Some folks will buy them and have fun with them as intended, and that's ok.
I wish everyone good luck, hope the crates are in your favor.
The whole crown crate thing is blown out to crazy there is nothing in the crown crates that is NEEDED, it is all wanted maybe, life will go on this knee jerk reaction will blow over like they all do /shrug

I'm saying that some people base their decisions on what they exerienced with in-game RNG so far.. and if your most recent experience was the flower bags, you'd be more inclined to give them money than if vma leaderboards were your last experience
I get what you're saying.
But it's worrying if people truly get confused between RNG drops as part of a game's design in a virtual, closed economy, and an RNG system based on real purchases with RL money.
I'm an idealist, I always assume people know what they're doing...
People have to realize : those boxes are like if Amazon started selling "book boxes". Cost only 1 dollar but you don't get to choose your book - surprise !! And you might also get a pile of blank paper too.

No not a scam. Just a very cheap, tacky, low-life way to rinse your customers for every last dime. It shows zero respect for us as customers or players.
Very true.
It's also really profitable so I'm sure the CEO of Zenimax will totally worry about that aboard his gold plated yacht. And then wipe away this flood of indignation made with his handkerchief made of perfectly stitched together $100 bills.
The sooner that many of you realize that almost everything in life is a calculated plan to separate you from your money they better many of you will be. Nobody cares about art, your feelings, or your addictions. They just care about your money.
Comcast is a garbage company, but they're the only option (at least where I live) for cable internet. FIOS isn't available (and I hear performance is wishy-washy). That is not the case with gaming. The market is over-saturated and that is precisely why having a good reputation with customers is becoming more important.
EA
What are you saying? Are you referring to Electronic Arts?
Yes and they still make more money than the more respectable companies. Why? Because they know good business practices. Not pleasing the customer base. Pleasing investors. Keeping your shareholders happy still matters more, much as I hate to say it.
FloppyTouch wrote: »I got a mount after a few boxes got the 15 bundle was not a rip off imo
Same here.
The chances seemed WAY WAY higher.
The PTS was a mess.
This was fine my $50.00 investment literally got me everything I wanted.
and you deserve a gold star for being a brown nose to a disgusting system! Hope you burn though thousands and when you get [snip] content for your effort you will learn!!Lord_Dexter wrote: »

If you don't want them, don't buy them and it is pretty clear from that get go that you spend money for a roll of the proverbial dice. I spent crowns on some, didn't get a storm mount but still got some fun stuff. See no reason to buy anymore and even less reason for people to be freaking out about them. But hey, what do I know?
I'm gonna need you to go buy more. You're not supporting ZOS hard enough. We can't provide future releases into the crates if you don't keep buying crates. Crates are the game now. Stop being a freeloader.
Haha, well if that is the case then they will just have to settle for my ESO Plus subscription for the time being. I spend my money more wisely and if the crates had more things of interest to me then I would have considered getting more. But as it stands I deemed the game fun enough to risk the crowns I had on them. Suppose the real question is then, are you supporting ZOS hard enough?
I've only subbed since day one on pc and buy crowns from time to time. So no, I'm barely even throwing any support their way.
But rest assured friend, this is only the beginning. You have my word that we will eventually have so many awesome things in the crates, you'll want to blow your entire paycheck on them. Basically we hope to evolve the crates from mere, fun scam boxes to absolutely necessary for game enjoyment.
Lol, define awesome? I can't imagine what would be worth spending a lot of money on for the slight chance of acquiring but perhaps that is a failure of imagination on my part.
I get what you are saying but I don't see that turn happening, gambling crowns on a maybe box is a far step from pay to win style mechanics. And should that turn ever occur, then at that point I will not play the game. But as it stands it is simply a crown roulette for aesthetics and random stuff. Hardly the end of the game or worth all the anger it seems to be incurring.
That turn may never occur. We can only hope. Mmo track record for that is not in our favor I'm afraid. Either way, doesn't affect me now because I think the stuff in them is dumb. But one day they'll put something badass in there I want. And here I'll sit with all these crowns going to waste, wishing to buy it outright.

Fortunately "nobody" isn't accurate. Companies and certain morally bankrupt reality-tv-star-come-politicians maybe.

So as long as you don't actually want anything and just feel the need to spend crowns on who-cares-what, they're a great deal, but if you actually want something they're a total scam, got it.
That is the complete and total BS way of understanding what they are. It can't be a scam because YOU ALL KNOW EXACTLY what they are. And ZOS explained how they work. They aren't forced upon anyone. You make the decision if you are going to give it a shot. There is no scam.

If you don't want anything then don't buy anything, such a strawman.
I happen to have a use for poisons, potions and collecting pets is not such a bad thing so there was really nothing I didn't want in any of the the crates I bought. One man's junk is another man's treasure.
But that is how I feel and of course you have a right to feel anyway you want just don't expect me to feel as you do.
Sorry to bring reason to extremist views.

It's simple, you have poor chances, but everyone already knows that.
My friend keeps telling me, "it's the internet, complaining is what it does."
Edit: I just thought of this, and I think it rather clever, "An addict is someone that is unable to turn their habit into a profession."

Honey you don't even know what a strawman argument is. Also, you aren't buying things, you are risking money on the prospect of getting things. At least get your definitions right.
It's fine that you happened to get things you wanted, but that doesn't make it a good deal for every consumer. A good deal is being able to actually directly purchase things you want for a set price. That's not an extremist view, that's a basic tenet of a market economy. Sorry to bring reason to your ignorance.
I have to chime in here as well. I don't understand why you guys are complaining about having to buy a bunch of these crates for a RARE item. the word rare means it is unlikely you'll run into someone with this item. if everyone could buy it, then it wouldn't be rare. Let it be what it is, something special if you get lucky. The crates should really be purchased for the items you know your going to get in the crate. stop buying them for something you might get if your lucky and complaining that you didn't get one.
-Cheers

I know exactly what I am purchasing, a chance to get something with useless crowns I get every month that accumulate with no use for. I did not spend one dollar over what I pay for my monthly subscription anyway.
I feel sorry for the few who can not control their impulses and over buy such items, but some of us can enjoy a beer or a glass of wine without drinking the whole case.
I worked over 30 years owning my own company so I can retire and do what I want, and thank goodness I can.
Now if we could only convert AP to Gems!
