No, but 400 crowns spent countless times due to the abysmal drop chances ends up being a **** load, which is the entire premise behind their implementation. On the PTS, people were spending upwards of $100 worth of crowns before getting one of the Apex rewards. This entire situation is ludicrous, and this business model never should have wormed its way into the industry.5 -

If they need the whales to keep the lights on then that means that the game is failing hardcore and pretty soon we'll turn into a game with absolute crap being done to it other than more awesome scamcrate stuff. I know. The best way I have ever seen is you can get everything by playing. Rng crates were just shortcuts to getting items like in overwatch. I find crates just wrong in rpg's in general because of the focus on character development in gear and cosmetics. They made these nightmarish for people like me.2 -

I have this sneaking, sinking, cynical suspicion that what ZOS probably did in the original implementation of crates on the PTS was to actually make the drop rates horrible on purpose. The community rages, they 'fix' the drop rates back to what they had planned on originally, and don't they just look good for 'listening' to the community when apex mounts pop up with slightly more frequency then before.
I don't normally subscribe to conspiracy theories, but this one just won't get out of my head.

I've been saying it the whole time as well. The changes were approved before they even hit the PTS so they would look like good guy ZOS even though the improvements to drop rates and such will be hardly noticeable. Hence why they haven't given us any hard data.

Itll be anything they deem not flashy enough. The Dro'Mathra mount comes to mind every time I see these Atronauch mounts. People were willing to drop close to 50 dollars for those things. Transparency would go a long way in a situation like this, but given the nature of the crates I'm pretty sure that 'Welcome' article is about as good as we're going to get.
