And Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars on SNES was good too. Made by the people that made FF games back when FF games were good. SNES was awesome.

    First? FF

First mmo? Runescape (much to my chagrin)

First Console RPG: Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (SNES) I owned a SNES before I owned a NES

First PC RPG: Sierra Games - Quest for Glory (all 5 of them) I loved being able to progress my character from the first one all the way through the last one.

First MMO: EverQuest I was introduced to Lineage II shortly after starting EQ, and that was the first MMO I stuck with for longer than I should have. lol

Yaras' Revenge (Atari 2600) was directly responsible for my gaming addiction. It was the best birthday gift ever.

As for passion for MMOs... The Realm got me started, Ultima Online set the hook and Everquest turned my passion into an obsession.

Nice, I have never read the thread - I was thinking that it was very offensive because of the title.

Nah was good read was good to see the Dev active and taking questions...who knows they may do again if asked nicely

Those were the better times. I'm afraid that now is sadly a different situation. A lot of players would ask about the crates and I don't think they would like to talk about it.
But if he was the one, who wanted to have TES MMO, I would like to know - what and why they had to change really because of Skyrim. And why they had to have classes when they had skill system - why they couldn't have skills only and if the skill system was because of Skyrim, then what was the original idea - because I have heard they had more of classes before, and I would like to know what was the original concept in 2011. Also when he wanted TES MMO, what kind of idea he had on his mind - if it was him - Lyssette was talking about some dev who wanted to have TES MMO.

My first RPG would actually be Popful Mails Magical Adventure for the Sega CD... I fell in love with JRPG games because of it and got into the Tales of series which I still play to this day because of that one game. It was sassy fun and the main character made the most inappropriate comments in a game that was out for that time.

Oh, I almost forgot... I was also playing Lunar: Eternal Blue for the Sega CD at the same time. I loved that game series to. Working Designs was a great company for importing the JRPGs back in the day. It's too bad the company fell through. A few years ago Sony redid the Lunar series for the PSP, but the voice acting just wasn't the same. It didn't have the same feel to it. I still have the last series of it that Working Designs released .. the Complete versions for the Playstation One.

After that, I also started getting into AD&D... 2ND Ed for life!!

    my first computer rpg was:

    Pool_of_Radiance_Coverart.png

i think it was just a bunch of little "stick" figures on the screen...i remember thinking at the time - it was the coolest thing in the world :p

you needed to read a little narrative that would set the whole scene:

Mixed answer for me, The absolute very first that you MIGHT consider an RPG?

Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
    or
    Shadowrun [SNES}
    and
    FFVII

However the first absolute serious no doubt about it that's an RPG?

Baldur's Gate, Followed by the 2nd one and System Shock 2

It was pretty unforgiving by today's standards but it was the first open world game I ever played.

Walking down the path to the Old Camp clobbering molerats with a cast-off pick axe thinking I can go anywhere, only to be killed 2 minutes later by a big ugly bald shrieking ground vulture and loose an hour because I got caught up in wandering. Good times.
