use for others, but if I still need the other things to heal myself why would I replace one of the more versatile skills with this one? I would like to see this skill tweaked. (Dragon Blood could also use some love).

Prolonged suffering, the agony morph, helped me out big time to get my first completion of VMA on my MagBlade. The ability to just cast and forget about a particular enemy until I cleared the rest was a reall help for me.

Most likely, that's just the beginning. It's truly sad that there are so many terrible skills. The skills really need to be cleaned up.

Soul Trap: why use it when I have the benefit from it on my weapons?

Inferno: Super underwelming, I finaly got it to rank 4 so I could morph it (and the morphs felt really bad so I didn't) and now I can finaly take that away and get Poison Breath back.

All the CC that breaks on damage spells like Petrify. I have never been in a situation where I felt like that skill would be usefull.

Agreed. It is the whole reason you limit the amount of skills you can slot. So you can make them all cool and meaninful and people then Have to choose. If half the skills are going to be crap you might as well let me have 40 skills on my bar. because most of them are near useless or with one very specific use.

Yep, many skills need a buff or tweak to be less then a niche option (and even then most aren't worth taking). I concur with the majority of the skills listed here.

Prolonged Suffering (agony) and Rune Cage are both highly useful skills in VMA, especially on stage 9 as you can stun the summoners, ogrims, and the healer on the last boss. 100% not necessary, but if you are playing a mSorc or mNB and are struggling with the arena, these skills are excellent. They are also not bad if you want to force an opponent to dump stam on a CC break. I typically dont slot them in PVP, but I could see a potential use for them.

My list would start with any heal that requires channeling, be it regular or an ultimate.
