Yeah I got that, I imagine that the Skeleton, the Wild Hunt and the Dwemer ones will be exclusive to their own crates too. And I don't mind this so much.

Items that can be manually converted include potions, poisons, riding lessons, experience scrolls, and other utility-type items. Any Crown Gems you earn can then be used to purchase the collectible items of your choosing from the current Crown Crate season.
So, it seems you won't be able to get rid of all the "consumables" you don't want or need. After seeing literally hundreds of "consumables" show up on the pts, "several" isn't going to cut it.
What about the costumes, hats, pets, frills, horns, whatevers that you don't want or won't use? [For me anything for argonians, none of my characters is one, and I have no plans to ever make one] I guess they aren't "utility" items and don't meet the trade-in requirement.
Are items instantly bound to your account the way it was in the pts version?
Yeah, still not considering then better than the pts6 -

ESO becomes more and more like Archeage.

Junipus✭✭✭✭✭Some generalised assumptions and based on old PTS info, but assuming you have everything that it currently available in Crown Store it'd take you anywhere between $110 and $200 per atronach mount assuming you weren't lucky to get one from gambling.
That means after spending $100s on every cosmetic, costume and other item in the Crown Store you'd still need to fork out that much more at the very most for each of the 6-9 top tier items, or roughly $1500-$2000 per season, or per season of the whale.

What I bolded was from the announcement. I don't see Costumes or Adornments or Pets in the "potions, poisons, riding lessons, experience scrolls, and other utility-type items".
The 4 dogs/other pets I got in the pts crates that I never bought and don't want aren't potions, poisons, lessons, scrolls, or utility items. If I want a pet, I buy it. If I don't want it, I don't buy it. That means that every pet I never bought and don't want can show up in the crates and I will be stuck with it. I know how many items I didn't like and haven't bought, compared to how many items they've offered. I know how many items I'd be stuck with if I was foolish enough to attempt to get a specific item from the crates.
If I was foolish enough to buy the crates. Which I'm not. I really want the lions, but not if they are in the crates.
I have no interest at all in the atronach mounts. The next to last crate I opened on the pts, on the last day [8th, iirc, after getting the full number of crates we could buy for 5500 crowns everyday] was one of the atronach mounts, the camel. I didn't buy a camel. I don't like the camel mounts. I can't trade in that camel even though I really dislike it and would never use it. I would have to hope I would either get another camel so I could trade it for 1/3 of the gems, or hope I'd get the mount I really did want.
